+ 2 My Week 1 Post-Cycle Meltdown
Hey everyone, big topic today, one we mostly gloss over with all the hype: Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT) and what that 'crash' actually feels like.
I just wrapped up my first proper eight-week run of a moderate cycle. The whole time, I was laser-focused: bloodwork, timing, pinning everything right. I felt invincible. I was hitting PRs every other week. My girl couldn't keep her hands off me. Life was good.
Then the juice stopped.
Day four hits, and suddenly, I’m not just tired, I’m walking through cement. Seriously, I thought I had the flu. Getting off the couch felt like a one-rep max.
But the worst part? It wasn't the strength leaving though watching your lifts drop 15% overnight is a total gut punch. The worst was the head game.
I went from being this confident, aggressive guy who owned the gym to a moody, anxious mess. I’m not talking about being a little down. I’m talking about genuinely feeling like everything I gained was fake, temporary, and I was back to being the skinny kid who started. The paranoia kicked in hard. I started snapping at my buddies for no reason, and I just wanted to be left alone. I felt zero motivation. My libido? Gone. It was like someone had flipped the 'off' switch on my whole system.
I skipped two days, which never happens. I sat in my truck in the gym parking lot and just couldn't force myself in.
The Survival Playbook (What Worked for Me)
Stop Trying to PR: I had to check my ego and tell myself, 'Dude, you're in maintenance mode. This is about staying healthy.' I dropped the weights and focused on high-volume, lighter work to keep the blood flowing and maintain that mental connection.
Forced Activity: When the motivation was zero, I just put on my shoes and went for a twenty-minute walk, no headphones. Just to remind myself I wasn't glued to the couch.
No Exceptions on PCT Drugs: I set an alarm for my Nolva/Clomid dose. Didn't matter how tired or moody I was. That was non-negotiable. You can't cheat the recovery.
Talked to My Girl: I had to tell her, 'Hey, my hormones are all over the place right now. I'm not mad at you, I just feel like garbage.' That communication saved me a huge fight and helped her understand I wasn't just being a jerk.
It’s Week 3 now, and I’m starting to see the light. The mood is lifting, the energy is coming back, and I’m back in the gym consistently, hitting 85% of my cycle strength.
If you’re planning a cycle, have your PCT drugs ready, but more importantly, prep your mind for the dark week. It's coming. Be honest about it.
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone going into their first PCT?

musclehead2Man, that PCT crash sounds brutal, glad you’re pulling through. the mental drop and libido tanking really hits home, good call on easing into lighter lifts and sticking to Nolva/Clomid
ShahzoMan, this is one of the most real and valuable posts I’ve read in a while. Respect for being honest about what that “crash” actually feels like — most people only talk about the highs of a cycle, not the mental side that hits after.
