Terrible appetite!
So I just finished lunch. I've eaten 3x already today and drank 2 muscle milks. I'm 2500 calories in with another 2500 to go! Everything has to be forced down. I don't enjoy food at all. Nothing! I don't crave anything (other than water). I have no appetite and no desire to eat. I'm on a 5,000-6,000 cal/day diet! I don't put restrictions on myself. I eat whatever I can. I get at least 200 grams of protein and plenty of complex carbs but other than that I'll eat anything. Jut to get the extra calories I have to drink mass gainers which are all dirty sloppy calories. Anybody else go through this? Is it just the heat or is it me? I'm two months off cycle. I feel fine. I went through 2 surgeries recently but gaining my strength back. I'm maintaining my size but not really gaining. So in order to maintain I have to take in at least 5,000. This seems like an impossible task to keep up! Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Help a brotha out! I'm really struggling here.

I make shakes with the following ingredients .it almost fills the blender and is about 1800-2000 calories. I make it into 3 16.9 oz water bottles to drink throughout the day. It is like a weight gainer but with better calories not just sugar. I got most of the idea off of here somewhere.
Handful of spinach leaves
1 cup quick oats
1 container of greek yogurt (plain has most protein)
1/2 cup pastureized egg whites.(comes in a quart milk container)
big blob of natural peanut butter
big blob of almond butter
1 banana
handful of blueberries
3 scoops of vanilla whey
1 scoop vanilla casein protein
skim or 1/2% milk
whatever else you think would be good
use a blender and enough milk to make it drinkable. I pour more milk as I go to get it how I like it.I can drink these even when im not hungry. It is easier to drink then to eat when im full.
Hope this helps!
What I did was find foods that I enjoy and count the exact amount I need and eat them on a schedule.
for example:
Breakfast: 6 eggs overeasy, 4 slice toast, cereal, apple, banana, canteloupe
2hr later: 10 oz chicken breast boneless skinless, sweet potatoe or mashed w/flax seed meal
2hr later: 12 oz turkey meat and few slices of cheese, tomato & cucumber
2hr later: can of tuna, broccoli
post w/o : protein shake, 30 almonds, 8 oz chicken breast
2hr later: 12 oz steak, corn, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes, green beans
then usually a snack at night which varies depending on mood.
but you get an idea. I use the exact same stuff daily, sometimes switch it up but I know exactly what I am supposed to eat each day and prepare it so all I have to do is warm it up and eat it.
Honestly Nitti...I don't know how you even count calories. That alone would drive me insane...I stick to counting macros, much easier. How did/do you figure the 5000cal mark is the cutoff...or well, "maintenance" line? It just sounds so awkward to me. I figured with just knowing your bodyweight and from there you know how many carbs, protein, and fat to take in. For example, a 200lb. male would theoretically need 200-400g carbs, 400-500g protein, and 100g fat.
For awhile I was taking in close to 400g carbs, 400+g protein, and fat...well, didn't really care cause my diet was super-strict with ONLY complex carbs and healthy, lean meats. Now I am weighing around 220...I have been cutting the carbs down all summer though, about 100g/day...protein I try and hit 440g and once again, I just think the fat is a ride-along kind of thing. I've been losing bodyfat like crazy. It seems you don't have that problem though...no matter what, the weight just wants to fall off it seems? Damn, metabolism is a unique feature to each one of us though, and it's obvious that yours is a lil' slut. I know we are close in age and it's funny how different it is for both of us.
I know it's hard to choke down food sometimes. I eat even if I'm not hungry. Occasionally I feel as though I am going to throw up eating chicken and tuna and plain 2% greek yogurt by the bucketfulls...I do gag sometimes, but somehow I just power thru it.
I might be a lil' crazy in the head, I guess...I just scream at myself in my own mind. I'm like "C'mon you pussy!!! You're a lil bitch if you can't do this! You know what'll happen if you don't get your protein!!!" HAHAHA...shit like that, and just...power thru it. It's off the subject, but I don't even need music when I work-out...cause I do the same thing, especially on squat day...I'm like "Alrite!!! Let's go and don't be a bitch...lil' PUSS!!!" Play with your psychology a lil' bit...it has worked for me, and still does. Just some other theories for ya!! Everyone is gonna think I really am nuts now...lol.
I do appreciate your feedback bro. Don't get it twisted. My problem is I have no desire to eat
Yeah...now that I think about it, I had surgeries and shit in the past and recovery ALWAYS played havoc on my appetite.
Anonive always just did 50g over my bodyweight in protein, too much is a hell of a strain on the kidneys bro
yeah 400g protein is really putting too much stress on your liver and kidneys. Unless you are a really heavy set person that requires that much. For the average 200-250lb er 400 is a little high
Ya know...maybe you guys have something here...it's not like I have a chance at competing some-day...maybe I should cut it down a lil'. I used to do about 300-320 since on average I am 220 lbs. AND I am NOT full of bodyfat either....it's about 10% give or take a %.
