+ 14 WHAT YOU DO OUT OF THE GYM IS AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT YOU DO IN IT!
Two guys the same age with comparable genetics take the same GEAR or they could be natty. They do the same workout in the gym, but show very different results. Why?
The guy who's ripped simply does everything right out of the gym and the other guy does everything wrong.
So, most of you know this but there are so many factors that people who don't get results simply ignore, or take lightly.
Yes we've all seen the fat guys who do lots of cardio. Most go into the gym on a full stomach and simply burn food that's in their gut. Others do the cardio then go home and eat a buffet. OK so this is an extreme example, but we've all seen it. Many can't understand why they are heavy.
Then we have the lifters who are micro examples of the above. They kill it in their workouts, but the ones who succeed know when to carb up, and when to workout on an empty stomach depending on their goals.
The guys who succeed get their diets and supplements right. The guys who don't think macro is a term for a computer! Wanna succeed get your macros right!
Guys who succeed do their research if they are using AAS, do bloods and make adjustments based on results and realtime experiences. Those who fail to study, fail to learn, and fail to succeed to the optimal level.
Failures include guys who think any cycle will bring astounding results and often do bizarre combinations of compounds. Some are taking as much as a top competitor and have little to show for it!
Others take painstaking time to plan out logical cycles, and using far less gear have astounding results! HINT! We've all seen examples of this on eroids. It can be scary.
People think if they buy from any source, stick huge amounts of AAS in their butts they will look like Kai Green. It's so easy!
Few really understand the work ethic this takes out of the gym to build a really great physique. If you have freaky genetics and break the rules you cheat yourself out of a truly amazing experience. Shortcuts are not an answer!
Then we have the guys who drink or do substance to an excess. So, you go to the gym, pay your penance and then get hammered all too often!
Don't get me wrong I like Rum and Coke and am no Puritan, but I have always kept it in moderation. It's like a cheat meal. Cheat too often and screw up all your work in the gym.
Speaking of cheat meals when they become too frequent and all too lavish don't expect results to be maximum. Yeah I know you young guys with fast metabolisms can cheat a lil more; but don't get carried away!
SLEEP! Oh how many rule-breakers we have here1 Yeah blast it in the gym, they party all night and burn up those muscles!
Funny but most bodybuilders really don't get enough good quality sleep! The importance of 8-10 hours a night of good sleep can't be overstated! This is when your body heals and everything you did in the gym gets repaid! Don't sleep; don't expect great results!
I suppose I could go on and on, but you guys get the idea! Ask yourselves what are you doing out of the gym? If you're breaking some of these simple rules; change your habits; it's never too late to improve!
Many of you will say you know all these things; and I have no doubt you do. The only question is do you do them religiously.

I’ll never be able to get 8-10 hours of sleep. Good write up!
Sorry to hear that as it makes all the difference in the world!
Good read. Very true. We all see that guy in the gym busting his azz but his body never changes. Why why cant he work as hard outta the gym as he does in the gym....
Good read but a bit of a failure, GENETICS. No amount of lifting, drugs, diet, or anything for that matter can overcome shitty genetics. That guy you see i the gym busting his ass every day and he gains nothing, do you know him outside the gym? Do you know his family history or what his parents look like or their parents?
Take two guys same age, same types of builds and make them both do the same exercises and same diet and one will overcome the other either faster or more muscle, because of genetics.
I watch a kid come into the gym day in and out and bust his ass, he would leave in a sweat covered daze. fast forward 6 months he still looks the same so he must be doing something wrong right? His dad started going to the gym and what do you know, they both have the same body type. Some people can at least get in shape and look decent while others will just look like shit no matter what. A lot of the other stuff you say is pretty true about sleep, rest and drug abuse. Some people have to work twice as hard as others. Some people have to count macros or watch carbs. To paint everyone into a corner is just plain dumb when each individual is different and follow their genetic map. Not everyone can be a bodybuilder just because they do their tdee and inject aas and get lots of sleep and watch their diet. BUT they can get into shape and lose bodyfat.
I'm old, I get RSI really easy - you saved me a shitload of typing - well said mate. +1
Real talk. The size of your frame and your family history will ultimately determine how big you can get.
Anyone can get over weight but not everyone can be all muscle and a brick shithouse

Yes! I had a debate recently about this. I totally agree. My skinny friend could eat and train like a beast but get very little results. The young kid I was in jail with was 17 years old, had a body most of us would envy, and never lifted a weight in his life. 6'2" 230 lbs of pure muscle, natural. Give them both gear, a diet, and watch what happens. I guarantee the results wont be equal.
But yes, great post. Thanks for taking the time to share, +1
Yes . I know a guy who's lifted for years . He does a couple cycles a year and to be honest I can't tell when he's on or off except his moon face . His dedication is on point . He lifts right and eats right . He's just not blessed with the genetics to be a big guy .... which he desperately wants .
My first couple cycles I didn't really gain like I was expecting to or would have hoped to. I trained hard and my diet was probably 80/85% in check but I wasn't sleeping but like 4.5/5hrs a night. Is be up at 4:30 to get ready for work and would put in 12.25hrs a day get off hit the gym for a solid hour plus and most nights I would Finialy lay my head down around 11:30/12 every night. The lack of sleep Finialy fought up with me in the end. My third cycle I came to the realization that I need more quality sleep. I made it a point to get no less than 6.5hrs of sleep a night and most nights I would get 8. I noticed an extremely huge difference in my gains with strength and size. I was blind to the lack of sleep hurting my goals. But let me tell you propper sleep makes all the difference. If I can't commit to at least 7hrs of quality sleep I want even think of starting a cycle now. Whats the point of putting so much blood, sweat, tears and money into something and not be able to get the absolute best in return. Gear and food cost way to much just to puss and shit it out without any gains to show for it.
You are only in the gym for about an hour so it is what you do the rest of those 23 hours that will separate the big dogs from the puppies.
I guess that I have been over-training for the last 35 years - I can never get out of the gym in an hour - and I don't chat/txt/selfie/facebook/twitter/instagram or talk to anyone while working out. As a mater of fact - I leave my cell in the locker, but I do listen to music on my Mp3 player. However, your point about what you do outside the gym is valid. The whole gym thing should be lifestyle - not just a commitment to an hour a day and neglect/abuse for the remainder of the day.
Nice reading.
