+ 2 Back at it after a long hiatus.
What’s going on, just posting as a hello. Finally getting back into weight training after probably close to a decade! I’ve trained on and off in that time just not super consistently so I’m not fat by any means maybe bmi of 20% or so mid section may be more lol. Mid 30s trained a ton in my military and post military college days, but that was almost a decade ago now. Damn I done got old… anyways just on here freshening up on some scholarly details. Plan to get my body back into the swing of it for a year or so but being older now, I can already tell I may need a push once my tendons reacclimate to being punished daily lol. Never ran a cycle before because I was younger then and saw no need. Trained with several competing bodybuilders (couple with ifbb pro cards) that’s not a brag as I was the smallest dude in the group just mentioning to say that I’m pretty well versed in training/diet methods, always down to learn new information though! No plan to be a bodybuilder whatsoever just trying to be jacked and old I suppose. Got a daughter to keep safe and all. As silly as it sounds that’s a huge motivator for me. F*cked up world we live in, just want to be as intimidating as possible at 5’8” lmao -- Recommendations on any and all things training related, please throw them at me! ✌--

You are only mid 30's mate, that ain't old at all!!
Wait till you get to 44 and then you start questioning where all the fuckin years went LMAO
anvilAnd then 50....
Only jokes of course I know I’m not old but I’m closer to 40 than 30 at this point. Brain tells me I’m 25 body reminds me otherwise daily haha.
You will find a strange curse comes over you as soon as you hit 40, all the injuries suddenly start happening even though you are doing nothing different to normal. Thats when you begin evaluating and increasing your warmups, you stop going for the maxes if you are feeling a bit sore etc. Have to start really putting effort into every aspect of recovery nutrition and MAKING sure you get optimal amounts of sleep each night.
Welcome to the family, we've been keeping a seat warm for you here on the gain train brother. You already know the program. Eat, sleep and train. If you're just getting back into it, start lifting 2-3 days a week and increase from there. I had success doing a 5x5 program featuring compound movements then transitioning to more muscle group specific lifts at higher rep ranges. Get a notebook and track your progress, don't just wing it in the gym. Get reacclimated with the weights, follow a progressive overload and do your best not to get hurt. Certainty incorporate some gear as well ;)
For sure! Already on that been back at it about a month and a half training 3x a week with cardio on off days. Just doing a basic split for now I’ll switch it up after a couple months but just wanted to get the muscles back used to being worked, to avoid injury. Still have some muscle memory so the soreness has decreased except for the legs though I do beat the hell outta them on leg day haha. Found a rowing machine on marketplace for a steal of a deal for the home gym that’s a slept on piece of equipment super low impact but great total body workout. Appreciate the support!! Slow and steady wins it!
