+ 3 Alcohol on cycle?

ad

Hi all,

Just wondering what everyone’s views are with drinking alcohol while on cycle?

I am partial to having a few drinks over the weekend, maybe even a couple during the week if I have had a stressful day at work and I was just looking for views and opinions on the matter? I never get drunk, it’s more just to chill me out a bit so it may only be 2 or 3, maybe a couple more on the weekend.

If I have had a drink the night before it doesn’t impact my time at the gym in any way, so it’s more along the lines of how badly does it impact the body as I read that it affects protein synthesis and can hinder gains that way over the training side. Just wondering how much of a difference this would make while on cycle?

I drink, and sometimes I homebrew etc.
No problems. Liver tests always good.

Nothing wrong with it, in moderation
Causes brewers droop for some, but hangover horn in others. For me it actually raises testo lol!

For me it actually raises testo

That's because along with the excellent hops and barley you use to make your home brew; all those fuckin' Irish sheep are pissing and rutting in that river you're drawing your water from.

giardap's picture

Its not just the river Greg,
It gets cold in the winter, you see!

Greg's picture

LOL

fusebox's picture

Always wanted to try homebrewing. Just haven't had the time I think it'll take to do it right. And if I can't do it right it's not worth doing

giardap's picture

If you want to take a shortcut, there are some great quality kits out there. But yeah, the full process is a labour of love!!

fusebox's picture

I'll probably start doing some research. Winter is coming you know

ashop's picture

Bad idea, too much stress on you liver. Plus its just bad for making gains in general.

Pumped_'s picture

So the popular consensus is "GIN & JUICE DON'T MIX!"

There is a very thin line that distinguishes two situations. The first is that drinking a casual drink in moderation has never killed anyone (mostly on weekends). I mean a normal fruit drink not very alcoholic. This moderation is very subjective and depends on each of us, that it is not a half bottle of tequila.

Regularly consuming two chemicals that put a strain on your liver is never a good idea and something that should always be avoided.

I don't know which side you're on.

IrishMack's picture

Spot on, Just because we all die some day doesn't mean speed up the process. If you need drugs to cope with stress then what else do you do?

Hello.
Baaad idea. Very bad.
And I can tell this from my side only and not telling you to take this advice or whatever. But.
It was my 3rd cycle with test and tren.
I haven't taken tren before so did not know much about how it might impact me. Well it made me bit emotional and also cold. Got in to lot of argumentos with my wife. And well. Alchohol kicked in.
Roids and alcho just don't work well together.
I started to get lazy. My estro started spiking and got really hard to bear. Hard to love with.
I will never ever mix cycle with alchohol. Not even small amounts.
-makes you lazy
-esteogen problems
-mental state
-lost relationship

After that I went to AA and did some sole searching. Was off gear and alcho for almost year. I am not touching that shit ever again. I don't blame the cycle I was in ir gear I was pumping into myself. I do t even blaim alchohol it self. It was mee and my week ass mind and willpower. But that mix alcho + gear fucked me up real nice.
And again. Lots of people here. With lots of stories. But I'm certain nobody can truly tell you that it's a good idea.
Keep safe man.

Agree 100% I can’t solely blame it on my my last marriage, but it sure didn’t help. It puts a strain on your liver and body and it made me very emotional as well. I winded up going to rehab and AA as too. It messed me up bad.

Keep up the hard work bro! Alcohol is not worth it.

LOL If there is one drink where there are no positives at all that come with it it's Whiskey - namely Jack Daniels.

I did a good few years on that stuff with either coke or lemonade every single night and every time it resulted in screaming arguments with partners then rough sex Lmao OR fighting in town with strangers. Its Steroid equivalent is definitely Trenbolone hahaha

MrTwitch's picture

Not gonna lie, this has been my first sober weekend since I can remember and it’s been not been very exciting... forgot how boring TV actually is!

press1's picture

That's because you should be either training or eating bud Lol

MrTwitch's picture

Hahaha fair point buddy! Guess I will stop moaning!

press1's picture

This is what the mind does for quite a while when stopping drinking - It will provide you with all the excuses in the world of why you need one or why this will be the 'last time' you will do it then tomorrow you will stop. Or its the end of summer so just make the most of it - hell everyone else is. You have to be stronger than all that.

