+ 2 Steroid Muscle memory

ad

Let's talk about steroid muscle memory.

Let's say you gained X amount of muscle with X amount of gear, then stop using gear and lose half of the muscle. If you'd cruise you'd maintain all of the muscle gained.

Will you need to use the same X amount of gear to get the same X amount of muscle back?

Or could you achieve that with lets say half of the X amount of gear you used because of muscle memory.

The reason I'm asking this is because I want to get my old physique back. I've been slacking since corona 2020 and due to work. But I'm getting a bit older so I don't to use the amounts of gear I used back then. I want to keep it at test only.

For numbers:
My biggest cycle was 600mg test, 200mg EQ, 100mg DHB, 25mg Var ed.

Would 250mg test be enough to get back to that physique (with muscle memory)?

Sorry my phone is on the fritz but hopefully you get the point. If you start with a higher number of muscle cells your muscles will obviously become larger, faster when you return to training. Causing hyperplasia with igf1/gh is the only possible way I couod see a chemical compound causing better muscle memory.

We are all born with a certain number of muscle cells. When your train along with proper nutrition and even more so with roids each muscle cell enlarges(hypertrophy). When you stop training each muscle cell shrinks(atrophy).

The only chemical enhancement that causes better muscle memory would possible GH or IGF. These two things can lead to hyperplasia(increase in the number of muscle cells). When tou stop trainin, eating and get off juice each muscle cell shrinks. Howvee

My opinion on it is this: no matter what in the first three months or so back at training you will gain the same amount of muscle, wether your on gear or not. So I wouldn’t waste the gear, I’d train and eat and get back to where ever you plateau and THEN start a cycle. But that’s just my thoughts on it, idk if that’s actually how it works but seems to be for me

Don't equate the amount of gear you use to the amount of muscle you gain, nor the amount of gear you need to use to maintain that muscle. That is more on your diet and training for maintaining muscle you have built. Muscle memory is a real thing, and it is not dependent on how much gear you are using but it is dependent on training and proper nutrition. So get your ducks in a row with nutrition and training to get back in the shape the quickest. Here are the cliff notes on muscle memory.

All that lifting that you previously did didn't only cause hypertrophy of your muscles, but it actually changed the entire physiology of the muscle down to its core. You basically created new neural pathways in your CNS with all that training. Basically, this the mind muscle connection we talk about. Those muscle fibers have improved neuromuscular efficiency built right into them now which lasts forever. Now when you come back from a layoff of training these neural pathways are basically reactivated and you can build back that muscle much quicker than when you first did because you don't have create those neural pathways again, they are already there which saves a ton of time when trying build your muscle back up from before. Once again, this process isn't dependent on the amount of gear you use, it is dependent on getting back to training since that is what reactivates the pathways, not the gear.

There really is no reason to hop on a cycle right away after a layoff. The muscles will hypertrophy just from the increased training alone and should get you back to pretty close to where you were when you initially took the layoff. I would give it at least a couple of months before cycling. A couple of months to get it back after a couple of year layoff is not a bad proposition. Kind of a waste of a cycle when you can basically achieve the same results just from starting back training again.

Thank you for the insight! It's not like I stopped training completely. I was just half-assing it with my diet and routine. Now I want to put all the 'dots' on the 'i' and really get back to my old form lol. But with less gear and muscle memory (hopefully). I'm not looking to gain more muscle beyond that point. I'd rather maintain after that point (is what I say now lmao).

I ran big cycles 2-3 gram and cruised on 500mg test when off cycle. I was big strong and body fat was mid to high teens. I trained like that for around 12 years went through a bad patch in life with women and clubs ect stopped training for around 2 years. Started having breathing issues went docs blood pressure very high and RBC through the roof. Started taking ramipril for blood pressure and doc told me to start going gym for health …. I caught the gym bug again and before long I was lifting started running HRT doses around 175mg test a week felt good but not like I was so upped it gradually now now im running just testosterone and run 750mg a week for around 4-5 months then have a couple months on 250mg a week and back up to 750mg. I’ve been doing that around 3 years now and I’m bigger than I was and stronger body fats more in the 20s now though and I guess I have what women call a dad bod but we know as a bulk. I still take ramipril every day and donate blood every 12 weeks I feel great for 44 and still have people staring when I train.. muscle memory is definitely really I came back to where I was after years of training in months and as for the gear I find just using test at 750mg I feel healthier and I’m comfortable I’m as big if not bigger and stronger than I was on grams but not as hard or vascular .

Thats probably what I will be doing in the future. 500mg blast, 250mg or lower cruise.

For now I just want to get back into the groove rebuild some muscle with muscle memory and take it from there in a few months.

I'd definitely be sure to stay focused on diet, workout intensity and rest. In my opinion just using 250mg test is basically upper limit trt levels and you could probably see modest gains.

I think my fat thumb negged you for no reason. Thumbs back up lol. There should be a prompt with, are you sure you want to neg this post my guy, are you sure you want the smoke lmao?

My experience here, is that the gear isn’t the real catalyst for growth, diet and training appropriately are. It helps push plateaus and such, but once you’ve reach a particular point in skeletal muscle mass, regaining it is easier than achieving it the 1st time. I would imagine with a good diet and a training regimen tailored to your strengths, you could achieve what you’re after. Lastly, even when cruising after a cycle, you’ll loose a bit of size, even if it’s just glycogen and such.

Now not sure if anyone knows the true answer to this question. So I do believe in muscle memory. It is absolutely real.
I could be wrong but I think we will always have muscle memory, however as we get older it may not be as easy to activate as it was when we were younger. I can't tell you the answer, but at the end of the day it's how your body reacts. Personally I rely on some muscle memory because I come off gear without cruising. But like I said our bodies react differently at certain things. I like your conservative gear approach too.

DavosD's picture

Thank you brother, always been conservative. No deca no tren, no more EQ. Just sticking to test and a bit of mast prop (50mg eod max, pray for my hairline) and anavar if I want to get wild lol.

Yep get the most from the least amount. Good luck man.

Do you just mean 250mg Test by itself with nothing else added? This is also assuming that you do everything the same way as you did in the past - same diet/eating habits, training program, amount of sleep, enthusiasm and drive then I will say no you won't. The level of protein synthesis on your old cycle was much higher than you can possibly achieve than on just that new level of testosterone. Unless you were maybe to eat 3 times as much protein and sleep better, train better etc. Also remember back then your body was younger so it recovered slightly better and quicker meaning frequency of training may of been a bit higher.

DavosD's picture

I'm on sick leave with a burn-out from work. All I will be doing is eat train sleep repeat like I'm going to be fighting my nemesis in 2024 lol. Same drive and diet, better training, older body, 250mg test only.

Honestly if I can get to 90% of where I was I'd be satisfied.

You do right buddy, I don't run half the stuff I use to anymore. As a result I'm not as strong these days but I would rather feel well, happy and know I am not obliterating my body internally everyday. Its very easy when you never get bloodwork done to be naïve about the way it all affects you and pretend it isn't happening, then once you start watching those health parameters deteriorating reality sinks in and you think a lot more about what you are doing. Still being healthy enough to train is the most important thing in life, above any amount of compounds you can be injecting into yourself Smile

Amen brother. Thank you for the wise words!
