+ 1 Mounjaro Journey so far with no insurance

ad

Hey bros,
As a vet with no insurance coverage (VA doesn't always hook it up for off-label weight loss stuff), I wanted to share my real experience with Mounjaro (tirzepatide) over the past several months. Figured some of you gear users cutting or recomping might be curious, especially if you're dealing with post-service weight gain like I was.
Background: I'm in my mid-40s, got out a few years back, and ballooned up to around 245 lbs from stress eating, beers, and less consistent training. Tried the usual calorie deficits, more cardio, but nothing stuck long-term. Heard about GLP-1s like Mounjaro from some guys online and decided to pull the trigger.
Getting it without insurance sucks retail is $1,000+ a month, but I shopped around pharmacies and used some discount cards/apps to get it down closer to $500 per box from modadeal (google it). Started low at 2.5mg/week, ramped up slowly to 7.5mg. Sides were mild for me: some nausea first couple weeks (ate smaller meals, helped a ton), occasional fatigue, but nothing that stopped me from lifting.
Results so far: Dropped 42 lbs in about 5 months (from 245 to 203). Most of it fat, I've been hitting the gym hard (compounds + some cardio) and eating high protein to fight any muscle loss. Appetite is crushed; I don't crave junk anymore, which is huge after years of battling that. Strength dipped a bit initially (probably from lower cals), but it's stabilizing now that I'm dialing in protein and keeping lifts heavy.
Pros for us vets/no-insurance crowd:

Actually works when willpower alone fails
Helps with that stubborn midsection fat
No pinning gear daily, just once-weekly subQ

Cons:

Pricey without coverage. Budget killer, but for me it was worth it over staying heavy
Gotta watch muscle. Lift heavy and eat protein (1g+/lb bodyweight)
Not magic; still need discipline

If you're a veteran struggling with weight and thinking about trying it, hit up

Anyone else here running Tirz/Mounjaro while on cycle or cutting? How's it going for you?

Stay strong, brothers.

Since you can’t get yours covered by insurance have you considered Lizzo?

I feel like this is a thinly veiled ad.

Sorry bro. We all already know where to get "off brand" glp-1,2 and 3

My bad if it comes off like that. Was trying to be helpful. Can you steer me in the right direction for reta kwikpens? I can't be bothered with mixing it myself. Afraid to mess up the dosages.

Thanks for you replies guys! I ordered reta once and it was in a pen since I don't want to mix and match it myself. Scared to mess up the dose ya know. Been injecting with the lilly pens without a hiccup. Getting them here: https://modadeal.com/shop/weight-management/mounjaro-tirazepatide-5mg-kw... Hope thats not against the rules.
If you guys got a good source for reta in a kwikpen pls share it with me

It seems to have done the trick for you brother. Congrats on the weight loss and thank you for your service. You should be able to find Tirz on here for much cheaper than $500 a month.

Good work man! And thank you for your service.

You should consider getting tirzepatide in vial form off a source here, same product as your mounjarno just have to do a little bit of work compared to a pen. And then once you get comfortable using from those sources you can look into getting from "grey market vendors" which is even cheaper. I got my parents a few year supply of tirz(1800mg) for what you pay for a month of mounjarno,

As far as the GLPs go I agree with liverpool, alot of guys myself included are using reta over tirz however im actually thinking about switching to tirz for more appetite control. It seems like alot of users eventually lose the appetite suppression after long periods of being on retatrutide. Hell of a drug though, great for body recomp.

I'm glad to hear you've made good progress and will be feeling better about yourself.

I think some guys may be running tirz but I'd say from what I've seen the majority are now running retatrutide. I personally am using it at .5mg per week and absolutely love it, zero cravings and weekly weight drops - I do know how to diet though so I'm not letting it crush my appetite. You may want to look into it and I think it may be a lot cheaper than the tirz you're paying for.
