+ 3 Top 7 Basic supplements in my opinion!
Hello fellow erodians, I have been doing some research on sups and decided to post on my top 7.
Just to cover the basis on your diet, your going to need some of these to help you build and retain muscle. If you were to be on a tight budget as I am, this is the bare necessity of sups.
1)Protien- I would go with something Isolate, whey or low in cals and carbs
2) Fish oil pills- Which are Relatively cheap
3) Multi Vitamin- I prefer Gnc or Animal pack
4) Casein- Slow digesting protein powder
5) Bcaa's- Branch chain amino acids
6) Waxy maize- Carb powder
7) Creatine- Preferably a monohydrate (Optional)

For protein straight after training or for during the day with a meal I always use Hydrolysate because it digest the fastest and easiest - and it contains zero lactose. After training its ideal because it digests so quickly you are then ready to eat within 30 minutes. I do use Concentrate before bed and things because it takes longer to digest and keeps you fuller for longer - but I have to take it with lactase enzyme so I don't get bad stomach bloating, nausea etc.
Fish Oil is very good for you if you can stand the fishy burps for some time afterwards LOL Not a fan personally. Flax seed oil is a good substitute
I take a general Multi Vit from the supermarket to cover the baseline intake - then take additional Vit C, D, B12, Folate, Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium to get the tendon, libido, Liver, free test benefits they give.
Casein I cannot stand the stuff - literally can't eat for about 12 hours after I have it LOL
BCAA's can be beneficial as the idea is you are getting Extra Leucine, Valine and Isoleucine above the ones you get in Whey and diet - Extra Leucine is vital for increasing Muscle protein synthesis rates but to be honest consuming EAA's is MUCH better as you get all 9 amino acids especially ones like Histidine and Methionine. I tend to add extra leucine in with EAA's to get even better healing from them.
Never liked Waxy Maize as it doesn't instantize with a spoon like Dextrose does - I like the sweetness of Dextrose too.
Creatine is debateable. All the science is there for why it should be so brilliant but in reality does it REALLY make such a huge difference for all the Sharts, Acid reflux it can cause? All I find with it is that it causes a temporary 3% strength increase above baseline level in main lifts that only lasts as long as you are using it daily - I don't think it increases recovery levels or size. HCL is definitely the better version to use if you want to use it. Monohydrate just causes stomach upset and headaches in me, seems to sit as grit in the stomach after a while as all of it never gets absorbed through the intestine wall.
How bout real fkn food????
I take a bunch. Ubiquinol, citrus bergamot, Omega 3, taurine, NAC, TUDCA.
Metamucil #1!!! Don't sleep on it. Best shits ever.
1) Isolate vs concentrate is such a dumb fucking argument. If 20 calories is gonna fuck off your entire diet, something else is wrong.
2) Do not buy CHEAP fish oil. Its a literal food stuff. It can go rancid and will oxidize. Spend up for Carlsons or Nordic.
3) Again, dont cheap out here.
4) Not really necessary. Fast, slow? It doesnt matter, just hit your protein target daily.
5) Pointless if you are hitting your protein target. Id make an exception to those who train fasted, good idea to at least sip aminos, but not BCAAs, use a complete EAA supplement.
6) Carb source for what? Intra workout? In that case its very person specific. HBCD is top tier. Waxy maize fucks me up. Karbolyn is decent for some people. Some dudes can get away with straight dextrose or maltodextrin
7) This should be #1, is non-negotiable. Absolutely not "optional"
Ummm...isolate vs concentrate....dude....lactose loaded vs the protein you want? You wanna pay 60 for lactose then have at it. This isn't some new shit bro...its marketing 101.
Carbs are pre workout....goddammit ya simply chow some oats and yams for 50 cents......medium grade carbs honey. Hell viking posted that 12yrs ago. Works great...natural...mix in your isolate honey coffee for a quarter. But hes a guru
Fast slow matters...lol! Jeeses bro...you understand chemistry? Fast proteins like isolate post workout WITHOUT CARBS so the hard workout with natty igf 1 spike plants that shit right into your muscle. Long chain so you do not spike unless WANTED....spike the medium chain carbs 45mins post workout with a complex meal so natty INSULIN packs them cells.
Hgh ramps post workout only if you lift hard as fuck. Hgh will shuttle nutrients into cells. Insulin will SHUT OFF hgh so run your complex meal 45mins later so insulin shuttles nutrients. So yes it fkn matters!
Pre bedtime you got 6 hours or more without nutrients..oh no....what to do??? Well theres simple Fast protein like isolate and theres slow burning protein like chicken. Pre bed eat something keeps you positive for 6 hrs...like chicken breast and broccoli.
I wish folks actually read from @Makwa @Viking etc etc etc right in the articles and stickies columns. Back in the day a dozen of us pledged to eliminate bto science......go back to 2010 etc...read....
Thank you for noting this all down in a 1,2,3,4 type of post, cause I was about to do it and then I seen it was already done for me. All your talking points was the same as I was gonna say.
Great minds!
1) Multi Vitamin- I prefer Gnc or Animal pack: For something like a multivitamin, I'd generally lean toward a good-quality capsule if the price is similar, mainly because manufacturers have more flexibility with ingredient forms and don't need to compress everything into a hard tablet like the GNC ones. GNC histrocally fails their 3rd party testing on a lot of their products.
2) Bcaa's- Branch chain amino acids: Worthless if consuming enough protein. Why drink a BCAA mixed drink when you could make a protein shake?
Bcaa is a ripoff....bcaas needed eat an egg or 4. Testosterone is a cholesterol....basic isolated drink provides them cheap.
You forgot steroids
TRUE LOL
You added protein in there twice, Casin, It's just a form of protein,. BCAA are also just broken down protein. If you have adequate protein intake from food, and supplement with whey, the cost benefit ratio of adding these items diminishes greatly.
Creatine Is the most studied Supplement that exists, Definitely deserve deserves to be on the list.
Yeah, and stay away from GNC, overpriced, without any added quality to justify that price.
