Do steroids make you bigger because they make you stronger?
ad
How do steroids cause muscle growth? I was reading some Starting Strength pages and M.R seems to think they primarily make you stronger, and so you get bigger quicker, because the weight on the bar is increasing quicker. But then studies of men on TRT show they gain some muscle and lose some fat without training, so that can't be the only explanation. Just wondered if anyone here can enlighten me further. There is surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, little information about this, on Google at least.

basskiller88They increase the rate of protein synthesis

They make you bigger because of nitrogen retention. They keep you in a positive nitrogen balance. When you are in a positive nitrogen balance, i.e anabolic, your body is building and repairing tissue. When your body is in a state of negative nitrogen balance, i.e. catabolic, you are breaking down tissue. The longer you stay in a positive nitrogen balance the more your body is synthesizing muscle and that is the primary mechanism of anabolic steroids. One of the side effects is that they make you stronger because they help synthesize muscle muscle at an accelerated rate.
Molinin302Easy answer yes, long answer... many other factors come into play. And testosterone vs anabolics is another topic altogether. But yes, much more happening than just strength increases. As you said, medications are given to kids, burn victims, post surgical recovery for a reason. Just always keep in mind, they work and are to be respected. It's a very in depth topic, best wishes buddy
Bill the science guy explanation is testosterone speeds up recovery. You workout, your body needs rest, test accelerates rest. It doesnt make you stronger, You make you stronger.
RustyhookerYou really need to just jump in and read everything. That topuc is too big to cover in a forum. If it was magic then everyone would be pumped.
From your last forum....please stay off gear til youre fully ready.
Read everything where? I can see the info on how to cycle, but not much on the science behind how and why it works
RustyhookerMedical websites if youre going the full distance. Endocrinology reports. Etc.
There has to be a middle-ground, surely! A high-school level explanation would do.
And obviously, I know it's not 'magic'! But men on TRT, according to studies, gain a small amount of muscle and lose fat, and AIDS victims, and the elderly, gain muscle on Anavar, so there has to be more to it than it simply making you stronger so you can lift more. And I didn't say I was going to take clomid and dbol, I just asked if clomid would keep you switched on T wise whilst on an oral. The fact that people can't seem to respond to a question around here with an articulate, educated answer, suggests there's a lot of knuckle-draggers on here who want to look like they have an expertise, when they actually don't - they just love injecting man-juice. Wasn't it Einstein who said something like, if you can't explain a scientific theory to a waitress in a simplified form so that she understands it, then you don't know enough about it yourself!
First I would say the majority of the users on here don't know the answer to your question. That being said the knowledgeable users here get tired of people coming day after day asking the same questions in different formats. The user Rusty is pretty knowledgeable in this area of steroids etc. The knowledgeable people on this site have put in the work for the knowledge they do have. They have spent lots of hrs reading and studying various books articles etc to gain the knowledge they have. If your that curious on how the body works I suggest getting an anatomy and physiology book and go to town. Plus there are countless articles and such things online to basically answer any question you can possibly think of. And I would always suggest researching your question on your own instead of asking an internet stranger. Basically it just boils down to doing your own homework. Good luck to you and God Bless.
RustyhookerTrt small gain is glycogen load. Cell volumization. If thats a gain, so be it.
Middle road...yes! Touch your avatar....GROUPS....first cycles group by doss. Reading. I wont spoon feed. Couple hours reading. Magnifying glass pulls up any question you have.
I don't want spoon feed, I just want a plate of info and I'll feed myself! I've found lots of info on dark net, google blocks lots of info it thinks is bad for us. I'll get reading, cheers
RustyhookerGood to hear!
