+ 1 Pull Push Legs x2!

ad

Hey everybody this is a split I've been working on for the past couple months and want to share it. Its a P/P/L based split that prioritizes different muscle groups while still utilizing a good balance of volume and frequency.

The order of muscle groups is based on priority for the given day. Also the order is specific to what my physique would benefit the most from. For example, on both my push days I reap enough tricep growth from isolating them at the end of the workout each time. Especially because of how much assistance work they do during pressing exercises.

I build the sets and reps a little different each week but the numbers shown here are my preferred methods. Thanks for reading!

Since legs are the largest and strongest muscle I like to work em separately from any other body part. That enables me to kill em and I think get maximum results. But that's just me. Your workout is interesting though!

Not sure what you mean? This is a 6 day PPL split that has 2 designated legs days. One hamstring focused. One quad focused. Only lower body muscles are targeted during these workouts.

Did you mean you like rest days around your legs days maybe?

I cant see doing shoulder presses on bench day.
But that's me...

It just dawned on me that i'm grateful you shared your opinion. Can you go into more detail about how you prefer to go about hitting pecs and delts in the same workout? I can tell you are saying If you do presses for chest you would rather do raises for delts. Anything you want to elaborate on would be cool. Building workouts is by far my favorite part of this lifestyle and I've found that anecdotal experience is exceptionally useful in this regard. Thanks in advance!

I dont usually train them together. My shoulders are done after chest.

Man, you know I felt the same for a long time but I really wanted to give PPL an honest go. I should spend a couple weeks with my previous split and compare!

Day 1 chest/bicep
Day 2 quads/hams/calfs
Day 3 delts/tricep
Day 4 back/lats/rear delts

Its a Dorian Yates inspired split.

Everybody's different. I've done every conceivable split.
Working each body part twice a week 15 or more sets for larger parts 12 on biceps and 15 tries has given me my best gains.
That's what I started with and that's where I'm at now.
I wasted a decade training everything on e a week with little to show for it.
But like I said were all different.

For the longest time I would have agreed with you. When I do bench first I go for time under tension with my shoulder presses over weight. For me it has a favorable synergy. Plus with this split these muscle groups get a bit less volume than if they are trained solo or with just one other muscle group so for me that helps my ability to do both.

Edit: "a bit less volume [per workout]"
