+ 2 Casein raises IGF-1

ad

Last night I got my blood work back.
http://www.eroids.com/pics/igf-1-662-on-5iu-hygenepharma-black-tops
My IGF-1 was raised +82/1iu compared to +56/1iu back in August.
Despite being on the new batch # 20140409 I was thinking about what other variables could have influenced the results. Since August I have just been on Hyges and vitamines, so no AAS.
Then it came to my mind that it could be the casein. I have been taking 2 casein shakes a day (about 50g) which corresponds to about 2L of milk. Then I did some research and I found this:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19471293

Summary: casein raised IGF-1 while whey did not, which means that IGF-1 increase is not protein related but the type of protein matters.

I stopped using whey about a year ago. I get most of my protein from food. I only purchase casein and have consumed it at night and around noon.

I guess I will change the noon to am

there is no need to change if whatever you are doing is working.

That's true. My weight is pretty stable. Thanks brother

No problem; every persons body composition and genetics are different so if you have a diet plan that continues to show you results then switching it would be bad news. I take 5 Protein shakes a day along with my meals and it shows me results so I march on. Before that I was eating all my protein and carbs in meal form and I was gaining weight but not all muscle. 125 grams of protein from powder; 100 grams of Carbs from powder; and the rest from food.

Some of you miss a trick with casein. Why only before bed? Think about it, steady release of protein works throughout the day too. I know it tastes like shit, so twice a day isn't the nicest thought but adding it in during the day isn't going to do you any harm.

Is there any reason why we shouldn't do one scoop whey and one scoop casein together? I don't recall seeing anyone ever talk about mixing proteins but it seems to make perfect sense.

jim stoppani talks about blended protein alot...he is sells it now so that has a little bit to do with all talk about it lol

Go for it.

I think most of you know I'm not big on supplements, I prefer real food. That being said if you can't get enough in its the way to go.

I have a blend of that exact mix that I use in the mornings. I got this so it would hold me over longer in the mornings. I love this stuff and it works for me. Glad it has other benifits.

I mix 1 scoop casein and 1/2 scoop whey to mimic the natural composition of milk.
Whey increases fasting insulin levels while casein increases IGF-1. They work together synergestically and don´t contain any milk hormones such as estradiol.

I have a custom protein blend I bought that has a mixture of whey and casein protein in a delicious (fkn terrible) dutch chocolate. I buy most of my mixes form here http://www.theproteinworks.com/create-your-own
It's on the expensive side but you can make any blend you want and how many grams per serving, e.t.c

The only powder protein I normally use is first AM mixed with my oats. Quick and easy breakfast.

During the day Im loading up on hydrolysate and isolate in between meals so I save the casein for an extended stay. I might start adding it next week.

Thanks bro. I take casein before bed but I had no idea it had this benefit. +2

Interesting. Also were you taking Adex while you were on cycle? It's known to lower igf-1 so now being off cycle and Adex it might explain the dramatic increase. I've heard some figures as high as 25% decrease because of Adex. Not sure how true that is tho

EagerToLearn's picture

No I was not so that shouldn´t be a factor

one of the main ingredients in bio gro is casein igf and it was proven to increase igf levels. Casein protein is one of the slowest absorbing so it should increase igf to a certain degree. Its why before I go to sleep I have a casein protein shake to feed myself while im sleeping.
