I know the thread is a few weeks old but now but I havent been here in a minute. My thoughts? I was honestly hoping for something a little heavier I know they have the chops ( think 10,000 days on tren lol) but with that being said Its growing on me , you cant deny how talented those guys are especially danny Carey on drums. Not my personal favorite and it took 13 years for this assumption but still a great album. I personally just wanted a little more progression from tool because it's more or less went the same direction as the new perfect circle album
Tool takes a few careful listening sessions to fully appreciate.. It's complex and Intelligent music.. they've definitely evolved once again from album to album..im enjoying it very much though..I now have years of musical enjoyment from this new album.. one that took years to finally complete. And quite possibly the last album...but who knows?
thanks for the heads up on it. got it playing in the background on spotify.
first seen Tool live before anyone knew who they were. they played a small side stage at Lollapalooza.
Everyone was talking about them and you knew as soon as you heard them that they would be big.
Pnuema is my early favorite as well. I have two complete runs through the album now. I am reserving judgement yet. One thing I really noticed is Danny has those drum perfectly tuned and perfectly mic'd. A negative to ,e at this point is they really do fuck around a lot, almost to the point of calling it a jam album.
Ohhhhhhhh...I didn't take "showering" in (oddly enough) as an activity you were doing while listening to music in there.. scratch the headphones...this song is one of my favs already..about 1:15 in..
Dude I got to work and I had only heard up to the song before that, and I was talking to someone in work and saying I liked the album but they usually have a pretty hard hitting song and it was missing from this album so far. Then I heard 7empest and was like ooooooh there it is!
Maybe you can print out the lyrics and send them to him..not being "funny".. in jail things like reading song lyrics are pretty refreshing and although he won't be able to hear it.. he can kind of get a glimpse of things to come.

So the songs I’m keeping on my phone
Pneuma
Invincible
7empest
jayiskas others have mentioned favorite so far "7empest" but a Tool album needs to be listened to over and over to truly appreciate even more.
I have three full runs in and while I like it overall I cannot help but be honest tho that this is their weakest album against all the others
TronThe top 3 for sure.. I agree.
Tron"7empest".. at about 1:15 in the song.. shit gets REAL... WORKOUT SONG...

Got 3 more tracks to listen to when I get to my desk
10,000 Days would be my fav album
Mines definitely Aenima. They’re all so close though.
That was my first Tool album too.
But the emotional lyrics with 10,000 Days is what gets me
Gonna download here in a minute
I’ve only heard a few so far. But Pneuma has that Tool Sound
