Almost been a year
Need to vent before I go and destroy the town..
It's coming up on a year since I've lost my wife , to cancer. There has not a day gone by that I don't cry (yes cry) thinking about her. My only refuge is work and the gym, I come home and the house is exactly as she left it and he office has not been touched. I've shut everyone out as I will deal with this on my own but I guess when can a person move on and not feel guilty ? I know it's different for everyone and there's no right answer. But what's your MY FAMILY MEMBERS OPINION . I had her creamated and then her ashes sent off and turned into a pink diamond I wear everyday on my necklace. When do I let go ? I have tried but can't find the answer..( any fucking prick wanna make smart ass comments like they did once before I will find U can't hide forever

I don't know you well but, from what I read and the actions you took. I am greatly heartbroken for you man.
If you ever want to make a friend and talk, just PM me man.
AnonI don't think she would want you to be unhappy
So try and remember that and go with your heart
AnonGot dammit man.... I hate this kinda stuff... I don't even want to imagine dealing with this
All I can say is you'll know when it's time
Gym j, you'll never move on per say you'll just get on and go forward. I hope this doesn't Come across as redundant because I didn't even bother
to read down the list before I started typing. until now I completely forgot what you've been dealing with, forgive me, it was easy to do on my part only because you come across as an upbeat and progressive individual. this will be an asset and start as you go forward with life. the effort you put into sharing and giving of yourself here with this community speaks volumes as to your real life character. I can't imagine how you must have and feel my friend, my wife and I been thru the valleys and to the top of the mountain of life and almost losing her to my indiscretions once was more than I could bare. thank God I was given a second chance. I have no doubt you'll be given one too. I can't pretend to think I know you like we've grown up together, but dam it man when you get to my age and interact with someone for awhile you can't help but get an idea of what kind of person you're dealing with. I'm sure it's safe to assume that her love and passion runs as deep for you as it does for her, and I'm also going to bet that no matter what, she'd be at peace knowing that whatever you decide to do would be right as long as you're happy brother. I can say with certain that I've had my fair share of death and losing MANY people that I've loved, with time the pain is always replaced with fond and happy memories. won't mean a day goes by that you won't miss her. but it will get somewhat easier. I haven't proof read this or gave a second thought as to what i said. it was meant to be straight from the heart. you're a warrior and have a warrior's heart this means it's ok to let it out grieve, many of my warrior brothers forget this, and think they must hold it all inside, please don't, it'll just hold you back, if you need an ear I'll be a pm away. May what ever higher power you put your faith in lift you, guide you, heal you, and bless you my friend. hand on your shoulder, crocodile tear in my eye.
RustyhookerHorrible to imagine your loss bro. We've chatted many times and I'm always here to listen. Have faith in the facts she is watching and with you everywhere you go. I don't think it's as much as moving on as it is living life full and making her proud of you. Would she want the best for you as well?
Take care big bro
AnonI am truly sorry for your loss. Have you ever considered speaking to a professional about this? I hear you say you are dealing with this on your own, but sometimes finding someone to help you through the grief process can be beneficial.
I was the same way, always internalizing and compartmentalizing my emotions, I never let anyone in after the things that happened to me. And it took me down a very dark road that I am only getting through this past year after torturing myself for 6 long years.
I understand your pain, losing someone you love is never easy. There are people who can help you sort through your emotions and deal with this in a healthy way. You might not see the light at the end of the tunnel, and thats ok. You have to get through the pain to heal. No matter how hard it seems you can get through it. I wish you the best bro.
I appreciate The kind words my brothers .. It means a lot sometimes it's hard to pick yourself up but this makes it easier
I dont know bro, when it will get better, if it will get better , I had a close call with it with my wife , luckily she went through the cemo and radiation , and is in remission for years ... but when this was going on , I would break down, so I can only imagion the pain and loss you feel. I will be honest with the fucked up 49 years I been alive (I cant call it a life) only the last 4 years or so with her has been a life ..im stuck for words , I would be right where your at . Im not sure if you have any children or grand children . But if it was I, I would know my wife would want me to be strong , and be there and look after our 7 grand children , and let them know what a woderful person she was , and I would stride to never let her be forgotton.I think this is the only thing that would keep me going. Something I never told a living soul , till right NOW , is I purched a bottle of roxicodone 30mg. And xanax 1mg. I was going to go with her.. very selfish of me I know but just but.. you know I beleive the body dies but the energy of a person lives on , now this may sound off the wall , but I would be looking for signs of my wifes presence .. like a smell, you will be with her one day agion. Hope I helped some , need anything hollor at me friend , sometimes I friggen hate being on cycle , my dam hormones and emotions. I had to choke back the tears just talking about what I went through and it cant compare to your sisuiation. Stay strong friend. Pege
That was deep brother. I know full well what you mean about the emotions on cycle. I gotta admit tho I kind of like that aspect, You know you are alive when you feel everything around you.
