Diuretics

ad

Whats up guys,

I've been holding a little water again, more than usual even though my estrogen is around the 35 range. My sodium is low and my carbs are moderate. I pretty much have it all in control.

My question is, i've never used a diuretic before. Theres so many and this is the only thing in this sport that confuses me is the use of diuretics. Do y'all think its worth it? I only did a quick glimpse of research so maybe when I have free time tonight before bed i'll really dwell into it and read more. I know its mainly used for comps but i'm trying to get an accurate reading on my condition and I can't because my bloat. Would it be okay to use it just to see how I look completely dry? If so, what kind do you recommend? Theres like a million of them lol

Dacky has you covered below. Couldn't have said it better myself. No reason to ever use diuretics unless they are prescribed by a doctor or if you're an advanced level competitor prepping for stage and know the ins and outs of what you're doing

No one should be afraid to ask questions regardless of how advanced (i.e. genetically gifted) he or she is. Some guys get huge by accident. Others arm themselves with all the knowledge there is and still never get anywhere.

No need to add insult to injury. Straight Cali already is a minority, particularly if he lives in the bay area.

But come on, str8cali, this can't be a serious question... Just order a burrito at one of the food trucks. The half life of a food truck burrito is about 5 days. ;-)

Some natural options to consider that worked well for me.

  • dandelion already mentioned by Kibby
  • horsetail grass
  • vitamin c
  • caffeine
  • shit ton of water

Take all three together for a couple of weeks and you should be dropping that water pretty well.

diuretics really just get dangerous when you take them before a show, if youre not cutting water and carbs etc theyre i guess safe. My doc rx'd me some dyzaide way back when I had a side effect from a med and it blew my legs/ankles up with water. She had no issue with it, my grandpa used to take lasix daily also. The stuff gets dangerous when your body has zero water like before a show and youre messing with your sodium and carbs. I would only ever recommened dyazide, its fast as hell, its not a loop diuretic like lasix, those can get you in trouble quick. I wouldnt take it daily or even regurally, just once in a great while when you wanna really dry out. You could try taking it for a day or two and then maintaining the condition or close to it. theres really only three that bbs use, lasix, its harsh, dyazide, the one id use, and aldactone, never used it i hear its slow.

I use hydrochlorothiazide year round. Because I have to, medically.

How low is your sodium? We talking within the RDA low?

That is insane. How do you keep your sodium that low? Like, mathematically? Everything from chicken to eggs to beef to milk to, well, almost everything we eat has sodium in it naturally. How is that possible to consume that little sodium eating like a bodybuilder? I thought I was eating low sodium at 2,370 mgs a day. Just 9 eggs alone exceeds 600 mgs of sodium.

I don't think it's otc. I need it for blood pressure.

Have you considered that there is a reason that they only use them for competition???
