+ 1 Do you really have to donate blood? Maybe not.
ad
So my hematocrit levels are usually around 50. Last bloods had them at 53 so I’m going to go donate today actually. I feel like absolute shit when I donate. I get nauseous, sweats and almost pass out so I don’t donate often.
I’ve recently been researching and seeing that high hematocrit levels isn’t “bad” and that it’s a misconception that’s you need to donate. According to several posts and videos I’ve seen polycythemia vera is the reason that you need to donate and not just high red blood cell count. polycythemia vera is a when all your blood cells are increasing and can cause thick blood. This Dr goes into detail about why you don’t need to have a phlebotomy just because you have high rbc.
Curious to see what others think about this.

People believe donating blood will counteract the steroid abuse most, if not all of us are guilty of, it’s the same with supplements.. it makes them feel better about themselves when they blast gear irresponsibility. Both supplements and blood donating isn’t going to help much when you abuse steroids, the best thing to do is eat a healthy balanced diet, plenty of cardio, take long breaks between cycles and drink plenty of water. Unfortunately that’s a lot harder to do that than donating blood and/or eating £60’s worth of supplements a month.
I think the problem lays when chaps preach blood donating and supplements to others while claiming perfect bloods and blasting gear irresponsibility when more lightly than not it’s not the full story.
You can drop your hematocrit levels over night by doubling your water intake from what ive seen in others and my own blood tests.
Dylan54000hello buddies, I also have to donate blood to lower my hematocrit because that worries me! I went up to 52.9% for a ceiling of 53%. after donation it goes down nicely and I do cardio, consume a lot of water and less coffee and tea (diuretic therefore not recommended). there is also the solution of the bleeds that some practice themselves! wouaaa I couldn't do that. the special kits are bought internally from my readings on a fr forum. I think you have to be experienced and assisted by a specialist, doctor or nurse at the start to learn well. courage friends
AnonYears back I got nose bleeds and headaches from a pro-hormone cycle. I didn't donate blood at the time but later thought I probably should have. I didn't know at the time. I also didn't know that I might be hurting anyone by donating while on cycle. I been donating on average once a year for the last few years.
Up until about 2017 trt folks that donated blood, it was thrown away and not used. Now they strip your blood because certain parts of it are no good. Imagine a woman gets your blood while you are on cycle and you never told the bank you were on a high amount of test. You're not hurting people as in death lol but that 10 year old kid might hit puberty a little early or screw up his hpta. I'm waiting myself on more details as my endo visit is coming up I have to ask him about it. I never figured out why he had me drop my dose 3 months ago after my blood work. I thought it was my levels.
Same thing happens to me. It's caused by this: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/vasovagal-syncope/symptom...(vay%2Dzoh%2D,blood%20pressure%20to%20drop%20suddenly.
Donating blood while on trt or cycle requires what's called a therapeutic phlebotomy and used to need approval from your endo or doctor. it is only needed if you are at risk for stroke or have clogged arteries/bad circulation. There are multiple reasons for this as well because testosterone replacement therapy is tainted blood. While everyone feels great for giving blood and think they are saving lives doing so actually does the opposite. I am seeing this in my trt forums where doctors now are not asking their patients to donate. they are making them lower their doses for a few weeks to stabilize the high rbc. in some cases they are having them donate blood. Here is one article from 2016 explaining that and some of the forum members being turned away from the blood banks because the blood is contaminated when using trt.
they eased the restrictions on trt people but you HAVE to tell the bloodbank you are on trt or cycling. They cant use all your blood on trt, they have to strip it so its part of the reason you had to pay before.

SO those on cycle donating, you feel good thinking you just helped someone with your blood donation, but in reality you are more than likely going to hurt them. Unless you are honest which we all know more than half are not.
Sound like power red donations are just fine. They can only use the RBC and not the plasma and platelets which are being returned back to you.
Absolutely. That's what they do
RustyhookerSo power red is the way to go and not just the normal blood drop. Good info!
My appointment is next week, I'll see what he says.
RustyhookerWill watch for updates
Thanks for the pressure fucker
RustyhookerIm gonna mark calender and comment here til completed. Lmao!
I always felt better after a donation. Like decompressed. I hate going though as i get white coat syndrome. Lol
SO,
He dropped me to 125 a week and told me to not take any ai for the last 3 months. I have not felt any different besides having a little more endurance in the gym and my heart not beating out of my chest. Blood pressure dropped as well. Only minor difference is Im sweating like a pig. I'll find out in a few days if his regimen did anything. He did drop it to see if it made any changes to my blood pressure and rbc count. I always told my endo I am not into giving blood anymore about a year ago. I was tired of feeling like I wanted to sleep all day for about 3 days afterwards. Could be because im a midget and cant afford to lose that much blood lol. Just waiting to see what he says.
RustyhookerMidget pint is only 3.5oz or ya....youll weeble wobble. Lol
I will say, the drunk without drinking feeling was fun
RustyhookerBonus! Lol! But no energy for few days would not be fun
Thursday the 12th 2:30pm eastern time. I'll have my secretary pencil you in for 4pm
Molinin302I personally feel better after, I'm hypertensive by nature and am prescribed a low dose of amlodipine. As with everything else, diet is key. Both sides of the coin can be argued as far as what donating blood can do for you, but what can't be argued is what it can do for others. Accident victims sure, but think of the relief your platelets or whole blood could give relief to a child suffering from cancer? Just do it bud, you'll get a genuine thank you from at least one person that day. Best wishes.
Yeah I donated today. I definitely understand the need for it and I wish it didn’t make me feel like crap or I’d donate every 8 weeks or so even if I didn’t have to.
Lol I don’t feel any different.
I can tell you with certainty that if you cut way back on red meat it will go down.
I’ve donated several gallons over the years and have figured this out.
Your hematocrit is related to your iron. You cut the iron back and it will go down.
I’ve tested this several times between donations and I’m certain of it.
Personally I feel no difference after donating.
I also just realized I have been on Redcon food based protein powder for months and they use red meat as one of the main proteins. I just switched to another brand that’s a protein blend but no red meats.
Yeah I didn’t even think about that. I eat red meat probably 3 times a week. When our local grocer puts their organic grass fed beef on sale we buy a shit ton of it so it’s a fair part of our diet. Probably have 30 lbs in the freezer now.
I think I let the numbers bother me too much. It’s all the fear monger doctors putting this in our heads. People in higher elevations have hct levels of 60 and they don’t get a phlebotomy.
You could try power red donation. They essentially strip 2 units of red out of you but return all of your plasma and platelets so you aren't running a quart low after the donation. You might feel better doing it that way.
Yup, literally just did a power red but could only do one unit because I was starting to feel like shit. Although I do feel better than last time I think I’m just going to do a regular donation next time and see if my body can get used to it.
There is also the theory that your body just replaces the lost blood immediately too, I think its a personal preference from what I have seen. Some feel much better after doing it, everybody appears to be different in how their body tolerates steroids. They say compounds such as anadrol, trenbolone and EQ increase blood cell count but this has never been the case in my blood tests and I have run a lot of those compounds over the years.
You are -- correct on that man. I’ve seen a lot of people say they felt great after they donate and I’ve seen the exact opposite. I feel terrible after.
