Every Last Drop, Combining/Mixing, Empties

ad

This is kind of a weird one but I’m wondering what protocol you guys have when you finish off your vials. I’m coming up on 8 months after first cycle then cruise, doesn’t seem harmful to combine the last drops of test into one. Maybe use heat to get all residue? What do you do with your empties? Just chucking them? Any other purpose they can be used for I’m not thinking of? I really want to organize and refine my storage process, it’s getting slightly chaotic at the moment with my stash, partials, “empties” and pins. Any ideas or insights are greatly appreciated.

If you really need that last drop, fine go for it. But as a safety practice, never never stick your needle into that old vial to draw up a partial dose, and then use that same needle to stick into your new vial.

Whatever potential contamination built up in that old vial, you now just transferred to your fresh vial. If you do that over a few "generations" of vials, you keep building it up to a point that the dose of bacteria is going to actually cause an infection.

Just draw up that last partial dose, inject. Get a new needle, draw from your fresh vial, the other half of your dose.

And that empty vial? Toss. Multiple punctures in that seal at this point. And the pressurization is gone. Empty new vials are dirty cheap, on many sources here, and even on Amazon. Your health is worth more than 5 bucks...

I never thought to re use a vial like that, I guess you technically could if you could sterilize everything. Not worth it though. I’m not worried about these drops, hence why they been sitting.

I kinda figure as much. They’ve been sitting forever now and I question contamination over time.

I collect them like Wine Corks. Gonna make a table top out of them one day. Smile

I was trying to think of something like that to do for artwork or decor.

Wait a second… does anyone here have gauges?!?!

Seems like a 10ml would fit perfect for most people LOL!

That is something I could see @Sithx66 doing hahaha! If you have gauges PLEASE try to slip a vial in there ROFL

Lmao I’m currently at 30mm on my journey back to 41mm after having them out for 6 years. I’m sure they will fit! I’ll throw one in there when I get home lmao

I toss them for much less reason than that bro. Not worth the possibility of cross contamination into a NEW vial, then infection, just for a few drops.

Haha I trashhhh em! No hate or judgement I hate waste, but you should be able to pull needles down and get virtually everything in the vial. That little .05ml (IF THAT) isn’t worth the effort or risk haha. Normally I can’t even see anything left if I actually try to ensure I got it all while drawing.

If having trouble, add lots of pressure to vial with air injected, barely insert needle until you see tip break the stopper, and then draw as usual Smile

For mixing purposes and such ya can buy sterile vials online. Not many of us keep the packaging equipment or an autoclave at home to guarantee no contamination.

Pressure cooker works with a little bit on water on the bottom and something to hold them up out of the water.

Even pubmed has studies/articles on them used as autoclaves

Yes you can make anything “sterile” and there are way to do it with heat alone at home… but you don’t want to do that with empty vials. The stoppers and considered already being crimped and “air tight”. That is a process that is more similar to canning, and the vials are much more likely to explode especially leaving a few drops inside.

Not worth the 0.05ml and such.

Oh man I’ve thrown vials away that were blends that had like 3ml left in them because the cycle was done and didn’t have any more to run another cycle with it. lol I’m definitely not going full “my precioussss” over here. But just thought I’d throw out there pressure cookers have been studied for sterilizing lab equipment, needles, etc and it was just as efficacious as an autoclave. It’s cool to me.

Oh yeah man you can do the same with extreme heat! Ya ever seen someone blowtorch a knife before cauterizing- some movie magic BS has a base in science hahaha. I agree though it’s always neat to learn new things!

I assumed you were advocating for pressure cooker autoclaving empty vials and then getting the tiny last drop haha

I actually do what you suggested when I need to empty a vial. Pressurize it with air from the syringe and let the pressure differential push the remaining oil in to the barrel
