Loss of strength & endurance on Reta?

ad

Been on Reta for about 4 weeks now. About the same time I started Reta I noticed my workout capacity was reduced. I thought it was mental at first, I would quit sets early or lower the amount of total sets I'd do. I started skipping exercises. Felt like I lost all my drive and motivation. Wasn't sure what was going on, but then I read on the Retatutride reddit about people experiencing similar things and attributing it to the Reta. Wondering if anyone experienced anything similar? I've been bummed because I've been eating at maintenance/surplus recently but my progress seems to have stalled and I just don't have the energy that I used to, which is strange because I was progressively overloading and grinding out sessions like crazy while in a severe cut up until recently.

Anyone saying Reta is catabolic shouldn’t be offering info. There is 0 correlation to Reta being catabolic other than people eat less on it and lose muscle while dieting improperly…

The guys below me are definitely hitting all the solid points on why you feeling like this.

I went through same thing as you, I called it "the big empty" as not only it impacted me physically it also gave me a slight depressive mental response like life became just more dull. Once your body adjusts to fueling your body this new way all this stuff subsides.. for me it was 2-3months (i was running 5mg a week then). Im running higher doses now and tons of energy and no brain fuzz.

Ride it out, change your training approach until then. I focused on balancing out my unproportional areas and different exercises that I dont have usual bench marks on to compare myself too so I wasn't upset by old numbers I used to get cause everything was new so it would always move forward.

Hope this helps.

To me I just always assumed if you are taking a GLP you will be losing some strength because you are taking in less calories. I didn't put any more thought into it than that. Now if you are combining it with Test or some other compound then that changes. But a GLP alone I just assumed you will lose strength etc. Just makes sense to me Im not eating 3000 calories Im eating 1800. well yea my strength is going to go down.

But I'm not eating less calories yet. I'm eating well over 3K calories most days right now. I think due to my past history with Tirz, the Reta dose will need to be much higher before I get to the point where I'm eating less calories again. Also, I gained a lot of strength while on Tirz over the past year due to newbie gains but have recently stalled which is weird because now I'm eating at maintenance/surplus so I'd think my lifts would start progressing again.

Reta is very catabolic and the fatigue is no joke. But if you stay on it, your body will shrink... that's 100.

Do a lot of walking and light exercises if you can. Lower your dose if you need to. Keep your protein shakes up and you will harvest lean tissue as you drop weight.

Show me proof Reta is very catabolic.. lol

Well, I'm not sure about reta directly causing muscle loss, but presumably if you're taking reta, you're cutting which does directly cause muscle loss considering that your in a deficit. That struggle is real. I know you said you're currently in maintenance/surplus but you also mentioned being in a deep cut.

Just some unsolicited advice here - search up makwa on here and he has some guides to cutting, workouts to do and how to do them in a cut etc. they are really really good info. But you still have to get ur ass in the gym and power thru them.

So I was on Tirz for over a year up to 15mg and I lost about 90 lbs, but I'm still above 20% body fat. The effects slowly wore off to the point that I didn't even think it was working. I did start taking HGH in the past two months so I have a feeling that's drastically increased my hunger and was offsetting the GLP effects. I decided to switch over to Reta after the break. Started at 2mg, now I'm at 3mg, and going to go up to 4mg next week as I don't really feel a pronounced effect yet. I'm still having crazy cravings like I used to and I'm super hungry all the time. Been eating 3-4k calories daily without issue. I'm even adding Cagrilinitide to try and offset the cravings and food noise. It seems to be helping a bit. Today was the first day in like a month that I ate under maintenance.

I don't think I'm actually losing muscle mass at the moment, I'm going to get a DEXA scan tomorrow actually since I've been at the same weight for like 2 months. Last month I got one, and it showed I was recomping thanks to the HGH, but it's more like my drive is gone. The voice in my head, which used to say "One more rep, you got this!" is now "Fuck it." I've read some anecdotes from other athletes who mention their capacity has been reduced. Google says these meds should actually increase performance, so maybe it's being off them for the 5 weeks that's caused me to lose some steam.

I think we were talking in another thread our situations are nearly identical. I ran pharma Tirz up to 15 mg, same drop-off over time, then switched to Reta and honestly didn’t feel much until I pushed up closer to 7 mg. Makes me wonder if we might’ve even bought from the same source and ended up with borderline or underdosed product.

Not sure about your training history, but lifting in a deficit kinda sucks. Not much to look fwd to in terms of growth or hitting personal bests. Sounds more like you have been mostly recomping/losing weight. Try to stick with it my man. Don't ONLY lift for the sake of the drugs. Once you get to a certain point you will do a switcheroo and be lifting in a surplus and then lifting gets very fun. I did it natty for years. This winter will be my first enhanced bulk. I'm very pumped for it.

lucid1014's picture

Well I've only been lifting a year, so fortunately i was able to see a lot of gains even in a 1000 calorie deficit, but that's mostly stalled which is weird because like I said I'm now eating in a surplus so I don't know what's going on. I'm also on GH but have yet to see much result from that as well.

Milfpounder's picture

Oh ya, so sounds like you spent your newby gains. Usually takes about a year where you're able to PR like every week. Slows down a lot, ESPECIALLY in a deficit. I would definitely stick with it buddy. Lifting weights, regardless of your genetic potential is awesome. Don't let your lack of motivation kill it for you. Find some other way to get pumped for it.

lucid1014's picture

For sure, I'm still going three times a week, but just feel like I'm doing less reps/sets overall than I was a few months ago and a lot of my lifts have stalled. I just got my dexa scan results back from today though and it says I gained 6.8 lbs of lean mass in the past 40ish days, which doesn't seem accurate to me.
