Why no pump

ad

I don't get a pump with any gear except igf 1
And even that faded to more of just feeling like I'm hitting the targeted muscle group than a pump any more.

Where as everything else just is mindlessly working out not feeling anything but my intended muscles targeted do grow.

But I lust after the pump I got as a teenager being barley able to itch my face after arm curls. Or doms so bad on my forearms it hurt to move them.

I never gets doms anymore either...

I had this issue for the last week and it was because of sleep. I was fatigued!

When it comes to a pump... Diet is always the key.
High carb diets ---lots starch work best for me, but everyone is different.

Just curious on water intake? I notice a difference when I'm somewhat dehydrated

lifting211's picture

Both on and off cycle, water intake and carb intake is too much but I don't seem to process food correctly almost always have to use the restroom after eating

Sweat profusely. Get dehydrated easily.

That sounds like you might have a underlying medical issue that needs to be checked. I'd see a Dr and pull bloods.

And too much water. Never heard of such a thing unless you're drowning

I would look into sodium as well like slowbro said. Many people believe salt is our enemy but it's needed when it comes to training. Sea salt is what I prefer along with some jasmine rice and a lean meet, Chicken or turkey. Are you giving yourself enough time to digest your food before workouts? Of not that would be another huge problem getting a pump because all the blood in your stomach is trying to digest instead of going into the muscles

Sounds like maybe your glycogen depleted. Take in more carbs.

Yes, that's what I though about when saw the thread.
More carbs, more water.

I know when I don't take in enough carbs leading up to my lifting...I am as flat as paper. Also if you aren't giving your body proper recovery time the pump will be non existant. Maybe not enough time in between hitting various muscles.
I'd start at diet and work from there though...

what he said ^^^^ diet is the first thing to look at ... second thing is training/rest ... third thing since I know nothing about you is what kind of mind body connection do you have? I know that if I am out of the gym for any length period of time it does take time to get the pump back ... what kind of training are you doing and how frequently.... what kind of base do you have?

Bulkdaddy's picture

Yes I haven't been getting pumps like I usually do because of rest! Everything you said is accurate like always!

what is your diet look like? your cutting? or bulking? how many carbs are you having?

how is your sodium intake? if you dont take in adequate sodium that can stop you from getting a good pump. a good meal with plenty of carbs and sodium preworkout will help. sea salt is what you want to use, and liberally. fast acting carbs will help produce a bigger pump as well, white rice or potatoes will help more than brown rice or oatmeal. also an intraworkout drink with some carbs can help a small amount as well.

when i diet precontest there eventually comes a point where you dont get much of a pump anymore just because the nutrition is lacking. but that is usually a pretty extreme precontest diet. estrogen being too low can affect this as well.

alot of factors go into this, give us a better idea of your diet, training, if your are on cycle and what your running etc.

That doesn't bare thinking about, I get a quad pump walking the dog lol.

Must be some sort of issue, I'm thinking along the lines of diet but thats as far as I can guess here, wouldn't want to send you down the wrong road.

I'm sure some of the vets would have a better insight. Needs fixing, we all deserve a good pump lol.
