Why Does It Seem Like There Are More Obese People Now?
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against heavy people! As a matter of fact I can easily empathize with them. It's so easy to gain weight; especially after 40.
Food is everywhere, and it's tempting. The Pizza smells as good as it always does whether you're dieting or not. It may even smell better!
It's so easy to go to the refrigerator and serve yourself some pleasure!
Here's what I can't understand. Every year the weight loss industry grows, the supplement industry grows, and the fitness industry grows.
Each year there are more gyms and they are filled with people doing cardio, weights etc.
So, what's going on? Is it the additives in food? Is it simply people's lack of self control? It's a terrible dilemma for society as obesity is an epidemic! Even worse is childhood obesity!
If you have a logical answer to this vexing problem; please let me know. I can't seem to figure it out; it doesn't make sense!
Thanks
EDIT: 7/9/18 One of the response below mentioned GMO's. I think this definitely plays a role here. Also, we eat refined foods and processed foods.
Even good restaurants use processed foods so you can never be sure your diet is free of these.

Why then are 3rd world countries not fighting obesity? This is a first world problem. I would mostly contribute this to tolerated laziness. Americans and other developed old countries have become complacent. Most don’t want to work hard because they don’t have to. Folks have never had to work hard or don’t have a skill set to work because they were or weren’t taught to do so. Furthermore our society spoon feeds people with social programs teaching mediocre is ok. If people were hungry and had to work for there food oboisity wouldn’t be such an epidemic.
Obviously your not from an economically repressed area. There's a lot of generational checkers but there's also a lot of good people stuck in bad situations. You can rationalize it anyway you want the fact is unhealthy foods are in fact much cheaper than healthy fresh foods.I agree with your statement 50 percent.
An interesting answer, but a lot of third world countries simply don't have the food supply and many have famines.
sexualtyrannasaurusIs this a rhetorical question? why the fck would we talk about obesity in Africa in the first place?
Is there ever obesity in a country like North Korea or Africa?
Why would you even ask such a foolish question?
And your answer is total hogwash, look at the percentage of people in america who are MANUAL LABORERS, construction workers, house painters, field workers, lawn mowers. Are all these people not hard working ??? they're still OBESE.
X2. I also think when women entered the work force things went to shit. A lot of folks are just to damn busy to cook. When I was young people rarely ate out. It was a birthday or special occasion. Now most people eat out quite a bit.
A very good answer. I think it is partly true but there must be other factors. Let's see wha some other guys come up with.
