Has anyone torn their hamstring before?

I noticed a few days ago the back of my leg is severely bruised and I haven't fell or anything like that to have bruised. Feeling around though there seems to be a little knot on the inside of my leg about 3 inches from my knee. There isn't any pain or tightness at all though. Any idea if it's a partial tear or anything?
