cirrhosis looks scary AF. I think I'm going to order some more Liver protection as I only use LIV-52 ... Is Cirrhossis or Fibrosis linked to the steroid usage directly?? If so, I suppose this is more about orals that are toxic then injectables, to a certain degree, is that correct?

press1's picture

Cirrhosis, fibrosis, fatty liver can be linked to all sorts of things mate - anything that's toxic to the liver basically. OTC medications like painkillers, anti biotics, BP meds - but not all of these are and can vary in how bad they etc. You normally find they are bad for either the Liver or the Kidneys when you read about them. Then you have Alcohol, Steroids, Fatty processed foods, excessive sugar etc. With Steroids there are also injectables that are bad for it like Trenbolone, E.Q, Mtren - even Testosterone in higher amounts than normal can increase the weight of the liver in studies! Then most of the orals with them being methylated to resist breakdown, so they can enter the bloodstream and act on the muscle receptors more effectively. Halo, Superdrol, Cheque Drops being the worst down to Anavar which is the mildest. This is why its so important to cycle on and off the more damaging ones, say your ALT and AST rise to 120 ideally you want those less than 100. However you do not want to hover outside of the safe ranges as the longer that you do the more risk you run of developing a fatty liver which is the first stage of damage. As you can see above, this stage is still reversible with the right supps such as Choline, TUDCA, Milk Thistle. But continual elevated levels often lead on to further damage if not brought back down and the liver is allowed to 'Heal and reset itself' effectively.

I have LIV 52 also, although I have seen the odd study saying it is effective most of what exists about it is heavy marketing by the company itself. I would be tempted to go with things that have been proven in studies many times to recover elevated levels and those with various stages of damage progression - TUDCA being the most effective and then Milk Thistle, Choline, Inositol and working down the list. NAC and Glutamine work well with Glycine to produce your own Glutathione in the body or you can buy that inject too from some sources.

Very informative explanation, you learned me something, that's for sure, thank you mate! I just ordered a product that contains 8 active ingredients, including these you described as the most effective. Do you think its better to take it throughout the cycle or better after the cycle, in a healing phase, for the best recovery? I'm also wondering how to translate my ALT and AST from European values to "100 respectively 120" Mine was 2x higher than the healthy reference range (1.56Ukat/l), even on TRT dose of 175mg Test / week, not drinking, no drugs or any orals... I suppose that's something to be worry about...

press1's picture

Definitely take it while on the cycle and for a while after the cycle if I were you, even when just on low Test I like to continue taking supps for general health. It sounds like you have never taken liver supps before? maybe this is why your values could be high? I don't take as much when on - every other day really. I am not sure how to convert bud, perhaps someone else could chime in? I would say though if its twice the reference range and you are not taking anything else then it definitely should be looked into. It could be a build up of fat maybe from previous years of taking other things I am really not sure, for sure it would be worth getting a doctor to look into it. Better to be safe bro Good

Yeah, you definitely made me more concerned into it... I will draw new bloods soon, I'll get these checked again and bring the result to a doctor as well. I was supplementing liv 52 about year in a row, maybe even more, that was during my first cycles, but later I somehow stopped... I also did Glutamine and NAC and also milk thistle in several "cycles" in the past years, but I don't run them regularly. Definitely going to discuss this with a doctor to see what how serious my concern should be and I'll behave accordingly... Thank you for opening my eyes buddy Smile

Well you know I won’t be skipping my liver pills after reading all this stuff. That some scary stuff right there

press1's picture

Mate literally as I type this I am having my daily liver concoction of Milk Thistle, Astragalus Root, Choline, Vitamin C, Inositol, Turmeric all mixed in with protein powder and dextrose in a cup. Yes it tastes like turd but I'm use to it! Lol

I was going to put up some more horrific liver piccy's but realised everyone would have to scroll through them each time to read the comments so figured the crusty one at the bottom would suffice lol

Dad died of liver cirrhosis. 40 years of alcoholism. Made me extremely health conscious especially while running gear.
I get liver values checked every 3-4 months.
Liver supports/Detox blends, NAC, Choline, SAM-e almost everyday on or off cycle with orals too. Keeps my liver values in healthy range.

Very Sorry to hear that buddy, was he on a transplant list or did they not find one in time?

You do right with the supplements mate, I also do the same even when just on low test. Its regimented into me now and plus sometimes I feel it helps appetite a little when its low, Artichokes are really good for appetite & the liver.

Unfortunately it was so bad that once the liver gives out, the pancreas follows right with it. And when the pancreas goes its only a matter of hours/days with a failed liver.

I don't know how your father was to you but in his death is brought knowledge. You are a more wise fellow because of it and can learn from his faults. Praise to you for recognizing a deadly past time. Moving forward those you touch in life you can possibly teach to be better. God bless you and your progenitors.

JEX30Sex's picture

Still an EU thing for sure. Mostly eastern Europe. I ate it I think while stationed over there I think. It was good. I had it on a kebap with garlic sauce and onions. Now ostrich on the other hand...I ate in Melbourne and it tasted like freezer burnt meat but I didn't try it again as well as vegemite which I did NOT like and it gave me horrible gas on my flight to Tasmania. Funny at the time but now I feel terrible for my other flight patrons. People here are attached to their horses like they are to there dogs and rightly so. I would only ever eat my doggy if in the most dire straights (a good band) when I want me some MTV.

Recently started drinking beet juice every day for liver cleansing, super gross but supposed to be good for detoxing and keeping liver healthy so fuck it, might switch to a beet supplement instead tho.
