Joshua VS. Ruiz Fight!

ad

Calling all Boxing fanatics - How on earth did this happen then?!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-7095277/Anthony-Joshua-...

Dr.BroScience's picture

How on Earth did this happen? Joshua is Glass Joe with one of the weakest chins in the division that's how. Fury was correct in stating that Joshua bested his leavings in an already beaten Klitschko. Joshua then ducked the two obvious best fighters in the division in Fury & Wilder in order to fight Ruiz who he took way too lightly. Ruiz being a former Freddie Roach trained athlete with tremendous power & speed. Joshua is and was completely over rated. You simply cannot be a top boxer with a glass jaw.

press1's picture

I was referring more to the physical condition they were both in - One looked like he was about to drop dead of a heart attack at any moment if he had one more cheeseburger and Joshua looked like a muscled up, fit and mean fighting machine. But as I've now realised these Mexicans are another breed altogether when it comes to how they look and how they can actually fight and lift in the gym.

When big George Foreman won his last title in his late 40's would you say he was "out of shape" because he was big , stocky, with a little paunch?
What layman do not understand is that Ruiz was in fighting shape. People who do not follow the sport simply use the eyeball test as that is a great story. "Look at what the fat guy did" etc. Ruiz although doughy in the belly was significantly slimmed down from prior fights. As any boxing fan knows being ripped does not mean you are in "fighting" shape.

The bottom line is that Joshua is done. He will never survive against Fury or Wilder. Pure and simple, ripped & muscular or not, Joshua has a glass jaw. Joshua knows this which is why he ducked both of them for so long.

Ruiz showed up Joshua didn't and he paid for it I look forward to the rematch should be much better

RickRock1086's picture

It happens when you underestimate someone who has way faster hands than you, can take your best punches & get up to finish you. The fight should of been over earlier if the ref didn't give AJ a 25 seconds count before stopping the fight. Not sure who's idea was to brawl with someone who's punches you couldn't even see coming. I totally blame AJ's corner for not telling his fighter to use the reach advantage to keep Ruiz Jr away or perhaps he doesn't have the ability to do so.

Dr.BroScience's picture

If you want a great laugh re-watch the fight playing close attention to Joshua's "jabs". The most pitiful , feeble , attempts I have ever seen in a heavyweight title fight. You certainly do not need your corner to tell you as a professional boxer to range your opponent & snap the jab like a man.

The physical difference is incredible.
I think this athlete win, first mentally, then physically.

Monsta03z's picture

Ruiz amateur record is 100-5 he has seen it all
His only pro loss was to Joseph Parker in New Zealand which many people think he won. Ruiz is a legit heavyweight he’s just not a blockbuster fighter like Joshua wilder or fury

Sam I Am's picture

Yea Ruiz is underrated but he woulnt get a fair fight in the UK.
The ref allowed no infighting when Joshua fought Parker. He would break it even when they weren't holding. I've never seen anything like it.

Facts
Ruiz will have to knock him out again to win
Can’t leave it to the judges

Monsta03z's picture

He needs to stop training like a body builder and start working more on his boxing. His gotten this far on just his athleticism which won’t be enough moving forward
His head movement has to get better
To Aj defense his chin isn’t that bad he always gets up when knocked down
Anyone can be easily knocked out in heavyweight division all it takes is one punch.

press1's picture

So why did Tyson do so well then with him being so stocky and with a tonne of muscle on him - was it just that he was so F'in hard they couldn't knock him down?

Yeah sorry Mike Tyson I was meaning Smile

Yeh he is but in all honesty I haven't watched a lot of his fights, Joshua just tends to be the guy you always see on T.V over here one way or another. He did a really good programme a while back all about him as a kid and his upbringing and how boxing saved him ultimately. I really bought into him as a person then being a good and humble guy so I guess once you do that you tend to support them more. He also looks pretty cool being tall with a load of muscle so that gains my respect too lol

So come on then Achilles, lets say I kind of believe you on this 585 bench Lol Would you say its down to big bodyweight/build or did you employ various techniques and PL strategies to get there? Just looking to learn Smile

I completely agree, the more people I have found and picked their brains who can bench 500+ definately have superior genetics not of the average man for sure and are generally built like monsters from birth - often at least 240 just in high school and pressing 405 without gear! Then you have the other end of the spectrum with short guys between 5'4 to 5'7 around 200 with the short leverages and limbs with pretty big rib cages as they are normally mesomorphs. Funny thing is with Larry is he's still a pretty big guy compared to the average gym bodybuilder - he's just not 300lb massive! Thanks for taking my comment as intended as after I realised it could have come across a bit wrong & clever Lol I was just having a joke with ya...