I believe 300 is plenty. When I was eating 350 a day I blew up. I like to stay around 290-310 per day and I see good growth with that. I'm around 210 so it's plenty for my size.
As long as you are getting good carbs and your fats; seafood, nuts/almonds, broccoli, beans
with 300G protein, &1-2Gallons water perday then you should see good gains.
You pretty much nailed my whole diet down right there, except the protein part...but ya know, I'm off cycle right now and I was taking in this amount while I was on...I have been trying to taper it off without getting that hungry feeling all the time now that I am off. I can eat like a horse when I really push myself too and then you get used to that...and then I taper things off, it times it gets a lil' difficult...ya know, cutting some carbs out mostly.
I flush my system CONSTANTLY....I drink at least a gallon of water/day sometimes more.
Not to mention the body can't process more than
40G of protein per meal. Anything more gets wasted
Yeah, but not all protein digests at the same speed...right?
You're correct but the fact remains, there is only so much your body can process. I imagine the bigger you are, the higher this number. Maybe? But have you ever noticed how wen you eat a ton of protein in one serving, you get this horrible smelling gas?? That's your body unable to break it down the excess. Nasty shit!
Not so much with the gas...here and there, but it's not everyday...it's hit and miss, lol. It just seems to depend on what the protein source was. That's why I drink a shitton of water everyday.
Anonfuckin right ,, exactly bro, we need to keep those babies filtering,,, dont go over 250g imo... but im not a doctor or a pro but i have been doin this a long time and i got like 2 or 3 muscles,, for realz
You got 2 or 3 muscles? Lol. Word? I got a lot more than that I think. Lol
Anonoh yea i do too, i was tryin to be funny
I used to train much much harder than I do now. Not that I don't train hard, but BBing and Boxing are at totally different sides of the spectrum. The strength and conditioning coach that I worked with wor a number of years came up with those figures. He explained it to me then, i'll do my best. I was a middle weight at the time. In boxing, that is 160lbs. So I walked around at about 165-168. He ran all his little tests and came up with 5500 calories for me to move up to light heavyweight. I was using tren/prop during some of that time so I hit 175 much much faster than he said I would. He projected it would take me about 6 months to put on 15lbs of muscle naturally. Being an ectomorph, small framed, short, it all makes sense. Anyway, i'm getting side tracked. Basiclly I am still following the same plan he laid out. I have much different goals now, but by taking in 5000 cal over the last 6 years, all I have managed to do was maintain my weight. I almost NEVER gain weight off cycle. WHen i'm on, this kind of intake works wonders. When i'm off, I maintain my weight. Now I have a different set of problems. I was in and out of the hospital a ton over the last couple months. I am sttill recovering. I won't get into all that so please don't ask but going through those procedures did a number on me. I don't know if it's a combination of things or one thing in particular but I have no desire to eat. I literally force feed. To the point where I gag. Yeah, it's like that. How do I count the calorories? There's an app for that, lol. LiveStrong APP has a database of just about every food sold in america and its nutritional breakdown. Thats how I do it.
Interesting...apologize to you if it took some time to write down the history there!! BBing and boxing IS WAY DIFFERENT, I guess you have tried different approaches before and they just don't hold water compared to your old coaches? An app for that...HA!!! Funny.
Cut that shit out bro. It's fine. But I started saying all that and totally left out my point. If I was training twice as long at twice the intensity when boxing, I assumed that the same calorie intake would before than sufficient for BBing. Apparently it's not. Bottom line, I just don't gain off cycle. And I really won't gain if I can't eat.
Like I said before we are all different. If it worked then, it should work now. By this time you are used to running your diet that way. I know that YOU know what goes into boxing, different kind of exercise...more endurance and you are using a different energy pathway in your body burning different macros. I think you would burn more calories boxing than BBing, so what you got going should be just fine. Gotta find what works for you. That's what I did...I figured out how my body gained weight and then dialed it in from there depending on my goals. The bottom line is that you are looking for a way to get your appetite back and here we are getting off topic!!!....LOL!!!

UFOYep im right there with you bro. I just make sure I crush 1-2 serious mass shakes which is an extra 2000 cals. Luckily my EQ is startin to kick in this week so im huingry as shit all the time lately...
I'm not going to lie. I'm so damn sick of eating chicken right now. I have to plug my nose to gag that shit down. Yet I do it...Middle of the night I'm gagging chicken breasts down. Seriously makes me want to kill puppies.
I love fish, but that shit gets too damn expensive.
