+ 1 Training partner.
Im curious as to if you ladies have a regular training partner on a regular basis? If you like having a training partner and how you benefitted from having one if and when you ever did.
It seems that not too many women have one exceptt the personal trainer types which im not talking about.
Myself? I did once for several years. Well about 3. We had complimentary schedules and became friends in the gym.. We seemed to have a similar energy and interests and for me at the beginning of my gym routine.. Which at the time I had no clue it would continue throughout my life.. It was a very beneficial exp because it made me very disciplined to get there daily at the same time and i akso learned a lot from her.
We ended up parting ways when she began seriius competition because that entailed a lot of steroids and i wasnt interested in going that route. Even after 30 years we have remained friends and she judges contests and is still mainstream far a s i last knew.. I just never wanted to look like that in a dress. Lol
But the thing was .. Once she surpassed me in strength which took about a month it just wasnt reasonable or helpful to either if us to continue to train together.
To give an idea of her role model around that time.. If you are familiar with bev francis .. That was her idol.
Ive never had one since and dont see women train together ever anymore.. So was curious as to your take on that.
.thanks

my ex husband was my training partner but since we've went our separate ways I train alone. I do have a BFF that is a guy, a competitor, and we constantly discuss training and ideas but rarely train together although we are IN the gym at the same time. THat said its always nice to have someone like that where even if you dont actually train together you can discuss methods and ideas.
That makes sense to me. I knew almost everyone at my old gym and not in a competitive way but more encouraging .. Thats an energizing atmosphere and i always looked forward to going and put my heart into it alot more than I do now. Now its like I push and rush myself more.. To get finished I guess. I never hurt myself before either. Lol that hurried feeling is exactly how I hurt my shoulder to begin with.
Makes a whole lot of sense now that I consider that.
Thanks !
I'm a lone wolf in the gym. I don't mind gong to the gym with a friend or boyfriend but we do our own thing. My last boyfriend and I paired very well in the gym when our splits lined up. We would spot each other if needed and would do cardio together... sled work, hill sprints and trail runs mostly. I always had a better workout when we were in the gym together. I think mostly because we check each other out and we had an insane physical attraction towards each other. He was also just as knowledgeable as me and we complimented each other with our weaknesses.
I like to get in, grind and leave. The gym is also where I decompress and release anger and frustration from the day, a workout partner interferes with that.
I like training with someone stronger than I am .. it pushes me to work harder. so I prefer that they be stronger than I am ... I haven't trained with a girl in a really long time ....and I was the one who pushed her to lift heavier. In fact I ve pretty much trained with either a boyfriend before I was married or my husband and we've always done the same workouts together .... I think they were always afraid I was going to catch them so they worked harder to lift more and I worked harder to catch them
backonroidsTraining partner is only good for me as a spotter , I'm a headphones on kind of guy I like to get in smash it until I can't do no more .. don't like the waiting around for others and I'm my only competition
Similar to you, I trained with or I'd say trained a friend for about 3yrs - we were at way different levels and it proved to hold me back a bit but at the same time made me get to the gym on day's I wasn't feeling it. I've been going to the gym now for years with the man, we do our own thing yet spot each other if needed. I get a much better work out on my own, I talk to much when I have a partner.... I do prefer to have a partner for cardio so the time goes faster though
Then mean if you post a picture make sure your face or anything that can relate that picture to you is no in it because others can use that picture also.
