+ 5 Since everyone else is posting their mongrels
This is Lola. I've had her for maybe 3 years now so she's something like 5. The rescue center could only give me a guesstimate of her age when I adopted her. She was in a high kill shelter down in San Antonio and when her time was almost up the shelter I got her from stepped in a took her so she wouldn't get put down. According to the shelter she's a pit mix of some kind
This is my second dog. I adopted my first dog from a local kill shelter. She was a stuffy mix or maybe full blooded with the way she looked and behaved. She developed cancer in multiple places, lost control of her rear legs, tail and bladder in the end and had to be put down. By the third night of her not being in bed next to me I started looking for another dog to rescue. I was hoping for another very relaxed and people loving dog. Instead I got a nutcase who likes to go tearing around the house for 15 minutes after she's been on a 30 minute walk. She was pretty skittish about other people, especially large men, to start but she's gotten much better and now just thinks everyone wants hugs and kisses.
She has a thing about messing up the bed as soon as I leave the house every day. When I get back from the gym I always find my bed all messed and her looking at me like she's just done the most amazing thing ever. She wasn't the dog I was trying to get but I've gotten quite attached to her the longer I've had her. Crazy energetic but she's damn cute and tends to be a conversation starter when I take her for walks.

She's a Cutie Mate - Very unique looking dog with the markings!
Rescue dogs tend to be special, great job.
At this point i don't think i'll ever get a pet that isn't a rescue in some way. I'm on my 4th currently. Both my cats and original dog have passed. I always go and look at either kill shelters or places that rescue animals from kill shelters first.
