-4 Karma, how does it work

My karma went from +3 to -9 overnight. Is there a way to figure out why or what to do to raise it. I really dont understand the way this works at all.

I feel compelled to state : "Karma has been redistributed ".
I am running with that. It sounds so much cooler than I "negged your karma".lol
It is much more than negging their karma,........ everyone that had tried to steer his straight gets a up-vote at the same time.
Kind of a Robin Hood approach. Take from one and redistribute to others.
ETA: there are times when "I negged your karma", ............... is just the right thing to say.
