Asymmetric body proportions advice

ad

BLUF - Stenosis in my spinal column caused atrophy in my right arm and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make it more symmetrical.

I'm not a BB nor do I plan to be, I am training mainly for strength, weight loss, and general health (50 yo old dude here) I had surgery to correct the stenosis, but not before it had done some damage

I hadn't noticed before, due to being an out of shape fat bastard, but now that I am attempting to finally get in shape, I've noticed that my right arm is slightly smaller then my left. Measuring my biceps (relaxed) there is an 1" difference.

I am currently doing progressive overload weight lifting in the gym (again mainly for strength) but I was wondering if I should do some sort of isolation exercises for my right arm to try to mitigate the difference.

Thanks in advance.

Most ppl are the same.
If you need to rectify just lead with the weaker arm.
E.g. on straight bar curls engage with the smaller bicep - don't worry about the other it will still get stimulated
same with close grip bench. Engage with triceps of smaller first and keep focus on that group thru the movement.

This is the same as having a dominant eye, easy to overcome with mind muscle to make the dominant muscle group less efficient/engaged to the point of being the secondary during execution

No need to exercise the muscle group alone

Had the same problem. my left arm was smaller but stronger than the right. so I started do change my complete wo routine. barbell and dumbell exercises and a few preacher curls for the pump. one thing which helped me a lot. I stopped counting the reps and started doing reps until failure. worked fine for me, maybe for u too!

Personally I wouldnt train any differently, we are all made differently and 9 times out of 10 no body notices.

My left pec is smaller than my right, used to annoy me until I looked around and realised a lot of lads are the same. I'm sure it's a similar situation with arms.

Good luck of your journey!

Add a few sets for that arm and practice posing/flexing the weak arm.
