+ 10 2017 has been interesting

ad

ey dudes and gals,
2017 has been the ride of my life. Tough first year of marriage, lost my job as a firefighter in March, was able to bounce back and maintained a well paid job busting my ass doing construction.

For those of you going through tough times, always remember the there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Keep your head up and NO MATTER WHAT, don’t give up and keep pushing.

When you think your life is coming to an end, it’s time for re-evaluation of who you are. Instead of crying about it or being depressed, get outside, hit the gym, watch CT FLETCHER on Netflix and enjoy your life. Go to the beach, the mountains, somewhere that opens your mind to the possibilities of what you may be. Know that no matter what, you’re going to make it through this crazy life. God bless all

-MegaTRON

Construction is an awesome job brother.......I've been a roofer for 17 years and I consider myself very lucky.

Its good honorable hard work and I know I've earned my money at the end of the day

Your work is more intense than mine bro. I know shingles and roofs in general get hot as fuck. I definitely commend you brother!

you got that right brother, when u reach the end of ur rope tight a knot and hang on it’s never the end. The mountains is my favorite place to clear a mans mind. Lots of good advice there my friend. hope the next year blesses u with all the best!!!! After going thru brain cancer with my 16 yr old daughter I found lots more things in my life is small compared to hers, kids are strong. Not highjacking ur thread man just good advice for younger and older guys alike in that post brother!!!!!

MegaTRON13's picture

Thanks a lot brother! I’m very sorry to hear that about your daughter, my prayers go out to you and your family. It’s crazy how you think your life is, when a lot of other people have it worse than we do. We take life for granted. Thanks brother!

JARHEAD2's picture

Man I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve never faced it myself, but have faced it alongside close friends & there’s nothing easy about it. May God give you strength & send healing to your daughter!!

rabbitman's picture

appreciate that my friend, wasn’t trying to high jack ur post, we all have battles and demons we all overcome which makes us stronger in life than any amount of aas could.

Man reading some of this makes me realise no matter what there is always somebody out there that knows how you feel or is going through worse. Been a shit year for me too but seems like nothing compared to some of the stories on here. Stay strong people!

MegaTRON13's picture

Sorry to hear that brother, stay strong and keep your head up.

JARHEAD2's picture

There’s always someone facing the very same thing your facing & there’s always those who have it worse! At least you can say you have made through the bad year, many didn’t Bro! Keep your head man Smile

Boom! Well said, Jarhead2. Sadly, many people we love aren't with us today. Sometimes it's age, sometimes it's bad decisions, and often, it's simply shit that we have no control over. No matter what the case, the lament is real, almost crippling at times. It puts life into perspective, no doubt.

The saying, "one day at a time" doesn't just apply to those of us who are actively trying to stay sober. It applies to every single man, woman, and child. ONE DAY AT A TIME! Yes, plan for the future, duh. The key is to understand that your plans WILL change because of unforeseen circumstances.

My gratitude to be alive and surrounded by my loved ones is immense. It continually reinforces my decision to embrace true strength, including mental, physical, and emotional (spiritual) strength, on a day to day basis.

Control what you can, let go of what you can't. I know, I know, it's easier said than done. Still, it's so damn true. Let the fuck go of what you can't change. The REAL CHANGE in our daily lives happens when we (men) put our mental energy into that premise. Control what we can.

So get your ass to the gym. Eat real foods. Get good sleep. Cut out negativity (ie-news, facebook drama, energy vampire friends, bad habits, etc). I've said it a lot lately on this forum. Good days add up to good years. Get your lifts, brothers. They add up. Our loved ones need our strength.

JARHEAD2's picture

Exactly right brother!! I walked in a friends house Sunday to pick him up for church & he was face down in the floor & I could tell when I looked at his skin color that he was gone. He was 49 years old.... a widow maker heart attack. It was a grim reminder that our life is but a vapor & how important it is to stay strong & positive & make a difference every opportunity that we have in someone’s life! It’s appointed unto every man to die & then the judgement.... it’s worth the struggle & every ounce of selflessness to do make that difference.... just like you said my friend, our families need us!!
Love & respect brother!!

zeusmarada's picture

My heart breaks that you lost a loved one. BREAKS. None of us gets off the rock for free. We all gotta pay the reaper. I lament the loss with you.

+1, but not for the loss of your brother, but rather for your statement: OUR FAMILIES NEED US.

I hope more men read that simple sentence and take it to heart.

Regarding strength, it's paramount to living a good life. Since I don't compete, nor am I an athlete, I've always tried to see the gym as something simple, like it's just something I do. I brush my teeth, I shovel the snow, I kiss my wife before she heads off to work, I read to my kids, I go to the gym, I cook meals for my family, etc. It's just a regular part of my day, just like drinking coffee.

