+ 1 Do You Tell Your Doctor About Your Cycle/TRT?

ad

Went to a new general doctor today since I’m somewhat new to the area. I was completely honest with him about everything I’m taking and asked him to run a full set of bloods. He actually admitted he had never had someone come in asking for the kinds of tests I requested lol. He even said he didn’t really know what a “normal” estrogen level should look like in someone running gear. At first he seemed skeptical about ordering everything, but after talking with him he agreed to do it. Turns out my insurance covers bloodwork every 3 months, so it’s only costing me about $10 per test instead of paying hundreds through private labs. Big win for me.

Curious what you guys do — are you honest with your general doctor about what you’re taking and use insurance bloodwork, or do you avoid telling them and just go through private labs?

Absolutely not. I don’t need them documenting that shit.

I’ve been thinking about doing that with my Endo I just switched to him so I’ve been toying with the idea of being completely honest. Like bro my free test was at 2ng/dl and my total is 500 I had no sec drive no motivation I had to get myself test and start my own trt can you do the blood work so I can regulate my numbers. Worst case he tells me fuck off best case he says sure and write me a script

Yeah, I agree that doctor sounded unprofessional. I didn’t tell my doctor what I take either. I just told him I use things that can affect my health and I want to monitor everything to stay healthy and safe about it. These are the panels I want tested. That should honestly be enough. A doctor doesn’t have to approve of it, but they should still act professionally and help monitor your health instead of reacting emotionally.

exactly, thats what their job is. we come to them for our health. i went to them because i was concerned for my health and you turned me away. but thats the reality we live in. most docs are scum anyway and just wanna put people on bad meds and ruin their brains/body and make m0ney off of people. its hard to find a good doc sadly.

Yeah, that’s pretty much my point. I’m not expecting a doctor to approve of everything someone does, but if a patient is honest that they’re using things that can affect their health, the professional response should be monitoring and guidance, not shutting them down or reacting emotionally. Good doctors absolutely exist, but it can definitely be frustrating finding one willing to approach it objectively.

Nah. Mums the word.

My doctor would have to be obviously on gear and open with me about it before I'd say anything. Otherwise it does zero good to say anything.

exactly...he can treat issues if needed, no need to volunteer the potential causes.
I do bring a substantial blood panel to my physical bc the one they order is a joke.

I get that honestly. That was part of why I always avoided it too. I finally figured having accurate bloodwork and a doctor that at least knows what’s going on was worth it for me. Curious how many guys keep it completely separate though.
