I think about all the progress I made, all the times I've said "watch I'm going to make it", this is what I do, because you can't do it..attitude and it motivates me..I have something to prove.. I'm not worthless... even with my current injury I fight the pain bro. Motivation comes from within the heart... say it, believe it and achieve it. NEVER LISTEN TO THE NAY SAYERS. They want to tell you, you can't do something, because they can't, brush that negatively off and focus on your goals, your dreams and kill it bro.

Cheers and thanks for your positive thoughts mate. Guys like you pull downers out of the sink hole there in. Your worh more money bro lol ..One of of the guys said forward through the fog. Thanks again man appreciate your wisdom as will others .
I watch motivational videos and tend to re group. Honestly, I love working out I get a "high" from it. I never have to push myself to go to the gym I'm just ready to go, because it's a part of my being! Unfortunately I'm never completely happy with my body (although I'm actually swole a.f.) and I continue to push because I like perfection! Girls are usually my motivation. I love the looks they give and the envy in their man's eyes as I walk by. The gym is like brushing your teeth, your life stinks without it!! Get back in there, take a pre workout and kill that bitch!! No guts no glory!
Yeah mate i hear ya, love the way chicks have a good look at ya when your out its a awesome feeling. It also makes my misses take real good care of me so id never stray. I watch the freaks of nature train and that does push me hard. One of my main problems tho was pre workouts i was having them (CEC Stack) all time i became dependent on them. once i realized what i was doing i stopped and it took me a while to get back to normal. Im all good man its go hard or go home. cheers
BOOM ! And that's why one day we will meet and train together ! Just like I met up with drodxxxl ! We think alike !
? is, what are you doing it for???
I Look in the mirror everyday! I am never satisfied ! So IMO never being satisfied is the drive that should keep the fire burning to train! BTW if you've only been training for 3.5 years and you don't feel like training then you may want to reassess your hobby!
Yeah nar i certainly wont be reassessing my hobbies that would mean no more fishing, shooting, horse riding, motor X and a heap more . Unlike u i look in the mirror and i am happy with what i have achived in the past 3.5 years ive reached the goal i was aiming for. now i have a fresh new mind set to keep that fire burning. Thanks for your thoughts tho
Agreed Indeed....
Take some time off bro. Not doing it for a week or so will make you miss it. Plus, it will probably be good for you.
It only took me two days away from the weights and i was already missing it lol. i think id go crazy to have a whole week off, bit like a junkie not being able to get a fix . those two days off i did 20min hit cardio each day. .
Im with phil i just love to workout. I feel like you do sometimes to and you know what works best? Taking a week off. You can sleep and eat all you want and layout your workout schedule perfectly so you muscle groups dont overlap so you aren't hitting the same muscles to often before they recover so you dont overtrain in that regard, but the only time your central nervous system rests is when you take a day off. You use the same CNS to hit chest, then back, then legs etc. So It never gets a rest like your muscles do. Whenever i start feeling like that and i realize i been going nonstop for 12 weeks or more i know its time to take a rest week. Then i the whole week I'm out of the gym its all i can think about and when i come back I'm motivated again and feel awesome. Thats what works for me atleast.
I realized early in the peice that I couldn't hit legs as hard the day after chest I felt so drained and weeker than normal realizing my central nervous system had taken a bashing, so now I'll hit say arms the day after and 20min of HIT cardio on my off days. Im now starting to think ive been over training. Totally a different story while im on the gear tho
phil113kgI've been weight training since the age of 15 and now I'm almost 43. What's the secret of keeping on with the get on is the fact that I love to work out. Yes I'm like everyone and will sometimes find excuses to not go to the gym BUT those times are rare. When i turned the age of 40 I told myself that I needed to compete again just to keep the fire burning and that is what i did. I began to research the competitions here in this country and took the plunge. Now I have to set goals and achieve them which by doing so keeps me motivated. Last year I took the easier approach and skated by but now I found that it will not help me if I was to stay in that state. So I challenged myself to turn it up even further and go for comps bigger than I would have imagine. Doing so keeps me charging forward and looking forward to greater improvements. I'm goal orientated, like you, and I need to have structure to guide me. Choosing the contest gives me an objective to strive for. Also doing the EBC on this site helps me stay ahead of the game. You might never step on stage but my whole point is that you need to lock your thoughts on something bigger than you can attain and do your best to reach it. Don't just say, "I will put on 10 lbs. in two months", but do something that takes you out of your comfort zone. Lazy feeling days will come but if your mind is set then there is nothing that can steer you away. Hope this helps you and others.
