Bitcoin. Is it worth the hassle?

So I have been trying to start using bitcoin but it has gotten a little confusing. I guess you have to create a bitcoin account with one service, and have a bitcoin wallet with another service? I tried setting up a Glidera account linked with Airbitz but I dont know, maybe I didn't take a clear enough picture. Then I tried using Coinbase and they haven't verified anything yet for 2 days.
Just curious if anyone on here has any experience with bitcoin and which apps to use?
