bicep tendonitis

ad

51 yrs old - TRT guy right now 14-16% BF 6'3" 235 - workout 5-6 days/ week -

For about the last three months i have been dealing with bicep tendonitis in both shoulders. so bad that the pain wakes me up when i roll over on it while sleeping. I am assuming that some of you have experienced this in the past, for those that have, what did you do to alleviate the pain and is there any proactive exercises to keep this from happening again. I do NO should presses - maybe my bench technique is fking terrible that it is causing the problems. Certainly open to opinions. I do appreciate the help

Stop doing flat bench for a couple months, switch to the smith machine. If you go back to flat bench after that change where you are gripping the bar and go light for a couple weeks. I have the same thing in my right shoulder where the bicep meets and when I go heavy flat bench I cant sleep that night on my right side. Give that a shot or risk the worst place to tear a tendon.

First thing I would do is get an MRI to confirm your diagnosis and determine if rehab is even possible without surgery. For some, surgery is the only option.

went to an ortho surgeon he confirmed it was bicep tendonitis - said he could give me a cortisone shot in one shoulder to see if it would work - if it does i could come back for the other shoulder - If the cortisone does not work then MRI and potential surgery. just seeing if there are other avenues

Appreciate the advise

3 of my favorites for this type of injury are all using a resistance band.

Secure one end of the band. Elbow bent at 90 degrees. Grab handle and rotate shoulder towards your body for one set then away for the next

Grab the resistance band in the middle with both hands about 12 inches apart. Extend arms out are fairly straight. Rotate your arms until that are close to perpendicular to your body.