BOOOOOM!!!............. see! thats what it is all about ^^^^^^^^^ that post just motivated me no end :)) +3
NO FEAR attitude............. i love it!!
phil113kgThanks Viking. I know you know the value of perseverance.
Yes totally agree with you . I think guys like Phil are true soldiers to the game and there's no stopping them. It would be awesome to train with guys just like that...
Thanks for your solid advice mate
im sure anyone who read all these comments will benefit greatly just as i have.
To everyone very much appreciate all your thoughts. I can honestly say yous have all put me in a positive place exactly where I should be. Now that im back on track things are only going to get better. Thank you guys.
You better stay ahead of the game bro....you snooze, you lose....whats gonna happen is you are gonna slack off and then when the time comes to be your best and be all u can be you arent gonna be able to do what you need to do....stay focused.....ONWARD THROUGH THE FOG.....
You have to define what you're training for at all times. Bigger, stronger, faster, leaner, athletic performance, physique development and lagging body parts, etc. Going to the gym should never be a job or just to maintain. I'm always trying to tweak something to keep my interest and I'm never satisfied which has kept me coming back for 13 years now. Every body goes through slumps now and then but always have a plan to keep it fresh and enjoyable. Training has given me an outlet in life that I can't have satisfied by anything else.
Mate I take my hat off to blokes like your self continuing to hit the gym 13+years, just saying that is enough to motivate me. Ill be 47 by the time I can say ive been lifting for that long and be able to pass on the knowledge ive learnt along the way. Thanks for your thoughts :-)
Fuck; I go to the gym even when I have a massive cold; like I do right now. I find that it motivates me more to go when I'm not motivated. Now going to work every day; that's something I need motivation to do.
Vanity keeps me going. I don't ever want to look old, or feel old for that matter.
Hitman187theres been alot of days i havent felt like training but have anyway. thats what separates the men from the mice, its so easy to just say fuck it if you don't feel like doing sumthing. consistency is a big part of this sport. sumone with a case of the fuck its aint gonna make it far.... theres many ways of keeping your motivation strong by switching up workout routines, through long and short term goals, even a change of scenary can help, and theres many more ways. only you know you you gotta figure out what works for you and use it to keep your eye on the prize
Thanks to all you guys for your comments . A light has turned on and you have me thinking again. :-)
Change your program or style of training.
Don't train every day or it can become a "job."
Add in activities that you enjoy, basketball, baseball, soccer, "tough mudders"
Enter a BB show, nothing like being in front of people with little clothing on to motivate you!
I am quickly approaching my sixth year in the gym. It is a full blown addiction now. But even with that there are days when you just aren't feeling it. Try changing your routine around, maybe take a week off. At my age quitting in my mind would be akin to death. I want to live a long life, unlike my father and grandfather before me, fitness is the way..
NO WAY!!.............. short term goals can be met yes i agree but!.. the long term goal IS ALWAYS on the horizon bro............ when the fateful day arrives when i personally am goal-less will be the day i die.
I'm sure you know this Viking, but I just want to add it for those who don't bro.. Short term goals help keep the long term goals in focus. If you stay stuck on long term goals then it can become overwhelming because the progress takes years, but if you set short term goals like.. bench this much or that much it gets you closer to that long term goal without losing focus and becoming overwhelmed. I always wanted to deadlift 800 lbs for two reps.. right now I'm at 500lbs for two reps.. next I will focus on 600 lbs and so forth because it may seem 800 is unrealistic and you'll give up... We must walk before we can run.
phil113kgVery well said!!!!
AnonFind a new goal. If you're always hungry, you're never complacent.
