Has anyone else torn their TFCC? Any Advice?

ad

So I Just got back from the doctor after an mri and found out that this wrist injury I had was more serious then I had originally thought. He said I had torn or ripped my TFCC in the wrist area, and it’s bad enough that I will need surgery..... Im really bummed out. I’m scheduled to just double check with a good wrist surgeon from out of town who would be doing it here next week but damn, painful sitting here in the mean time and just such a buzzkill...
Has anyone had something similar?

Damn I’m sorry to hear that, I hope everything turns out okay for you. Are u getting an mri or going for an x Ray? This was my first mri, with a good ol’ ink injection to the wrist...

I tore a couple of extensors in my forearm ego lifting, but when they healed they started to tear the connecting tendons at the elbow and wrist. Had to immobilise and heal the forearm, allow the tendons to heal and lose inflammation, then work on the muscle with active release therapy to break down the scar tissue so it wouldn't pull at the tendons at the elbow and the wrist.

I am sorry to hear about your situation, it really is a pig of place to pick up an injury. But you will get through it. When you are ready (not before obviously!) ankle straps on the cable machine used on your forearms (to take the wrist out of the game) will be a help when doing things like biceps triceps, shoulders and rear delts.

I like that with the ankle strap on the forearm, that could be a good tool to utilize much later down the road. I’m just going to take it slow, recover right, probably Some phys. Therapy and start back up whenever they clear me...I know If I take it slow and do it right It’ll work out.

Mine has been torn for years. I just live with the popping and clicking, thankfully it’s only a little bit painful. Can be aggravated worse here and there and I have difficulty lifting but I give it a few days off, modify movements, and it calms down. Doesn’t cause me too much grief. Sleeping with a wrist splint helps, as does hand physical therapy. I’ve had two cortisone shots there in the past which calm it down for about six months but it does always come back.

Mine doesn’t pop or click although I keep reading of that, mine just feels like, idk, some giant cord in my wrist snapped? Throbbing wavy pain. I hear it can vary depending on how badly it’s torn, this was sudden and extremely painful, like one day pumpedand lifting on point and getting ready for a cycle next day just intense pain and I can’t do anything with that arm.
