+ 1 Quality over Quantity

ad

I want to give credit to GRRL's post previously to this thread. It all does start in the kitchen...AKA what you swallow down your Gord! BUT! Spend a few seconds looking at the label. Not the brand or how much it costs but the Nutrition facts. How much Sodium, How much Sugar, How much Fat, How much Cholesterol, and the ingredients can go on & on! So look at how many grams of protein in powder verse the grams in how many scoops it takes to get that protein value/count. Look at the actual ingredients in the protein like is it just whey/, Casein, Soy (Bad for guys), Beef etc.. Now onto the grocery store is it organic, is it farm raised, is it GMO (FUCK THAT). Read your products before they get into the Kitchen and GOD forbid into your mouth and into that machine your trying to build! I can tell you I will NOT buy certain ground Turkey meat or Hamburger based on Fat, Brand, Color, even price! Some stores now try and jack up the good stuff but you have to look for the stores that offer the deals or sell in bulk. Sam's Club, BJ's, Costco's, Even online sites offer great deals on egg whites and supplements. READ, STUDY, EXPLORE, and lastly don't just settle for what is local. Try and Google a Meat market or Seafood Market and check out what they can offer you on a regular basis. Another words you might just be in a good position to talk to the owner or manager and say hey I am going to be coming in here 2-3 times a week and picking up some chicken, steak, fish, shrimp, turkey, pork etc.....He might just hook you up with a once a week or once a month deal! But remember it's going to be "Quality over Quantity"! I can go to the dollar store and buy some tuna fish and cans of sardines and it has protein but do I want to eat 900mg of sodium a can or eat the left overs from the discards that main brands did not use or take? Naaaaah. Be picky, and do not settle for store brand bullshit. I have complained to my local butcher so many times and got what I wanted so many times I can't even count! So in short read your labels and buy smart. Like GRRL already emphasized it does happen in the kitchen but what's really cooking is...Get to know your food not just macro counting but really know your food, brand, nutritional value, and PRICE! I will leave you with this...Super bowl sucked...Glad Peyton Lost and my Patriots Should have Won! But I do love that Sherman he is a shit talking beast....That's how it should be no pussies allowed in the NFL...I'm out!

If you need to get your protein macros, then just eat some ground up chicken feathers and feet. After all, they have a high protein value. Its the same thing as not getting crap dog food for your dog, just because it has a good protein level doesn't make it digestible or even nutritious for them.

Well if this site doesn't fit your macros, feel free to show yourself the door. Every post you've made so far indicates you are a know it all child that shouldn't be here anyways.

Post-workout shake is not a myth! If you are not getting fast digesting protein and carbs into your system (whether a it is a shake or whole foods) immediately after your workout you will be stunting your gains. That 1 hour window after your workout is one of the most anabolic windows your body will have for the day. So take advantage of it. Spike that insulin with the carbs and get that protein shuttled into your muscles to grow and repair them. I would like to see your studies stating that post-workout nutrition is a myth. I'm calling bullshit on that one.

All carbs do not have the same effect on your weight. Eating high glycemic carbs at the wrong time can lead to unwanted fat gain due to the insulin spike that they can cause and the resulting conversion of the excess glycogen in your system into fat.

I accidentally negged you, I just fixed it. no mate I do have protein shakes occasionally, but not often, im a bulker mate I eat meat, when I finish working out it generally either steak and potatoes with vegies, or chicken with rice or pasta and mince meat, then an hour later ill have another meal of meat and vegetables with either potatoes, rice or pasta with vegies, I train at 6.15 at night time, I have two big dinners at night with in 1.5 hours after a heavy workout, I have my diet on point mate, and I did before juicing, I was 97kgs age 21 all natural buddy, and that was from having all my food on point, as or my cycles these days, you wouldn't even look at them, and as for my food, im taking in 6000- 7000 calories a day of solid food.

Okay so this post is very broad. Mind giving some specific examples about your quality vs quantity topic? How much sodium is in the tuna you buy if you're not settling for 900mg with the other. Which hamburgers won't you buy based on fat?

Please elaborate.

Okay let's just talk about tuna in the can. I go for the 12oz can which is 5 servings (really 1-2 for me) depending on my intake. So 13 grams of protein x 5 servings = 65 grams. 180mg sodium per serving which can get up there but I put my tuna in a very fine pasta strainer and wash it with water a few times and really drain out the salt/juice. Now lets look at generic store brand. Publix, Winn Dixie, Stop and Shop etc all have more sodium and less protein my minimum 5 grams, bumblebee is not bad but the tuna is more of a shitty mush than fillets in the can. So what's the difference again QUALITY over quantity. Go to Costco and get a big can of tuna or chicken meat in the can and compare to an albacore or even chicken of the sea. How about Turkey meat go look at the (2) different Jennie-O options n your local supermarket and tell me if one does not look like ground pork mixed with fat and the other is almost crystal pink/clear. Again flip it over and see what your eating. Let's move onto to protein...maybe not you but I know guys/girls who will go for the expensive shit (Isopure, BSN Syntha 6, Visalus Body by Vi) and think Wow..I got the good shit! Yes you got Shit alright the expensive shit. How many servings in the jug or box? What is the gram or protein ratio to the gram per serving, how many carbs , how much sugar? Any natural Chromium or Vanadyl sulfate for the glucose factor if any or in general/ What is the amino acid content....I could write for hours and may not be a pro but to elaborate my main goal was to give props to GRRL's original post and add a little extra flavor....Cuzz it's all starts in the kitchen!

Your food game is on point bro. I agree though, I try and stay away from procesed crap and refined carbs and just eat whole foods and vegetables

I know but sometimes it's hard to pass up 65-70 grams of protein for $1.99 or better yet a can of Mackeral take the bones out and again wash it under some water to some what reduce the sodium or packaged salt. Quick snack with some sodium free crackers or some brown rice. Some people might see the inside of the can and be grossed out but once it cleaned and prepped it's not bad again for $2.99 which is basically 50-70 grams of protein depending on brand. Plus the Omega's.

I can't help you much with cheap recipes, being a crappy cook, but just wanted to give you major props for the way you prioritize your family. Taking care of family is a major part of what should define "manhood."

I will add this bud sometimes for a big family a BIG crockpot can go a long way. A big slab or top round/bottom round cooked all day mixed with some small potatoes, carrots, and green beans can be a feast after 5-6 hours in the crock pot with a nice low sodium base. Fill with Water and half beef or vegetable broth low sodium and let it set. you can cut the meat with a spoon. Same thing goes with a nice pork roast topped off with a nice few cups of jasmine rice in the rice cooker with a half a cup of coconut milk with some chopped scallions.

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it., lol, or in your cause you wouldn't..... haha, seriously though you're right on. Thankfully my wife handles all of this. I use to giver her shit for spending so much, but like you said quality over quantity. You get what you pay for.

You r exactly right. I read the label on everything. My family thinks I weird. Lol...same goes for protein powders. Most of them r loaded w sodium and cholesterol. It's crazy. I don't even know how they sell !
