metformin

ad

so i recently started taking metformin for a legit reason, but i have noticed that the subcutaneous belly fat in my mid section that ive struggle with is just melting away. does anyone else have any experience with it? ive been reading about its use related to BB. (metformin is not insulin)

my weight has been holding steady Ive put on lean muscle and im getting more cut.

It tanks my appetite, which is nice when cutting. I like to take 500mg/d to help with my insulin sensitivity while dieting. Usually I'll take half a pill 2x/d. I can't take a whole pill at once because my meals are usually under 25/g of carbs (75g for the whole day) and taking a whole pill without any carbs really throws me for a loop.

I have the same issue, if I don't eat enough carbs .... ;-(

OHAs stimulate the beta cells in the Islet of Langerhans in the pancreas. What have your FSBG readings.been, since you have started the medication? What is your dose and frequency? What was your FSBG prior to starting it?

i take 500mg 2 times a day. im not sure what my fsbg was or is. I just recently found out i am a type 2 diabetic. I am on a blast right now. 400 test, 200 mast, 200 deca split 2 x week. and im taking 25 mg a day of Dbol once a day monday through friday. i tend to have stomach issues from orals so i only take them during the week and i dont take big doses.

you do know that the tests they use to determine blood sugar .. a1c and fasting blood sugar tests are compromised by high protein diets..... and in combination with high protein if you are doing low carb diets as well they are skewed even further ... do some research

yes, my blood sugar was very off for over a year. my last fasting blood sugar was 190. also family history, one parent and 3 out of 4 of my siblings are diabetic. I went through a good bit of hoops to make sure before i started the meds. my endo who also over sees my TRT was the doc who did all the follow up and testing, i even had to change my diet for about a month at one point.

kodiakGRRL's picture

sorry to hear that but good for you and your endo ..

That could likely be why I was borderline type 2 during my last test. Good to know.

well I was 'diagnosed' a few months ago and I told them that was complete bullshit, more because of the lecture I got about what I should stop eating and drinking as if I am eating all the wrong crap.. when I told them I dont eat that stuff the doc said 'talk to the dietician' now I am not above learning new things but when you call me on the phone, you look at my weight and my 'numbers' and tell me I need to exercise and stop eating stuff I don't already eat I tend to not agree with anything you might have to say. So, I started doing some research and found out that high protein diets alone and in conjunction with low carb diets will skew the tests to make it look like you are diabetic. I said thanks for the script, I won't be fasting for my blood tests any more ;-)

yeah I know at my height and weight I am considered grossly obeast ... my weight max in the military was 155lbs ..

Grrl I'd love to see this research if you have links/access to the papers

... I've been looking into some very valid review papers lately that high protein diets can and do lead to decreased insulin sensitivity.

Owes a Review × 1
