Clean and Sober, My Story.
By the time I was 16 yrs old I was drinking and smoking pot on a daily basis. When I tuned 18 I did my first line of cocaine, didn't stop snorting coke until I was 21 when I found the love of my life, methamphetamine. The next three years my life consisted of smoking meth, and doing what i had to do to get more. I would stay up for 5-7 days at atime, then sleep for 24-36 hours straight, then do it again, and again, and again....
I can remember on my 24th birthday back in 2005 being homeless, running out of couches to crash on, and going no where but down. I would lie, cheat, manipulate and steal from anyone just to get one more. I was a total junkie. All my friends had disowned me, my family wouldn't talk to me. I was all alone.
It was October 5, 2005 that I hit my rock bottom and made a life-changing decision. I went to a homeless shelter that had a long-term recovery program. I spent the next year at that homeless shelter learning how live like a normal people, learning how to live without drugs or alcohol. It was that year that turned me into the man I am today.
Over 6 years clean and sober still, and I still feel its that experience that defines me as the man I am today. I'm so grateful for my life experience, and what I had to go through to get here.
That's my story, just thought I would share. I know for a fact that there are other members on eroids that have went through similar situations. I understand if they don't speak up and break their aninomity.

It takes a lot to share your story like that. I definitely have a lot of respect for you and I am actually just shy of two and a half years clean from a heroin addiction that tore. My life apart and nearly got me killed a few times. Thanks for being open about it and giving those of us in similair situations some inspiration. On another good note look at how we've gone to a lifestyle where our bodies are now a serious priority and we are all working together to achieve common goals.
Congrats Nate!!!
There are no congratulations in recovery you never graduate and all a chip is to me is anther day of sanity. There is no finish line except for the end of our time on this earth. You either choose sobriety or you die or end up in jail. That is all. I understand the congrats but I am sober for me and no one else. I do my helping others as I am a sponsor of some cool dudes who want sobriety over death or jail.
Nasty81NateWell put Sweat....u sound like a friend of Bill to me.
Yes I am my brother and our stories are very familiar. Cheers to you as I take a big swag of some syntha-6 and eat a spinach salad. Sobriety is great isn't it.
Nasty81NateBest thing that ever happened to me...molded me into the man I am today.
beavisNearly made a post similar to this no shit earlier today before work, except more along the lines of how aas helped me to get off booze,so i could reap the real benefits of using it. I too have been in very similar situation as this. I had a blow habit for 10 years that would make even Pablo Escobar envious... Now I do still have some beers now and then(pisses the wife off cause she knows the beast) but I do my best to keep it in check. It's been months now and who knows I may not go back, But I slowed way the fuck down when I started taking gear seriously. I'm glad you made'er back though NN it's tough I know.
For me it was oxys and cocaine. Cant say that there is a large length of time that I have been sober, I still occasionally get high, but its very rarely. I haven't used anything in six months. It feels good and its good to hear your story. I wondered if there were other ppl on here similar to me. For me, its all about keeping busy. Bodybuilding helps me with this, along with school, and I love the results.
Nate....you're a G to share this with us. I've got a very similar past but a tad more on the violent side. I lost tons of friends to H/OC and drug induced violence. People used to tell me all the time "you're still alive?" it's quite sad. That's why I owe my life to bodybuilding it's the only thing that kept me alive, the only reason I grew up, the only positive thing there was to help me and keep me doing good. I went from druggie loser to bodybuilding college athlete that holds a ft job. The things we can do if we believe in ourselves and WANT to change is amazing.
cycoTouching story bro. I have lost so many,to the devil. I am glad you fought back,n survived the struggle. It takes every ounce of will power. To overcome the black ocean, that takes you under. You fycking held your breath like a fish, and adapted.
Nasty81NateIt's the best and worst thing that ever happened to me.
I feel u on that, I regret a lot of the things I did, mostly to my family but at the same time I gained street smarts and learned so much about the bad sides of ppl and society that I could pick it out in anyone I meet just by their demeanor. Being an addict gave ne vibes ill never be able to shake off and ill always be able to smell someones bullshit a mile away. Me and my very close friends got into the craziest most petty fights and arguments over the littlest amount of dope or pack of cigs or whatever, drugs turned me n my boys into stingy grimy ppl and it sucks some are dead some are in prison and two are still on the shit. I have two close friends that made it out the other side plus myself. We are all extra cool with each other now tho, its nice that a couple of us made it
shit i would +10 this if i could homie you deserve it!
I was there my date is January 26th 2002 sobriety date. (10 years in 6 days). Chasing that pussy with that white powder problem was that pussy disappeared when that white powder was gone leaving me chasing that white powder. The power that you think you have when you got 3 little hotties and a quart size ziploc bag full of the white.A messed up conundrum.
Keep it up bro 6 years clean is great!!!! Very good story indeed sounds like you made a complete360 turn for the better keep it up brotha!!!
Two ways I could look at it. I'm unfortunate to have lost 17 of my friends from ODing, DUI accidents, gun fights, etc. Or I'm the lucky one that still here writing this and learned from them. I smartened up, moved outta the state, got married, had kids and got smart with my life. Now I have two beautiful girls and a amazing wife. Hurts to of lost so many people but I was going down the same path. A lot of close calls. Now I work and live for my girls. Thanks Nate for your story.
kinda funny there is and add for suboxone right now under your post
Thats a big part of the reason im on TRT and only 28. couple years of vics, oxys, and morphine.now im on suboxone probably for the rest of my life that shit is harder to quit then the other stuff is. Im 100% clean now and have been for about 2 years but the damage has been done. on a good note I get pharma grade test legally
Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like you found hope and have some positive momentum. My life sounds similar to yours.....one day at a time!