It's Nowhere near that from what I've found - I currently know including yourself 5 people who can bench 500 Plus and that's only because I've sought them out from hundreds of hours looking as to find out the big secret of being able to do it Lol In terms of people who train regularly less than 1% for sure. I've never spoken to anyone who's done it natty either - always on gear on advanced cycles.

press1's picture

That's the thing though Bud, you big monsters need less gear to be strong as hell as you already have such a strong hormone system and build in place as opposed to us little ectomorphs who weigh 150 on a good day Lol When the Big guys do run extensive cycles that's when you end up with the Eddie Halls & Thors of this world!! Plus as mad as it sounds I have quite a bit of respect for the guys that are willing to feel like sh*t 24/7 to be the best they can...It shows a hell of a lot of determination and commitment - I couldn't personally feel like that for more than a couple of days.

Furys the man right now.
Joshua and Wilder lost alot of cash with that loss.
This isnt the first time Joshua has gassed but he paid this time. Klitchko was just to old to finish him.
Wouldnt be a bit surprised if Irtiz pulls the upset although I'm going with Wilder.
Ortiz apparently is much older than 40.

Remember Ortiz almost knocked him out last time and the ref saved wilders ass. I have a feeling that it’s over this time for wilder.

Bill1976's picture

anything can happen. Ortiz might beat wilder during that rematch. Shit wilder almost got knocked out until the ref saved his ass. Then there’s fury. Pretty sure he will be the undisputed champ. Joshua looked outclassed. He can come back too. Anything can happen.

Just goes to show you can look chronically out of shape and still be hard as fu** and conditioned to hell.

herpjunkie111's picture

Oh yeah, and not trying to sound racist, but especially Mexican fighters. Ever watch females in mma, take super mely who fights for combate america. Watch some of her fights on YouTube. She looks in horrible shape but destroys her much more fit and conditioned opponents.

Primo_Build's picture

TSP

Tatiana Suarez Padilla. Not in the best shape but an absolute beast.

press1's picture

I mean how can Ruiz carry so much body fat and extra weight and still be extremely fit?! Its unbelievable - so much for pre judging whether the fat guy walking down the street can fight or not from now on....

herpjunkie111's picture

Same with that mexican mma chick, round belly, chicken legs, girly arms and shoulders going up against other girls that have massive legs and manly shoulders and arms, looking all geared up yet she destroys them.

press1's picture

Mind you are right come to think of it in terms of mexicans being very fit but appearing overweight - Look at Big Boy the powerlifter all over youtube.

He looks like he's about to drop dead of a heart attack at any moment yet does barbell pendlay rows with 500lb's for 12+ reps out doing ripped as hell Larry Wheels... Basically the same scenario as what happened in the boxing!

In a promo × 1
helloBrooklyn's picture

Big Boy looks a right sight more fit than Larry Wheels does. Being shredded year round is arguably far unhealthier than carrying extra body fat. I hate to say this, but I’ll be shocked if Wheels makes it to 30 at the rate he’s going if he doesn’t change his ways. It feels like Dallas McCarver all over again, and I really hope that’s not the case :(

press1's picture

Thing is with Wheel's is you just can't tell how much gear he's really on, to me he still looks fairly healthy skin wise and in his face compared to some massive outright abusers. Its gonna be either middle of the road 3/4g test stuff or the other end being 10g plus all the other stuff on top. But how long he can keep on lifting Massive tonnages that are unheard of who know's....Don't get me wrong though he trains hard and has the genetics that seem to produce the power of the God's lol

helloBrooklyn's picture

It’s the blood coming out of his chest, repeatedly, that scares me. I’m aware the upper pec is an injection site. But that should not be happening. The blood pressure… I don’t even want to speculate.

press1's picture

His chest?! I've seen the nose explode but jesus... Love's his anadrol though doesn't he

In a promo × 1
helloBrooklyn's picture

If Scot Mendelson wasn’t exaggerating when he confirmed the rumors of using 7 grams of Anadrol a week back in the day on rxmuscle last year, then apparently one can get away with a hell of a lot of drol. Twenty A-bombs a day… just wow. I don’t know some guys get away with it

press1's picture

Looking at Mendelson back then I don't doubt it for a second that he was taking that much - what's astounding is that the body can take that much but then look at the video's of him bleeding through his eye sockets when racking the barbell - he can't see!! He must of been dosed to the nines on painkillers also as the headaches would be unbearable if there's that much pressure in his skull. Fu** me I knew some guys were touching 500mg a day but a Gram of anadrol ....Proof that some guys WILL do whatever it takes.
