Best course to run alongside active Rugby Season and Strength Training

Afternoon guys, looking for a piece of advice around best cycle to run during a rugby season. I train up the club twice weekly for 5-6 hours, conditioning work and skill based work. Also in the gym 3 days a week for push, pull, legs. Looking to increase my strength whilst maintaining my size and also the added benefits of recovery as I play a game each Saturday, or will be I should say when the season kicks off next month.

Play Openside Flanker, and I am 6ft at 105kg and reasonably lean with that size. Thinking a low dose of Test & Deca, with no orals in there. What would people advise or not?

Any input welcome.

Don't use gear, unless every person on every team you'll play is using it. I played D1 rugby in college and waited until after I stopped playing to start using gear. It would have given me a huge advantage. Instead of losing 15lbs every season and a ton of strength because of the massive amount of running I would have held my size, gotten stronger, faster etc. I don't even think the guys on life or st Mary's run gear. I practiced with them the year my school hosted the D1A national championship. But the dudes on life are all like 6'4 and up there huge, but my roidar wasn't going off when I saw them. 2 kids from my team went on to the US Olympic team and they started using gear then. Big dudes 6'2 260 and 6'1 250. They were already big to begin with though.

Btw I played open side too. One off season I worked my as off and put on a decent amount of size, it slowed me down quite a bit. The strength helped but you know you gotta be fast to play open side.

Creatine should be more than enough with good diet and training.

What does your training/nutrition plan from your coach look like?

Gaining fast size in rugby will only make you a worse player and also hinder your cardio.

The strength increase would be helpful but that will go as soon as you stop the gear. Probably best to just keep doing what your doing

I played rugby for 9 years (college then 27yo to 33yo)... never used AAS. To be honest, I wish I did (having the knowledge I have now on proper administration - of course during the 27-33 time frame)...

I will agree with what you may be insinuating though... the best players, weren't on any PEDs (except beer, coke, oxy, weed... haha)... the top dogs will be the top dogs no matter what. I was one of the better players, but we had 4-5 beasts throughout the years... 2 best players I've ever seen, weren't on nothing... and in my heart of hearts, I don't feel that any amount of AAS I could've taken would've put me at their level.

The recovery benefits & performance enhancement qualities... woulda been nice.

I'll be called a dickhead for calling you a filthy dirty cheater, so I wont, but only because Rugby has a culture of AAS abuse. (I felt the same way when I fought MMA). What you propose endangers other players. Its an important consideration given the concussion issue.