Thanks for sharing nate, I too battled with addiction. I was shooting heroin and oxy's, any opiate I could get. Im a little over a year clean and I love life now.
biggerthanyouCongrats bro, I too am in recovery! Almost a year in now! Staying clean one day at a time
AnonYour story sounds similar to mine. But i havent hit rock bottom yet maybe soon.. Hoopefully not.. But 14-18 were the best years of my life had so much fun.
Nasty81NateI'll be the first to admit, I had some great times. Was on top of the world for a number of years..but eventually everyone quit partying like me, so I started people that did party like me..and eventually I found people that were straight up dope fiends like me. I try not to glamorize the fun times, I try to remember the painful ones. Its the pain that keeps me clean and sober.
AnonIts only when you get older your "Friends" dont want to hang around and everyone goes there seperate ways.. THats life though
Nasty81NateMy "friends" quit hanging around when I was broke, with no dope. They'd all be right back at my place on payday though. My friends today are the guys I met in recovery, life-long friends for sure.
AnonI met my gf and started changing.. Glad everythings working out for you.
You got a nice stash too lol
if it wasn't for bodybuilding i would be dead. either from a drug overdose or suicide. i was an alcoholic and a cocaine dealer and heavy user by my late teens. it completely fucked with my head... i owe allot to bodybuilding. i believe it literally saved my life, and undid allot of damage to my mind and body from years of abuse
AnonWe are everywhere, some up, some still down and some about to get right and some about to fall off. I loved the lifestyle and thought I was okay until a jail cell became my reality. Being the 100% White Moped Type that place wasn't me. I haven't used since.
My story is very similar.except.instead of homeless I got convicted of assualt while.binging out and got a year in jail that will straighten almost anybody out
JtizzleMakes us far better men , lovers and people after it's all said and done. Just be glad for the ones like us who make it out alive bro...
dansta123nice sharing..meth pipes are going about like peeps be passing a blunt nowadays here-down under..never no good.lost a brother to rec.drug intake..im no saint and when celebrations are in air i will indulge..just nothing like it was back in my 20s..great post nate..hard thing living this life sober.
Tripped Acid for the first time when I was 14. X Tabs from 18-21 like they were pez. Shot, snorted and smoked anything I could get my hands on. Totaled my car on xanax and tequila and punched the cop in the face at 21. Did 2 years in prison for that little number. I was a piece of shit worthless liar and thief. Sitting in prison at the young age 0f 21 my father whom I hadnt spoken to in 5 or so years started to come see me every weekend. He made amends for all the abuse he put me through as a child and we are still best friends to this day. He still believed in me at my worst. Now I'm 2 months shy of 30 and I work in an office at a cool ass company. Next year I plan on going into business for myself, guess who my partner is going to be? yep thats right, good ole Pops. I should be dead today for the way I lived my teens. Now I have a solid future ahead of me. Started lifting while down and have never stopped. It keeps me honest. I live in the gym instead of the bar or dopehouse. It's never too late to become who you're meant to be. @nate, you seem like a cool ass dude, man. Stay safe and keep getting big!
It's something I've noticed in life, I'm convinced that the lower we've been the higher we can go.
Your story is a familiar one. Drugs, life styles or other various "life mistakes" aside, there are members here that could choke grip a rabid bull till it's eyes pop, and then eat that bitch in a week. And not because of steroids, everyone can do steroids... It's the MFer.
He sleeps down below, much lower than the average person has ever been. Wakes up only by the sound of you hitting the bottom and if he doesn't kill you, the MFer will be there with you when a bull needs killing.
Nasty81NateGood stuff BFG.. I never want to forget the MFer in me, I know he's just waiting for me to give him a chance. One lil slip, and bam its on like donkey kong...and I know it ain't gonna be pretty.
TxBigBoyDamn BFG that was kinda poetic bro, good shit
nate, pm me if you get time
Brother, I started smoking pot when I was 15, then at 18 did coke for the first time, that was the love of my life as you said it, I did coke until I was 24, at least 500$ every week-end. I then got in trouble for selling coke to an undercover cop at 24 years old, got busted, 3 years probation. I am 28 now, stayed clear of coke for almost 5 years now, I still smoke pot but I consider myself way better than I used to be. Over the past 4 years I got back in shape, done studying, I am not working for my dad's company in the financial sector. I know I will always be an addict, it's in my genes, I gotta find a way to control it and live with it. I sometimes think that my love for AAS has something to do with my addictive personality, like any other drug it affects my behavior and my thinking in some way, I also think that many of us here are "hidden drug addicts" and for us AAS are simply a replacement for the drugs we used to take, many won't admit it, but I know for a fact that it's true.
i hear u brother!!! I lost everything my house my wife my kid and ended up xactly where u were homeless!! although i was addicted to oxys n heroin it really doesnt matter wat ur drug of choice is when u take it to that extreme it will destroy you! im clean and sober now i have a home a great job a bank account and and a awesome girlfriend to boot all things most people take for granted. i wouldnt change my experience either even tho it was almost a 10 year path of destruction it made me who i am and i as well am very gratefull for my life today!!
It takes a lot to share a story like that. I have a buddy going threw the same kind of thing. I glad your still around giving advice to noobs like me. Thanks
