Press- prisons in the US are big business and a lot are privately run. So it pays to lock people up. We have a small population compared to other countries yet we lock up the most people on the planet.

Uuuggh that sounds harsh, must be horrendous going from a diet where you are use to eating good high protein meals to processed not fit for human consumption mystery meat. First few days you must be in such a bad mood as your body isn't getting any proper nutrients - same as that irritable feeling you get when you crave meat and all you can eat is carbs. Did it end up making you ill with food poisoning eating stuff like that or does your digestive system harden to it?
No, I didn’t get sick. It was just the typical green mold you see on bread. I did have bad gas when I was in there probably because of the poor food and diet change. Not all states or jails are the same. I was in jail for 17 days in another state and the food was pretty good. I think maybe the cook took pride in their job and did the best they could and the food quality wasn’t to bad to start with. One dinner we got sack lunches the guard said the cook had the night off everybody started throwing a fit. They didn’t know how good they had it. In that sack lunch was two ham sandwiches, a bag of chips, a cupcake, an apple and two juice boxes. I told them they were all spoiled, that sack lunch was better than anything at my local jail. I think is worse in the rural south, I’ve read about a sheriff’s department buying a truck load of hot dogs about to expire and freezing them and serving them for lunch and dinner everyday to get each meal so cheep because they are allotted so much money for every mouth they have to feed and get to keep the rest as income that doesn’t have to be disclosed. It’s completely legal, but completely corrupt and selfishly amoral. Putting steroids in your body doesn’t hurt anybody else, it’s a victimless crime but they can still put you away. If there are no victims then there should be no crime
jayiskA big scam US prisons have been running is making either the inmate or their family to use expensive phone services. These services are outsourced and extremely expensive to make a phone. To the point it should be criminal. Also prisoners do slave labor for about 10 cents an hour.
