+ 1 Any off time from gear cycles in 2026?

ad

Does anybody else find in 2026 that it seems like people are on cycles 365 days a year? Myself included. I often think about getting a couple months off, but it does not happen. I find I cruise on Test P all year long eveenn inn between more intense cycles. Bodybuilders used to have off times inn the year annd now it seems like we all chase peak year rounnd.

I think social media has changed the culture quite a bit. Twenty years ago it was common for bodybuilders to have true off periods or at least significant reductions in drug use. Today it seems much more common for people to blast and cruise indefinitely, especially if they’re trying to stay lean and “Instagram ready” year-round.

The downside is that looking stage-ready 365 days a year comes at a cost. Even a “cruise” isn’t really an off period, you’re still suppressing your natural testosterone production and exposing yourself to ongoing cardiovascular, hematologic, and endocrine risks. Those risks accumulate with time, not just dose.

I also think there’s a psychological component now. People are constantly posting physique updates, so there’s pressure to never look flat or lose size. Years ago most competitors accepted looking like an average gym guy for part of the year. Today many don’t.

From a health perspective, it still makes sense to have periods of lower exposure whenever your goals allow (less than 250). Whether that’s a true off period or a”TRT dose, giving your body a break from higher doses, keeping blood work in range, controlling blood pressure, hematocrit, lipids, and taking recovery seriously are probably more important than chasing a peak look year-round.

The irony is that very few people can actually perform or recover at their best while trying to maintain their absolute peak physique all year. Productive off-seasons are usually built around sustainable training, nutrition, and recovery not just staying “on” continuously.

the amount of physique updates is so over the top. I find that keeping an eye regularly what the scale says to be one of the greatest assets to staying peakish year round. Having a real gauge of where you are at.

What a brilliant response and I so agree. The nutrition year round being done to a T is so crucial and somethingn that has become night and day differences in being at a more peak look year round. Truthfully, I know the body peaks once or twice a year. The blood work is a brilliant idea annd something i nneed to get done more.

20 years ago... they said they didn't even use steroids. How do you really know what anyone was doing?.

I’ve just done a cycle of test, primo and HGH for 19 weeks. I look the best I’ve ever looked and I’m desperate to stay ‘on’. But I’m 46 and I just know my body’s calling for a break. I’ll give it 2 months and then add some meat over winter. 2 months off and then same again in to spring/ summer.
I’m not walking on stage etc, it’s all for fun. Mentally it’s nice for me to relax and see where my bloods are to catch anything before jumping back on the fuel.
I drop to 125mg test U in between

I run 4-5 week cycles on the conservative side of dosages nowadays. I give labs every 6 months for trt. Ill usually start a cycle the day after lab work and run low doses, short/no esters, for 2-3 months max, then spend 2-3 months cleaning out before blood work again.

I think going completely off is just pointless. The old school guys say, it’s to reset your androgen receptors, but I feel like going into a TRT dose for a few months does exactly that. I just don’t think you need to come completely off for that to happen.

I feel like coming completely off Test would be more detrimental to your overall physical and mental health than it would help.