I had this conversation with a guy the other day. I went to bid a job wat his house and he had been drinking. Just maybe 4 beers. Not smashed but smelled of it. He asked if I wanted a beer or a water. I politely declined both. It was hot and I'm drenched in sweat . I just told him thanks but I was water logged and had had enough beers. He looked confused about my statement. And asked enough from today? . I said no Enough for the rest of my life.. I was given a perfectly good opportunity to change the way I was living about 11 years ago and took it. He says oh I'm sorry for offering i didnt know you were an alcoholic. And that he apologized for drinking in front of me. With a smile I explained I havent even remembered what beer tastes like since working the steps in the program. Its one of the things He removed for me. Also the desire to change the way I feel. He seemed concerned that maybe his drinking was a problem. I asked if he thought he was an alcoholic? He admitted he had thought of it as a problem. But had never got in trouble from it. ( never lost a job , licence or his wife, kids and freedoms) . I chucle when I here that. The trouble my drinking caused ( the insain shit I did while drunk) wasn't what made me an alcoholic. Its just a tragedy that comes with pouring that much alcohol in a human body. What made me an alcoholic was the obsession that some day some how I would control and enjoy my drinking. Most normal drinkers even if heavy will recognize the trouble and quit. Not with the alcoholic. My will power is great as long as my brain sees something wrong with what I'm about to do. And my brain is the problem. Because no matter how much I lost or how bad it hurt or how much the last time cost. My brain will say " hey it will be different this time. " just try this way or that substance. Or only at home or some insanely stupid thing. See my drinking sidnt cause my alcoholism. My alcoholism caused my drinking. From the first time i tried it I made me who I thought I should be. Bigger , smarter , stronger, better looking. Smooth and the list goes on. The thing that got him to think about it was the fact that regular drinkers don't ever think they are an alcoholic. Just like crazy people don't know they are crazy. They just are. So if this thing is causing you to question your motives or asking for a cosign. Maybe you shouldn't do it. Two ways , or two test to see if this is a problem
1 on a day you have nothing to do have three beers/ drinks. And stop abruptly .
2 stop drinking for a year.
If you are able to do either
With out completely going mad.
You are not an alcoholic.
So if you are not then have a beer.
Who fucking cares right ? Its a beer.
What? a few carbs and maybe follow with some water to compensate for dehydration.
I'm allergic to alcohol.
I know for a fact if I drink
I WILL BREAK OUT IN A RASH OF HANDCUFFS.
Maybe not today or tomorrow but in a week for sure.
So if that's not you then have a beer.
And just know if that ever becomes you then we have a way out. A solution to that problem.

MrTwitch's picture

Thank you for your story Bill, speaking to you guys has really helped me see that i definitely have some sort of problem with alcohol.. it’s manageable now in the sense that I can always wait to have it but when I know it’s coming it’s the first thing I go for when I get home. and it’s that sigh of relief knowing “I can relax now”.. after speaking with you all I just thought it’s be a good idea to remove any alcohol from the house and just focus on being clean, eating the right stuff and the gym. Another little alarm bell is that when it’s not in the house I’m not that bad, but when I know it’s there it’s like I have to drink it because why not right...?

Who would have thought me asking a question which in way was me trying to justify still drinking and working out would be such an eye opener!

Johnny Bravo's picture

Going along with that watch out for replacing the alcohol with other things. After quitting everything for a while I began having a beer after work. I couldn’t wait all day to get home and have that beer and I was completely blind to this the whole time because I thought hey it’s just one beer. After some problems and quitting everything again I noticed I couldn’t keep sweets in the house. My roommates would buy junk like cookies and I’d get into them every night. Soon enough I was eating half a party box of chips ahoy a day. It sounds silly but it’s a very real thing. Common replacements are food, caffeine, and sex. The first two got me real good

MrTwitch's picture

Definitely buddy, I will be keeping an eye on that because that happened to me when I quit smoking! All I did was eat shit and ended up gaining almost 2 stone of fat... was the most depressing feeling ever.

Bill G's picture

Dude ! I'm a cookie monster for sure. Sweets are a good thing in moderation when trying to quit drinking. Our bodies don't know the difference between alcohol sugar and cookie sugar and the craving can be fixed with some candy. They always told me I can loose the fat from too many cookies but will loose my freedom from too many beers

Johnny Bravo's picture

A neuroscientist once told me getting drunk releases about 300 units of dopamine. Food, particularly sugar, is 50. Socialization is 100 and sex is 150. The brain is like a garbage disposal and it just knows the amount of dopamine released not what caused it. Take away your main source of dopamine it’s not uncommon to throw a little or a lot of everything else to make up for that loss. Forgot to mention how much coffee I drank at first. Blood pressure was crazy

MrTwitch's picture

Haha this made me laugh as i literally had a Maryland cookie in my mouth when reading this!

Bill G's picture

Man, I have spent a lot of time thinking im normal just to find out there are others like me and no we are not. It is always a good idea to have an out side perspective. ( to kick us in the ass) best of luck. And just to re iterate - if you find you can't leave it alone gove me a shout . I have a little experience with that. And will not hesitate to help point you in the right direction. Sounds though you are at best in the very early stages and could turn around with out having to go though what many of us have .

MrTwitch's picture

Exactly! I would always either see people at the shop buying alcohol, or know someone at work that drinks more and I would always compare myself and think, since they drink more than i do I clearly don’t have a problem...

Thanks for your help Bill, definitely helps knowing I can speak to others that have been through it if I need that extra kick up the arse.

Will keep myself away from the alcohol aisle, keep it out of the house and out of me from now on. Need to stop using it as a crutch and finding excuses to drink.