Cheap ass Chicken every day all day. Doesn't matter how I cook it or who cooks it, it still tastes like shit to me.
Well gotta go eat some more fricken chicken.
No shit, I hunt and I seriously eat probably one deer per week until its gone.
Probably going to start poaching.
You're responding to yourself now? Lol. Should I leave the 2 of you alone? I feel the same way about chicken! I'm sick of it! But it has to be done
I make love to myself, why cant I respond to myself?
Nobody makes me cum like I do!
lol.
Whenever I start getting sick of something like chicken I just cut it completely for about a week and just go with whatever else I can for a while. It's a pain in the ass and will cost more, but I need to maintain my sanity!
After years of not being able to gain weight, all of a sudden I just could. In 18 months I went from weighing 185 to 240 when I was 26. Granted I took a few years off from ANY kind of exercise too though, however not all the weight was bad weight. I still kept a decent amount of muscle, I was still fat though, lol. BF had to be around 25% at least, yikes!!!...never again!! Now I am around 223-225 and my bodyfat is hovering around 10%....I have to work at it a lil' bit to keep what I have, but I am used to eating like a horse anyway. I'll shove food down the gullet even if I'm not that hungry just because the schedule I set up for myself for years now basically requires me to eat anyway. Nowadays, I start getting anxiety (or something like it) when I see pounds drop off the scale after all he hardwork I've put in along with all the money I have spent on food, gym and accessories, and gear.
smoke weed you will eat
Thank you for that! Great info
tread-mLol...I was writing while you posted this!...above
tread-mIf you don't want hgh bud hit that ghrp-6. Either one will increase your stomach ghrelin which is what makes you hungry to begin with. Could even hit just a couple hundred mcg's on the ghrp 6 split ed and likely help quite a bit through the heat here. I have it off and on just hot as hell but use the hgh so mine stays pretty high in appetite.
After our long sessions of pillow talk I think it's about time to make a call to Lilly! I want to take it to the next level anyway. GH is on my radar as you know. I wasn't aware it would help with appetite as well. Makes sense. Is there anything GH can't do? Lol. Does it give hummers too because it sounds like the perfect compound!
TxBigBoyI'm not sure if it GIVES hummers but you might be able to GET acouple from guys on here for a kit of Lilly
tread-mSorry brother, it does! BOOM!
Ghrp? Please elaborate. I'm interested.
NicoTheFrenchive read a couple of bodybuilders blending chicken and meat into shakes it just leaves the shaker greasy, this could help alittle or not or eating mcdonalds to cover calories
Wow that sounds terrible! Lol. I have a head enough time keeping calories down. I think that might make me lose my lunch. Lol. I appreciate the input tho. I do the heavy calorie shakes with peanut butter, banana, ground oats etc. it's tough!
I get like that alot thesedays bro... younger i could eat like a f-ing shire horse! i put it down to age my appetite fluctuates but i dont let it get me down.. as long as what the mirror tells me triggers a smile everythings good... strength stays up with low carbs so that dont bother me either... dont let the mind take you over bro... dont panic about having a off day its normal... tomorrow you wont be able to stay full i bet lmao!
I wish it were just today brother. It's everyday! It has been 100 degrees every day which doesn't help. Being sick didn't help. I wish I would snap out of it already
I hear GOTH and GRRRL talking about a vitamix and blending/juicing food into shakes. That might help. I am a fat kid trapped in an athletic body so I have no problem with eating. LOL Going through those surgeries has probably kept you from being as active as you would like making it harder to get hungry more often. I wish I was of more help brother.
Yes the surgeries definitely put me out of commission. I didn't train for a good month. I ate like shit. It's been tough but in bac on track with my health and in the gym I'm making progress. I almost want to run EQ just to have a friggen appetite. Lol
Just curious Nitti what is your BF since off cycle? Are you staying lean? I couldn't eat that much off cycle! I would get fat real quick and or have to run 5 miles a day! Not to mention I couldn't afford it with two sons full time!
I'm still less than 10%. I am always lean. I have dropped weight but managed to keep some gains from my last cycle. I am a hard gainer. I don't ever carry any fat. Some say it's a genetic gift. I say it's a curse. I am a very hard gainer
LOL I used to say the same thing till I turned the corner on 35 and now it aint so easy to drop the fat unless I up cardio significantly!
35????...shit, my metabolism took a HUGE turn when I was 25!! I was just like Nitti here intil my mid-twenties, NOW in a couple months I will be 33 and gaining weight is not a problem. I can keep the fat off too with just a decent diet and hardly any cardio.
As for you Nitti, well, it sux when the appetite is all bunked out. I honestly believe that GH might be your best option too, since you are the "hard-gainer". Depending on your financial resources and all. I am taking the plunge soon, for other reasons...my joints is one of 'em.
