Hey guys! Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jay, I’m a 37 year old big city firefighter, Husband to a smoke show wife and father to two amazing boys 12&10.
I have about 18 months clean. I hit the oxy and liquor but more oxy hard after a severe work accident that almost ended my life and career. I went into sever depression, stopped caring about life and my body at that time. If it wasn’t for my rock star wife, I would be dead right now no doubt. I don’t do anything in moderation (and that includes gear lol).
I just wanted to introduce myself to you all

We're all happy to have you here buddy!! Thanks for joining the group, and introducing yourself!! Feel free to message me or any of the other guys if you need anything or have questions.
Thanks for the welcome!!
Glad you found this end of the forum! -- This is where we come to kinda drop off our shit and accept feedback from other recovering addicts, such as myself. You're in a good place brother! I'm pleased to make your acquaintances. Feel free to come here and vent. You can friend request me if you're in need of an ear on a personal level. There's many others here who'd offer you the same. Some really good dudes on here! Welcome brother
Appreciate it pal!!
Hope you are keeping well mate and staying positive
Hoping the pain has subsided a little.
Can we pm pics on here? I updated that post with the X-rays, with my post op X-ray. It's crazy brother! I've got 6 plates, 8 hooks and 12 screws in just my right lower leg alone. There was alot they couldn't fix or reattach. It's bad Press! I'm trying so hard to not let it bring me down but damn dude. As if the pain I'm in isn't bad enough. Sorry, I'm not tryna hijack anyone's post. I'm just reaching back to ya mate.
Man I feel you bro! I have plates and screws in my arm and leg from my work injury, and multiple back problems. It’s not fun man. I hope you get through this bro. It’s tough and I feel the worst part is the mental part. The pain is a side effect to me
The pain is just becoming tolerable now. It fucking burns so bad. It's a different kind of pain. I've had 3 back surgeries and it was a painful time, but this is way different. It's possible that there'll always be some nerve damage in there. It was a pretty rough injury.
It's the mental for sure! I'm not a sit around kind of guy whatsoever. I'm always moving, doing something. These last 2 weeks have been miserable. Even immediately following my back surgeries, when they told me not to move, I still moved. I made myself do it. I just can't with this. It's too fragile yet. Driving me crazy bro! Lol
I haven't seen it - having a look now pal.
No we cannot send pictures in private.
Welcome in my man!
Thanks buddy!
Great to meet you. Thanks for doing what you do. Im in recovery too. Im sure you can relate, but gear does wonders for combatting depression.
Gear sure helps!!
Welcome in brother!
Hey Buddy!!
Brilliant to have you here in the group matey
Sounds like you have an Amazing wife that shows you what Love is all about, who stood loyal and by your side through the Good times and the bad. You have a great job too - I wish I could of done something like that constantly saving and helping people but I was too weak minded back then and chose to drink and chase the wrong things in life lol
She was my rock. Without her, I wouldn’t be here. As for the job, it has taken its toll on me over the years, physically and mentally. It’s rewarding at times, but also difficult. I was an adrenaline junkie (among other things) so it lead me into this. Now I have a different job description for the department but still enjoy it
I can imagine that over the years you see some very distressing things - I have often imagined that Road Traffic Accidents have to be some of the worst with the situations you have to free people from and the injuries you see, its not just putting out fires.
Right on man. I was Coast Guard back in 2009 to 2011. I was stationed in Santa Barbara, Ca. I was dabbling with pain pills back then too at 19 years old. By 24 I was on my way to prison for robbing pharmacies. Those pills almost fucking killed me.
I’m now married to an amazing woman myself and we have a two year old. I believe in God and that’s who saved me …but I’ve also had relapses the last 3 years during my marriage and my wife has been so damn loyal and amazing. Gotta have you a queen bro!
I’m glad you came out the other side! Those pills grab ahold of you fast and hard. I’m glad you are thriving now! Having an amazing woman by your side definitely helps and makes all of the difference. Just take it one day at a time
