Sauna

Sauna before or after working out, what’s everyone’s opinion

Gym and Bikes_bro's picture

2x - 4x a week after a workout. It makes me feel good. I prefer mild saunas over these extremely hot though, feels better for muscle and I believe ratio of lost fat over just water is slightly better as well. I just bought a half-season ticket. I believe sauna during winter time makes me less prone to colds and other seasonal diseases...

After, it will continue a caloric "afterburn" from working out.

Agree. I always go after working out. 30-60min is what I like

To many dudes in there. They need a sauna with chicks

Back in the old Golds Gym days in California they did have a mixed gender sauna. It was basically just another place to have sex. True story.

20 min me 4-5 times a week usually twice a day post workout. I drink electrolytes after. Usually no one is in there early am so it is a nice way to start the day for me.

So whats the other benefits beside sweating out toxins?

Wambamthanks's picture

For me I use it as recovery and for a little extra post workout calorie burn. It also is studied for greatly increasing growth hormone levels and longevity.

Except for these 2 men. Dont think their growth hormones are increasing lol

Are people actually still even doing that? I thought covid halted that. Curious to hear how many humans are actually using saunas still. I personally dont see enough reward to sacrifice my time.

Me either. There to lazy to sweat doing cardio

Not sure if it's beneficial, I do it because it feels good. Like a way to hot shower, but you can lay down?!
