A little update on Kota. She is now 5 months old and is already hunting like a well-oiled machine. Been on a 3 week vacation and hunting everyday with her. She gets better everytime we go out and I can already tell she is going to be a master hunter

Good day to you. Your dog is very beautiful. I'm sorry for stupid questions, I'll tell you right away Smile Are you a hunter? do you hunt often?
She looks so small and is she the one who caught this game?

I do a lot hunting. Take most of Oct and Nov off of work to get out in the woods and hunt. She flushes the birds so I can shoot them and then fetches them up and brings them back to me.

You are a hunter, this is very cool. My grandfather was a hunter, I remember he took me with him when they hunted foxes. She is very smart and a good helper.

Looks like a serious dog. Actually a very beautiful dog. I hope you turn into a real hunting dog. And he will delight you both as a friend and as a hunting companion.

WoW What a difference 4 months makes eh when we last saw her just before the summer she was a puppy!

So did that mean 3 weeks of no lifting the Iron then mate?! Shok

It is amazing how quickly she has come along in such a short time. First few times we went out all she did was just run around and play with stick and stuff in the woods. After seeing the excitement of my other dog when flushing birds she then figured out that is what she is out there for and is relentless on flushing and retrieving birds now. She just naturally quarters in front of me and covers every inch of ground.

Couple of those weeks I was in a different state hunting so not lifting. Just walking through fields and cattails for about 7-10 miles a day. Cardio I guess Lol Last week we have been home so I have got some lifting in. My elbows feel so much better after taking a couple weeks off. I feel more energized too. The break from the gym was good.

I can imagine being out there in the wild and going after birds and bringing them back to you is the most fun a dog can have!! I imagine they would love to do nothing more, do they get scared of the sound of the gun at first but then climatize to it then?

I think with lifting and time off as long as you have other exciting things to be doing its nowhere near as hard to do as when you are at home living your normal life still, but there's that built up energy and anxiety to lift. So many times I've said its time for a week off and I make it to about 3 days and give in Lol All your joints and tendons feel fresh again from the break and you have a new energy again for training, a balance of everything is definitely a good option to have Good

You have to ease them into the sound of the gun or they will get gun shy and run away when they hear a gun and you will never see them again... I start them off with just a toy cap gun and fire it randomly when they are romping around. Then I move on to a .22 then a 20g and finally a 12g. They love the sound of the gun. Means they get to get feathers in their mouth most of the time if I do my job Lol

I used to be so fixated on having to lift and not take days off that I missed out on alot of the little pleasures of life like going out with friends or family or going away for the weekend somewhere with the wife, fishing trips with friends etc. I have finally come to the realization that there are more important things in life then not missing a workout. Wish I would have realized that a long time ago.
