Grocery shopping and meal prep

ad

Curious to hear what others do for their meal prep.

I usually do all my grocery shopping on Sunday early am before the crowds. Buy my meats at bjs and cook everything up on Sunday. Package it. put it away and I'm good for the day while at work. It's a but tedious and monotonous but it works. Best part is I don't have to deal with it during the week. Between gym, work and kid. I don't want to deal with anything more during the week lol

I work in an office so I also do all my ironing on Sunday. Another thing I don't have to worry about during the week

Ive gotten pretty good at the food deal. I buy all the meats at once. I go to a wholesale meat
place and buy in 40 lb boxes. Inside the box are 4-10 lb bags. I usually buy Bnls/Skinless chicken thighs
and Jumbo wings. (40 lbs each ) come home and bag them into smaller zip lock bags. I only do this about
once a month. I BBQ everything.. or I take the thighs and grind them in the kitchen and make meatballs
or hamburger patties out of them.

You can grind the meat and put it back into the freezer and use it
for something else. I treat the thigh meat like you would ground hamburger,, but way less fat.
You can mix stuff into that as well. ( sausage, real ground hamburger or what ever.) the best part
is im only paying about $1.20 a lb for the chicken.. the guy I buy from sells to Krogers,Marsh.etc..

I get it before it hits the stores and gets a jack up price and is repackaged. I talked to him the
last time I was there and I can get fish - 10 lb for $15.00..so thats a $1.50 a lb.. instead of like $5-10 a
pound at the stores.. this cuts my food bill way down..I can get a long list of other meats as well..
NY strip steaks are $5.00 each. (HUGE !!) 1-1/2 in thick..amazing black angus meat..I can rib, roasts, etc,

Doing this saves me money and time.I also shop at ALDI"s..which is a discount food
place.. there the same company as Trader Joe's if you have one of those local.. ALDI"s saves me
a ton of money.. the prices are what you be paying in the 1980's.. really low.. ( ive paid $1.75 for a
gallon of milk. - I buy 4 at time )..very cheap.. dont have everything.. but I eat like a hog.. so its
pretty good.. nice frozen section too..

As for prep work.. I dont really do that.. I graze in the kitchen. I make a sh-t load then eat
as I go. I dont box up food either.I probably should do that. But to make a ton and
then pick out of the fridge is easier ..- :-)_
