+ 2 Do you see yourself as "big" as other people see you? At what point do you feel your big?
I know this has come up from time to time w/ some of my close friends that are "Big" guys also(Serious lifters).
It's always sparked some interesting conversations hangin' out after hours on the weekends or whatever. So I wanted to bring it up here because I know more of my close buds than not are like me when it comes to this and when we look in the mirror we just don't see ourselves no where near as big as other people see us.
Which brings up a good point that it really can help having a smart buddy or two to workout with and help critique each other and work on your weak points and excel with your strong points.
So I guess the best question is this:
How tall are you?
How much you weigh?
How long have you been working out?
When did you see yourself as "Big"?
Do you think you see yourself as big as others see you?
Yes when you are out and about you get looks and you know when people are checking you out and notice "Damn that guy is big as fuck".You know you love it,it's much hard earned respect you deserve for the countless hours you put in w/ the Iron and dialing in your diet. And you usually notice if your the biggest guy in the room, and if not who is...I mean that's just how we are and how our minds are programmed as bodybuilders,it doesn't mean we're gay because we notice another big dude in the room,we just respect the hard work, that and it's that primortal caveman/warrior blood pumping all this test through our veins alerting us when there is another potential threat in the area, you'd be dumb if you didn't notice it,or dead if it was 100years ago and the guy was coming for your head on a stick...just saying
I know I'm 6' tall and been lifting/supping over the course of 15+ years.(Off/On)
I never took any interest in bodybuilding until well into my 20's...but better late than never.
took me years to progress and even get to where I truly understood my body and how to feed it and work it out to get what I wanted...I suppose the first time I ever truly felt like I had gotten pretty big was the first time I pushed past about 220lbs...But most of that was from people comments and noticing you get a lot of looks and people checking you out on the day2day.I knew I was "Bigger" because what I had come from(maybe 175lbs)but I still didn't feel "Big"Even though usually I was the biggest guy in the room, you know.
Life,Family,Work happened and my hours in the gym turned into hours doing other things,as happens to most of us...Few years later realized I was slacking and no more BS,time to make the time for me.After recomping and getting back at it,which was the worst...omg.But got there and I think the first time I ever truly felt as big as I was,as big as other people did when they look at me was pushing past 235lbs..That was pretty much my plateau at my height,as soon as I finally broke through that the next 20-30lbs came easy, probably too easy, lol.
Although still even so,just me and a mirror I still never see myself as big as I am,and its even safe to say I feel like my same 200lb self no matter what weight or how big I am,It really takes being in the gym and I'll see a guy that's swole and thinkin " Damn that dudes fkin swole" Then when I walk by him and check the mirror Its really only then is when I realize,Damn,I'm way bigger than him...LOL
I suppose that's part of what keeps me at this game and why its the most self fulfilling thing I ever do for myself and every day you can push it a little bit further if you want it bad enough.
Your probably never going to see yourself as big as you really are,but that in itself tells you your twice as big as you "Think you are".Which is even better IMO
