+ 1 Different rubber stoppers on vials
ad
Has anyone already come across this type of rubber stopper? (the one on the left in the picture). Seriously, why would a brand use different types of stoppers?
On the left side there’s a white/transparent rubber stopper, very well stretched, solid, you can really feel the difference when the needle goes through, and it’s almost impossible to get rubber particles from it.
On the right, you have the mediocre rubber stopper that’s been causing controversy and that we see everywhere

My wifes estrogen has a stopper like that. Now Im thinking of drawing it all out and putting it into a sterile vial with a rubber stopper.
You have to be careful with the stopper on the left. A bunch of brands started using those silicone stoppers years ago, but stopped because of allergic reactions and the fact that you have to be careful what gauge pin you draw with because it will literally cut a hole out of the silicone when you push it thru due to it being much softer.
You use to see the type on the left used a lot some years ago, then a lot of the Labs began using the ones on the right. I assume its because they are cheaper to buy when using in a mass production setting. As we now know - they are not reliable. I guess they will be phased out.
'I know now why you cry - But it is something I can never do .....
The one are the on the left are silicone.
They're actually cheaper and they degrade easier which is why you should always stood vials standing up.
The one on the right is a rubber stopper it doesn't degrade as bad. If pins are used that are 23g or better they don't fall apart either. Still should be stored standing upright.
On another forum nobody will buy gear from domestic sources if they use the silicone stoppers cuz you end up with plastic in the gear from the solvents eating away at it. They're real hard on sources though. Want pictures posted of the equipment, how is cleaned your of equipment used.
