Does a presidential vote even count?
ad
I got into a conversation today... A guy was talkin about the presidential candidates asked me for my opinion and we talked for a few about this... Then I pose this question... Does our vote even count anymore? I stopped voting after the 2000 Gore v. Bush Jr. election. I say, Gore actually won the popular vote 51%. But the electoral votes overturned this. Which means the people voted for Gore, but Bush Jr. was our President? He was done talking politics after this. He acted kinda mad? Like dont talk about that. Did I not get the memo or something? Does no one remember this?... What do you guys think? Believe me I am american, I have the flag flying at my house. Guess it goes back to the saying I love my country but I fear my gov't?

if it was up to me i would throw everyone out of office right now, create term limits to rid us of these dam career politicians, take away voters rights for people who are on wellfare, drug test wellfare recipients, enforce law against hiring illegals, open up cross state health insurance, legalize drugs, open up drilling in the states and Gulf of Mexico, give tax insentives to manufacturers who bring their company's back from the squinty eyes, put an end to privatized unions; point a nuke at north korea, pakistan, and iran and i would say to them "just give me one more reason ONE...MORE...REASON and i'll do it."
blackmktohhh man. love your ideas. power to the people.
I like the way you think... I damn sure dont want to be in charge. But, I do need some new bastard to blame for everything being soooo F'd up. Thanks
Thanks guys for a little clarification, and more confusion. I agree though man... I think everybody knows politicians are crooked, but nothing ever happens to them. I wish I would have made different choices and become a senator. Served 1 term retire w/ full pension and beneys. But for now I give almost 40% of my gross earnings in taxes so the people on welfare I know can go on cruises and shit, cause they dont have jobs to be at and just got thousands of $'s for being breeders.
Well, to toss a match at a bucket of gasoline thats been poured on the floor.... if you wanna throw numbers around, aaaaactually, Gore took 48.4% to Bush's 47.9% which is basically a statistical tie. As for the state count, Gore took 20 (21 counting DC) to Bush's 30 states. Whats really scary is to look at the maps and see how the results almost swung Gores way based on the input strictly from the population centers on the west coast and in the northeast... basically the "gimme dat gubmint money" areas almost put him in... and the "gdgm" crowd DID succeed in putting in the turkey we have there now... remember "He's gonna take care of me Peggy" from Fla? I was living in Fla at that time, and she was not a fluke... there was bunches that felt that if they helped vote him in, that the gubmint was gonna take care of them. What was really sad was going to the early voting with a real good friend who is a disabled vet, and watching these kids and others go and get their ballot and 30 secs later they had voted... this was a FOUR PAGE BALLOT... several county ordinances, state, locals, etc were all on the ballot, and the only thing they showed for was to vote on ONE thing on the ballot... I watched several of them after they left the booths and carried their ballots back... nothing marked off except a vote for 'da one'.. they could have cared less about what/why they were voting, all they wanted to do was be hip, cool, or whatever and say they voted for him... and we wonder why we are in the shape we are in today.... and like Tread said, whats really gonna be scary is when the Greece syndrome hits over here... buncha people gonna find out that light at the end of the tunnel is a oncoming train!!
BTW, Tread... you woulda had fun out here today... pulled the new AR I just built out along with the custom .45 and went out to the back yard with a bud and his AR.. did some rockin and rollin, and realized "Damn... been way too long since I had the ol .45 out!!"
tread-mWhat I laugh about is people threatening this and that about their free money not understanding its coming down to a battle between the NRA and the stick owners! All hail Heston and the regulators! Lol
tread-mThe electorate does not overturn anything, they vote as their district did as per the wishes of the people. this is a long conversation but the rules apply to everyone including both candidates in that election. There were 3 recounts in the state that was to decide the decision in that election and the answer was as you saw. We are a republic , not a democracy as everyone seems to think and the system allows proper weight to areas of the country that might not have proper weight otherwise when thinking of their population vs their contribution. Much more to it than that but the short answse is that both parties have the option To try and create a "popular vote" system and have declined to do so. This means the rules are the rules and both parties play by the rules that are in place. Both parties suck ass, we don't have liberal and conservative as it once was , we have liberal and real liberal....driving us to hell with socialism and "free money" unless you happen to be like me and only get to have your money taken so they can decide who it belongs to now. Again for the 20th year in a row I will pay in. while I know people who paid nothing all year and had a truck load of kids that are getting huge checks back. The 2 party system is broken and it is only a matter of time now before the country falls apart right around us and we start fresh unless its too late. I can tell you this, when the people they take all the money from run out of money and the free checks stop going out to all the people who get them, you better be a gun owner cuz all fing hell is going to break loose just like it has everywhere else where socialism has failed...welcome to Greece.
I say it all the time! I vote every election but I know it does as much good as a bucket does when your tryin to empty the ocean