The gym isn't a focus in my life, although I admit, when I'm there, I'm focused on getting the most out of my limited time. Becoming a daddy in my life now means I'm an early morning lifter. 4am has it's perks, cuz the gym is a graveyard and I don't have to wait to use machines or dumbbells! But 4am still sucks to be awake and lifting. On the other hand, at 5am when I'm leaving the gym, life is glorious. Nothing beats being done with a workout. The days add up, indeed.

Jarhead2, your story is just yet another reminder of BE GRATEFUL. None of us knows when our time will be over. May we all live the fullest lives possible, filled with peace and grace. Those two things are attainable with effort, and dammit, the effort is worth it!

As always, thank you for your positivity on this forum. It is MUCH appreciated. Your good mojo makes my day! I honestly know, we're making a difference with every comment, with every answered question, and with every seed we plant in young men's brains. We didn't get to where we're at alone. If I drop dead, I hope people keep helping each other. We are all we've got in this life. Let us be strong for those who need us, indeed. Cheers brother!!!

JARHEAD2's picture

Perfectly said my friend!!

zeusmarada's picture

That old saying, "don't sweat the small stuff," rings truer with every passing year. It's easier to tackle the big challenges if you're not giving any mental energy to pointless drama & garbage. +1 for positivity. You'll go far with the attitude that YOU are in charge, not a victim. Much respect to you, MegaTRON13.

MegaTRON13's picture

Man, you hit the nail on the head.. only YOU are in control, when life kicks your ass, get back up and show life who you are... be a warrior Smile thanks brother!

zeusmarada's picture

+1 for the best nugget, ever.

ONLY YOU ARE IN CONTROL.

No one else controls our decisions. WE choose to be positive, WE choose to be productive, WE choose to hustle, WE choose to pick goals, chase them, achieve them, then make new goals and chase those. That, my brother, is what my definition of a warrior is. (Well, at least PART of what I consider being a warrior!) Cheers indeed to embracing the beautiful power, POWER, of choice. WE CHOOSE. Well said indeed.

A month ago I thought it couldn't get any worse! I was in jail, my girl just got out of jail, my Sister almost died, my Dad almost died! A month later and my loved ones are improving medically, my girl is done with her legal shit, and I am a free man that was able to spend Thanksgiving with all of them! Life can kick you in the dick but you can't let it keep you down. Try to find the good in the situation and live for that. These last few months have completely changed how I look at life. It has taken the absolute worst of life to make me realize how good life can be!

MegaTRON13's picture

Sorry to hear that bro, but glad you saw the positive and are pressing forward. Keep it up brother

MegaTRON13's picture

Thanks a lot brother!!

As long as you just keep putting one foot in front of the other you will eventually end up somewhere. Where it takes you is life.
Always just keep moving forward even if you get pushed backwards.

love the positivity

I'm goind through severe depression these past few weeks , I get these bouts that last a couple of weeks , ill take your advice on board , I just need to stay positive even though its tough ill ride it out , thanks for sharing brother and I'm glad yo got through your hard times

giardap's picture

You doing anything for the depression? Doc/meds or therapy?

IrishWOLFhound's picture

I was on every med you could think of , made a little difference but I was walking around like a zombie all day so I've stopped all the meds , just one a day for my thyroid . Therapy will be my next move I think , it cant hurt to try it

giardap's picture

Telling ya man... i will bet €100 its a T3 problem influencing the fecking depression
Fkn GP's... they'd fill you with meds for years on end, perpetuating the problem while the solution is right in front of them

CBT is a great therapy and relatively fast and cheap 5-10 sessions at 50-70€
Can really help while you nail down the thyroid

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Yeah my GP will give you meds like their fucking candy , I'm done with antidepressants , they mask the problem but not the underlying cause , I'll look into CBT and I'll give it a go , couldn't do any harm . If if works I'll give you that €100 haha

giardap's picture

Haha
If its t3 issue then i will chsrge LOL
Otherwise i owe you the 1er lol

MegaTRON13's picture

Don’t resort to drinking or any kind of drugs. Go kill the gym, make yourself better. You got this bro. The mind is messed up. Keep pushing brother

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Thanks for the kind words , I used to drink heavily and take benzos but gave it up a few months back , I'll keep hitting the gym hard and hopefully everything will be OK .

MegaTRON13's picture

Absolutely brother. Take care of yourself my friend

JARHEAD2's picture

Read my post below.... perception is everything brother. Keep your head up & stay clean no matter what man! You can always pm me if you need someone to talk to or some advice or anything my friend!!

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Yeah i read your post and I can't imagine how bad you must of been feeling during those times , your story proves that even though how bad things are things will eventually get better , as the saying goes "After every dark night comes a brighter day"
Thanks for your help brother I appreciate it more than you can imagine

I’ve find out myself that when I stopped giving a fuck about things like having lots of money, having a newer nicer car, a nicer bigger house, and all those shallow things, life actually started to happen. After all, we never gonna take anything with us when we die. This year I’ve almost completed all the adventures on my bucket list(obviously within my means) but always staying positive about even the worse things. Good post bro. And happy that y’all doing better
