Accidental sciatica injection

ad

I was just wondering if anyone has ever accidentally injected in or hit their sciatica nerve when injecting into the glutes? The past few days my sciatica has been killing me and there isn't any other reason I could think of. I didn't do any workout that would have thrown it out or any sudden movement. Im 38 and have had all types of injuries and soreness issues all over my body and have had sciatica problems in the past but there was always a reason that I knew of why it went out.
So I did some research and there seems to be where people have had their sciatica nerve hit during injections and not just steroids either. Other just basic type of injection meds and end up hitting their nerve in medical facilities. I wanted to see if anyone has had it happen to them by themselves or medically and how long it lasted because it doesn't seem like it's easing up. It's really messing my daily life and workouts up. Appreciate any responses and thanks ahead of time.

To be honest, this is why I don’t pin glutes. My pinning technique isn’t the best which is why I stick to long esters only now but short esters were always better IMO

Got some pretty bad crippling sciatica by injecting high milligram compounds. The injection site was not even that close to the sciatica course or route, but when inflammation happens, everything around it gets affected. Shit, even my knees and ankles were hurting. Never again ordered those 500mg per ml vials.

I was thinking exactly what primo said. No way you came close to the nerve of u did oh man would u know. But maybe it cause swelling that pushed on it a lil bit. I've come close to nerves in my quads, Def don't think i hot one, anyway the muscle spasms and it feels bad and wood at the same time, best way i could explain. Then u pull the needle out so fast u might not have known you could move that fast. Lol.
Still when i do the quads now to this day i go so slow in cuz I'm a Lil traumatized from that and worried it's gonna happen again.

Man, I just pinned quads this morning and didn’t hit a nerve but when I pulled the needle out blood squirted across the bathroom. I always have some problem quads but I never get pip so I keep going back I gotta just take em out of rotation.

Lol... that Halen to me a few months back with tren e and tren a in the same barrel, 30 seconds later i started feeling like i was dying. I had the cough but even coughing didn't help. It was bad.

So in the hospital we usually din’t give injections in the dorsoglutes because there’s decent chance of irritating the sciatic nerve (or some other lumbosacral nerve) and there’s a ton of normal anatomical variation in the nerve courses in this region so even if you do it in exactly the “correct” spot you may still cause sciatica. If what you’re experiencing is mild nerve pain then I would say that odds are that there’s just a bit of swelling somewhere along the nerve course and it’ll resolve on its own in a few days. I’ve had this same problem personally and it’s annoying but no big deal. Try taking a few long brisk walks and doing some very light stretching, as long as that doesn’t irritate it more. You could try NSAIDs or hot/cold packs but I can’t vouch for the efficacy of those, it just makes sense that it might help. You didn’t hit the actual nerve because, believe me, you would have known as soon as you poked it. If you’re experiencing intense pain, swelling, redness or the injection site is noticeably warm to the touch, go see a doctor. I’m guessing if you give it few days it’s resolve on its own though. Maybe consider not injecting into DG anymore as well. I quit after my incident and started using lats as an alternate and now they’re my favorite spot to pin.

Appreciate the info. It was a pretty bad pain but nothing else like swelling and redness. The only thing I've used that has worked has been the ice pack. I have been stretching and today I took my dog for the first time in a few days for a walk and it was irritating as I walked but now that im back and laying down it actually feels pretty good. So you are right about the stretching and walking to help it. I never would have that it would but it is little by little. I never done lats. Not sure how I would go about that honestly. I do glutes, delts when I do 3 shots a week but everyday injections I add upper quad. As for the DG it was a mistake on my part on being in a hurry and rushing. I just swabbed and injected not paying to much attention of where I was going. Hard lesson learned lol

What?? Thats not how nerves work. That injection has nothing to do with whatever you are feeling. Go see a doctor.

Honestly this is so fucking stupid, you really think you can inject INTO A NERVE?

Glad to see I found someone on here that knows everything about how nerves and the body works. I appreciate it doctor dickhead. Where did you get your PhD Cocksucker University. It was a question and wanted to see what it might have been. You don't gotta be a asshole to someone for asking a medical question. I'm sure every pin you have done has been perfect and never had issues, right? LMAO

Takes a big man to admit when he’s wrong. Much respect bro

This guy probably has a little inflammation causing some pressure in the nerve. It’s a known side effect of injecting dorsoglutes. We don’t do it in clinic unless we absolutely have to push like 50 cc of something IM for some reason (which I’ve never even seen but nurses will tell you stories about that one guy that blah blah blah). If you’ve even hit a nerve you know that you’re right that you can’t inject into it but if the depot is too close it 100% could cause an issue.

Thanks for making sense of what it was that happened. It makes a lot more sense because I thought it would have hurt a lot more like you said if it went straight into the nerve. That's why I figured I would ask on here and thankfully have someone seemingly smart help out instead of being a ass. I appreciate it brother.

No problem bro. I give injections professionally and I’ve done the exact same thing to myself. I’ve never fucked up an injection on a patient but when it’s for me I might be rushing in the AM or on the phone or whatever and I’ve made every mistake in the book. It can happen to anyone, just try to learn from it, heal up and move on.
