+ 4 Repairing the damage 9-13-2021

To make amends can be viewed two ways: first, that of repairing damage, for if I have damaged my neighbor's fence, I "make a mend," and that is a direct amend; the second way is by modifying my behavior, for if my actions have harmed someone, I make a daily effort to cause no further harm. I "mend my ways," and that is an indirect amend. Which is the best approach? The only right approach, provided that I am causing no further harm in so doing, is to do both. If harm is done, then I simply "mend my ways." To take action in this manner assures me of making honest amends.

Making an amends is scary yet rewarding all at the same time. It really gives a chance to make that amends where we can . It gives us that opportunity to clean our side of the street . Just cause we make an amends doesn't mean that the recieving partys has to accept it .. I think people new to recover kind of put those expectations on it and when its not received like they had hoped get there feeling hurt.

I live my amends to my family everyday. I abused them everyday in active addiction, both neglectful and abusive language and behavior. My ex lovers, the best amends I can make to them is to leave them alone. They do not want to hear from me, and contact could be dangerous for me.
I do service work to NA, and to my community to try to make amends to the people who just got in my way. I am living the best life today, that I have ever known. The literature says to remember it is for ourselves we do this, but i don't look at that way 100%. I want to make the World a better place for my loved ones too. thanks.

Some can be made right away.....some are life long behavioral modifications....either way, it's crucial in clearing your soul and the path to long term sobriety. Fix your wrongs and live in such a way that you don't have to make many more. ODAT