Anyway, GJ you know we are all thinking about you and sending positive energy your way.
Yes you most definitely know your alive , when you can feel,
Heart goes out to you junkie. A lot of us, I would say maybe most of us will never feel the happiness and closeness you obviously had before your loss. Only time heals such wounds and in some ways never completely. No matter what you're told there is no defined protocol for mourning so do it your way on your time. Your wife was obviously special and very good to you for you missing her like this and she definitely would want you to live fulfilled, be happy, to strive and excel at whatever you do, and yes to love again. Sometimes it can take some drastic changes to overcome the inertia- you may need a change of scenery or to move or something. I know friends who lost a child and could not bring themselves to enter the kids rooms and pick up the toys. It took family and friends coming in to help overcome the sting of some of what is left behind. Dude ask for help and dont struggle alone.
She will be in your heart forever GJ. You will never let her go. You dont have to let her go, okay? You might meet somone else, but that will take time. You stay in the gym and keep working. I know how much progress you have made over the years, too. I have read your posts and every time i do my weighted chin ups on back day, i think about you. Just hang in there. Sorry for your loss. Your post brings light to my life and opens up my eyes. Brother, you still have her in that pink diamond, and you always will. Prayers for you and your family.
The saying goes "you never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only option." My prayers are with you and this isn't something that can be just brushed off. Its sad bro, I'm sorry this happen to you. Keep your faith and slowly ease on in the dating pool. Godspeed
You're a really good man with an absolute loving heart brother! I wish I could find the right words to help you deal with your pain which I cannot fathom! You're in my thoughts and prayers!
Love sent!
StevebI think finding someone else might make you feel better. I'm sure your wife would want you to be happy.
jzagSorry for your loss man. That's sad. I think the pink diamond was a good idea.
Sorry brother. I've never lost a wife but have lost loved ones and I haven't let go of any of them. Its just seems that the further down the road it has been and the more I have explored my feelings and hurt (yes cried about it) the less it seems to hurt when I remember them. Some still hurt worse than others of course. When I speak of them and think of them I smile even though a tear might pop up.
I believe the answer IS time. Its not when you let go, its just when you stop hurting so damn bad and start smiling when you remember them.
Gym junkie my heart goes out to you..
I can only imagine the hurt and pain. Cause as we all know losing a family memer is hard but the wife, the love of your life is just sooo hard. For me the shoe is on the other foot
for me. Alittle over a year ago i met the woman i fell head over heels in love with. Who was and is in the same boat as you. She lost her high school love of 9 years to a heart attack at early 30"s . That was about 2 years ago. I know she still loves him and i know somewhere she keeps pictures . But i have a big heart and not a jealous man.
Take your time bro. And always keep her with you. And if and when you meet someone be honest with them. Cause im glad my girl was honest with me. If you ever have questions and if i can help FR me. I live with this
AnonYou are exactly right about being no answer, this is one of the cruel parts of our world, death. I dont know you, but im guessing we would be similar, all I can say to you is this.. she is the love of your life, she always will be, think of the way she would want you to live, she wants you to be happy, brother I dont care who you are or how hard, big, tough etc there is nothing wrong with crying, in fact its a good thing sometimes, you are allowed to move on, its natural, does not mean you are forgetting or disrespecting you beloved wife, it means your trying to make the most of what you have to try and live a somewhat happy life, live your life through her, live it with happiness and instead of feeling down or guilty, cherish the memories and look in the mirror and smile, each time you smile remember your smiling for her and the special times you shared, become the best man you can be and dedicate all sucess in her memory, we are humans we dont have the answers whrn it comed to this and all we can do is try, and who knows buddy, you may see each other again in another place or time, or she is guiding you as an angel already and you dont even realise. I want you to take care my friend, smile and do what you can to be happy. I know what it feels like to lose someone.. im here to chat even if im a stranger, sorry for your loss.
