workout partners
I miss having a workout partner someone to push Ya. I used to have a good workout partner we worked together but he since got a new job and works third shift and trains at like six in the morning. Even when I didn't want to be there or no energy once we got goin the competitive juices started to flow and I always ended up having a good workout. I'm just curious as how everyone deals with not having a great training partner. A good workout partner is essential to help past barriers. I love forced reps and getting the last few reps which I couldnt do on my own. Don't get me wrong I have great workouts but it feels like I could get a little more out of each workout than I am now. Is there anyone here on eriods that feels they have better workouts on there own than with a great workout partner. Is this possible? Just looking for some ideas starting a new cycle and I want to get every bit out of myself every workout.

I've had a few good ones but the greatest one was the youngest brother of one of my friends that I knew when he was 12. He started going to my gym at 18 (I was 22) and kept bugging me for help and workouts. I have him some and he loved it. He started bugging me if he could train with me. I train heavy (for me) and idc about the pump too much, so not a lot people enjoy working out with me because the next day they would feel the hurt of powerlifting. This kid would push me harder than anyone else. Like in one year of working out, he put on 30lbs naturally and I gained 10 naturally.
Just a little perspective, just cuz they don't seem like much right away, doesn't mean they don't have potential
That's true bro but just trying to find someone that can stay motivated goin to the gym five or six days a week for l longer than a month can be a challenge
That's why you don't look for a workout partner.... You make a workout partner
Dr Frankenstein style I like it lol
I cant train without a shit-hot partner........ its impossible for me to even try to do over-weighted negatives without a spotter.
Only time i ever train alone is pre-comp when i hit Abs and hammer the core exercises (never train Abs off season.. its destructive and burns too many calories)
Do u have multiple training partner u can hit the gym with? Or just one person as dedicated as u. Maybe your taking bout suze she would out lift and workout 99 percent of the guys here. Sucks bro all my friends are lazy and sit around play video games.
Yeah different gyms with different people bro..... Suze is great to train with also, never speaks ..... it is just all business when she hits the gyms... she is sooo fit she can actually put me under pressure with just enough time to eat a couple of big mouthfuls of oxygen between sets.
Her favourite for destroying clients is Barbell walking lunges........... ive seen so many bloody noses and projectile vomiting from that its untrue lol
Can I borrow Suze? She sounds exactly like how I train.
These days I train with a well known strongman competitor. Different goals, but works ok. Seriously strong boy, (top 5 uk strongman previously), but obviously not into aesthetics like I am.
Them barbell lunges are no joke. I started doing them after seeing Kai Greene do them in one of his videos. They hit!
doing them tonight nothing better bro. I also favor the hack squat but using tom platz methods guy had the largest legs in bodybuilding of all time with damn proper definition.
Lmao what's the gym policy if the personal trainer makes u puke is the personal trainer responsible for clean up on isle three lol. In all seriousness u can tell she all out in the gym u don't build the kind of physique she has without pushing the boundaries
What!? You have to work out? I thought all you had to do was take roids, I want a refund.
Dude roids and fast food everyday and by next week u should be able to qualify for the Olympia.
I'll spot you....
Hey I need a good workout partner
Yea same, I find it hard to workout with someone unless they are completely on the same page as you when it comes to training
There's only a few people I've ever trained with that I would ever train with a second time. They mostly fall into one of the following categories:
Unreliable (especially on leg day for some strange reason).
Like 5 minutes of rest after every set.
Mess around on their mobile while they're training.
Too much talking, not enough lifting.
If they fit into any of the above, I'd rather be on my own. I don't like my training being messed up by anyone or anything, it's my only bit of "selfish time".
Have u ever had a great workout partner though? My last workout partner I had the best workouts of my life. I live in a small town and there not a lot of options . My town is under 1000 people lol I drive 20 miles one way to get to a gym. Town is tiny under 20k in people.
Edit holy shit a mod tag congrats who else is new mods lol
Great? Only one. An ex Royal Marine Commando, the man is a machine. Pushes me like nobody has ever done before or since. Good ones, three or four. That's not a lot in over twenty years of pushing plates.......
Wow I bet he was to achieve something like that u have to be nothing but heart and no quit in u. Well guess a Great workout partner is impossible to find
I'm in the same boat most of the time. I only get a work out partner, due to schedules, so I'm almost always stuck on my own. I've tried to recruit folks, but they are usually beginners and they don't last more than a week or two, before they go back to whatever they did before lifting.
I've found that eroids has been a great motivator and talking to folks here about pushing myself and setting goals. If I don't set specific goals (i.e. weight, reps, etc.), I usually find that I stagnate pretty quickly into a regular routine.
The other option is to hire a trainer. This is a great option if you can find the right one, but it can be cost prohibitive. I guess it depends on what you want to accomplish and what you're willing to spend.
I wish there was an easy answer, but if there was, we wouldn't be talking right now! :-)
Lol dude the trainers where I workout is a joke. There not one that could lift with me. There six trainers there three girls three guys. There one that looks good but he's like five six and weights 170. One guy is in late 40 s he can't bench 185. The other is my height but weight 180 ta 190 and I warm up with the weight he uses. I guess they could spot me but really don't think it's worth the hourly cost just to spot me
I hear you! Even if someone can afford a trainer, finding one that can actually do the job you need them to do, is even harder than affording one!
There was one guy at my gym who's an animal, but he just recently left. Bummer.
Oh well I keep myself motivated. At least I'm not the only one with this problem
Yes, depending on who you choose to train with, would determine if it's beneficial or not. I have had the talkative workout partners and I can attest they suck. I have also had great workout partners, that help with that last forced rep, which is great for growth. I would personally rather train alone and although it probably has hindered my gains a bit, I'm able to come and go as I please. When I need that forced rep I can just call for a quick spotter. In essence, my schedule fluctuates and having a constant "workout buddy", just isn't feasible to my schedule.
I get every workout not having a workout partner but days like chest where someone to push u real helps me. I'm a competitive person almost to a fault so if he can do something six times I can do it seven. The problem bout my gym is most time when I go it's old people like 60 plus I wouldn't trust them to spot me if I was curling lol.
Lmfao. If you can afford it then get a trainer on your chest days. Tell him to shut up and train you. He's getting paid to train not to talk,( unlike a workout buddy) plus you don't have to wait until his set is over, until you can regain your pump. It takes a certain chemistry in order to find the right workout partner.
Wow congrats brother a mod tag :). Hell Ya make us proud u and catalyst new mods
Thanks brother
