Alcohol and Injectible Gear
I understand that drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana, and taking drugs while taking steroids can be very detrimental to your health.
In the case of alcohol, I understand it adds to an already high amount of stress on the liver and kidneys which can cause many complications. In addition, I know that even when not on steroids, alcohol can hurt gains through fatigue and limiting ACT production.
One thing I am curious about is if it may be slightly less of a concern while injecting aas. I would assume since the steroid bypasses the liver that this would be less of a concern. Am I correct in thinking this?
Are there other ways that the combination of alcohol and steroids can negatively affect you?
I ask this as my job often sends me to events where having a drink is considered polite.

All things in moderation. If you want a drink, have one. ONE, not six, and no one should make you drink job or no job no one makes you do anything.
I see a lot of valid points below, both attacking and defending the OPs stance, however, my take is this: when I run a cycle, I want to get the absolute most out of it, and there is no upside to drinking, I just avoid it entirely until pct is through. My job, without details, is one of the largest alcohol producers in the world, and we are REQUIRED to do tastings for new vendors/products etc, but I just persistently pass on it, and you can too OP, no one will crucify you for it. Bottom line is the choice is really yours, just be safe.
Maybe you should quit worrying about alcohol AND gear and get your diet in line. 5'6 145 lbs is no where near your natural limit. We have shorter dudes that outweighed you by 30 lbs before they ever touched gear. Also, your desire to find loopholes in when you can and cant drink during cycle, shows immaturity. Just because you claim to be in your thirties doesnt mean you are ready to fuck with your hormones. As a matter of fact this question usually comes from college students, so i am very suspect of your stats to begin with. However, my advice is as follows, stop drinking it inhibits gains on cycle and off. Dont cycle yet, read more about it and actually learn what you read. Get your diet and training in check, we have plenty of guys around here that can help you with that. Good luck.
Alcohol will raise sodium levels in the body causing hypertension as well.
Good to know, thanks for the insight.
Macros this, 100% committed while on cycle that. Live your fucking life man. No, a few drinks, or even a night out partying in moderation won't kill you. Neither will an awesome dinner date eating shit foods that don't fit your macros.
Assuming you're not an alcoholic, or some sort of drug addict and you live a clean life and stay on track with your fitness and nutrition goals the majority of the time... Enjoy yourself, enjoy your gains, and enjoy your life.
I'm with you on this one. I've found when I tell myself no too much I end up have way too much later. Its normally cookies but liquor counts too.
Lol, he sounds like a guy that knows how to live his life with moderation.
The original post was asking permission to drink on cycle, now we have this gem out there that states he has moderation issues, and motivation issues. Also, his stats clearly state hes 5'6 145. Everyone should be singing the same song, no cycling drunky guy.
Thank you for sharing. It's good to know that having 1 drink for an occasional event won't hurt me, so long as I get back on track.
That being said, I'm at the point in my life where I want to cut down on drinking any way. Having more than two drinks can make me sluggish for a few days which really affects my focus and motivation. Its easier to stay on track when you never get off it.
This is an easy one brother, if you dont feel like you should have a drink then politely say "no thank you". Its really that simple they have to respect you for that.
Why do you have to have a drink to be polite? You cant drink water, soda? A lot of people don't drink, it sounds like your just looking for an excuse to drink. This is the the problem with drinking on cycle, health effects put aside. You go out at 9 to start drinking, you miss your last two meals of the day, so now you didnt hit your macros and you're not in a surplus so you cant grow, or if your cutting your gonna blow past your calorie target with al the empty calories of alcohol. Then you wake up the next day and feel like shit, and mcdonalds sounds alot better then oats and egg whites. Not only do you crave shity food all day, but you don't fell that great so you don't eat enough once again, so thats two days in a row you don't hit your macros. If and if you do it again the next night well then 3 days down the drain. If your gonna do steroids you need to be 100% committed.
That's an awesome way to look at it ,its a domino effect.
Injecting still passes thru the liver, but only once where orals pass thru twice..I'm also a recovering addict and alcoholic so I dont drink but its probably safest to not add to the liver stress at all. Aas are rough enough on ur liver and don't need more.bullshit added. So get urself some liver health such as milk thistle or liv52
I'm glad to learn this. I would not assume that injected aas would affect the liver, and might not have been concerned as I should about it had I not been informed.
Bro, on August 24th of this year it will be 10 years since I had my last drink and also my last cigarette for that matter. I'm an alcoholic, I cannot drink.
I attend all sorts of business functions where people are drinking, the only people that really "care" if you are consuming an alcoholic beverage or not are people that have a drinking problem or are on the verge of one.
The fact of the matter is that while I was a drunk, I thought everybody drank. When I got sober, I discovered there are tons of people that don't drink.
Don't mix alcohol and juice oral or oils - and if u r looking for an excuse to have a drink - well, think through that very carefully.
X2. Alcohol gives me a migrane anyways if someone's gonna think it's rude if i don't wana drink then fuck them. No mature adult is gonna think twice about you turning down a drink. Plenty is people choose not to for a host of different reasons.
Awesome bro. I'm in recovery too, not as much time as you tho, ten years is a long time..I had a year then drank and had to start over so I'm going on 6 months now..congrats man +1
You will make it. I don't make to many meetings anymore but I will tell you it gets easier and easier as time passes. Sometimes the old timers just don't want to share that little tidbit. It's not a lifelong battle at all.
Yea I still get to 3-5 mtg a week depending on work, im about to start swing shift so I'll have to adapt And try new mtg And may not make it to my home group every weeks.I still struggle thinking bout the rest of my life with this problem so I guess I'll take it one day at a time like they say..glad u said it gets easier man.I just stay away from ppl, places, and things and stick to my gym and work routine, idle time is bad for me lol so I'm just tryin to build a brand new life
How's this to look forward to - when u get really sober - there are no bad people places and things anymore - they cease to exist and you can go into any situation without risk. Heck when I eat out by myself, I'm not gonna wait for a table, I sit at the bar and eat. Years ago, I never thought I would see the day.
That's awesome, 6 years for me now. it was a long climb but I'm always tryin to move forward. it seems like a huge community of recovering addicts here, easy place to fit in!!