I do not have any personal experience with this. I am sorry for your loss. What I can say is that I have an uncle who recently lost his beloved wife and I have watched him choose to embrace life even more fully in her honor. He spends more time nurturing relationships with his siblings and his children and grandchildren. He embraces ordinary friendships and fosters happiness at every corner. I believe, as does he, that she would have wanted him to be happy and so that is what he chooses to do. He embraces happiness in her honor.
bigwillyyou don't let go. you keep that woman and her memory with you until you leave this place. yea, you move on and continue living but ya don't ever let her go. your not meant to bro. no reason she cant live on threw you. even if another woman wer to ebter your life, don't mean she needs to be only a memory. we care and we remember bro, we human brother, don't let any one tell you to let go.
Sorry to here this GJ. Losing someone is very hard and to cancer makes it even harder watching them go slowly and suffering. It may take a couple years to get over brother, but your taking steps now by feeling it and morning it and talking about it. No matter how strong you think you are, it will take surrounding yourself with a few good friends or family eventually to pull you out of the hole you feel like your in, and realize that life goes on and life can still be awesome. Take your time GJ that's all you need right now.
I'm sorry for your loss GJ. My grandfather passed away three years ago from lung cancer. He was ruled cancer free, and then within four months his cancer came back and killed him. I watched my father go from block of granite his whole life to pebbles, largely eaten away by the guilt that he couldn't help... He was in a different country, where medical help is a waiting list unless you can pay in cash.
My father, a man whom for almost three years in high school I refused to even admit existed (we lived in the same household and wouldn't talk) sought healing by looking to me. Not as a crutch, but as a man who needed to make himself vulnerable to me in order to let our relationship flourish, to have with me what he might not have had the time or opportunity to have with his own father. And it was beautiful, to have a man I thought had no emotion open up and let me in, our bond solidified and has been stronger than ever.
It isn't easy for you, I know, just as it wasn't easy for him. You can't shut the world out GJ, even if it is the easier thing to do. You have to let yourself be vulnerable to people, because they will nurture you back to life. I'm not saying go out and YOLO, but reconnect with those who were closest to you, let them In, bit by bit. You still are physically attached to your wife, and that is perfectly ok. Everyone heals at a different rate, but once you let others back into your life, you need to accept that your wife is always with you. The office being left untouched or the house being the way she left it is you physically holding on, but you're already mentally strong bro. You will learn to let the physical go, and keep her in your mind with everything you do. These will come naturally to you when you're ready, you can't force it. The pink diamond is a great gift that let's you always have a piece of her, and when you're ready you'll realize you always her with you no matter what.
You can always hit me up in PM. Stay strong GJ, more than just with your muscles!
I am sorry brother... I cannot even fathom the pain of losing my wife. You no doubt loved her as deeply as I love my own and there is no time limit on mourning bro. I am choking up a bit typing this..I am sorry I don't really have an answer for you..
You deal with it in your own way, nobody else's opinion matters. I lost my mother in November and I've reacted so differently to what I thought I would even though I knew it was coming, (also cancer), I'll openly admit it's been tough. The gym is also my outlet, especially on the days where I feel angry and start feeling sorry for myself.
If you're not ready to change things, then don't. All in YOUR time when YOU are ready.
Sorry mate. If you ever need to talk / moan / sound off you know where I am.
I'm sorry for your loss brother! Be strong and i think when your ready to move forward you will know.
1st I just want to say that I'm sorry for your loss brother I couldn't even begin to imagine what that must feel like me and the wife are inseparable. All I can really give you is this brudda, never forge her or move on big man just try to smile and laugh when you think of her (don't know you personally ) but I'm sure that's what she would want man for you to be happy . So just do whatever feels right brother be happy and live the life you want
Tried that then I feel guilty
Maybe you can start letting people back in man sometimes good company helps and you shouldn't feel guilty bro lots of things in life are totally out of our control. You'll figure it out, it might just be as simple as time itself
