I met my ex wife on POF when it first started back in like '05. Hearing that she's my EX wife might give you pause but she was a really good woman and not a hoe either. We were together 7 years. From a female point of view.... It tends to be the same people on all of the dating websites, Pof & Tinder are free so may have a few more crazies. When I was single, I had a profile on POF but I had it hidden so no one could see it (this option used to be free but I think it cost money now), I would pick who I wanted to have contact with - otherwise its a full time job to weed through all the emails. So understand that there may be a lot more attractive women on the site than you can see but they are protecting themselves. I actually met my BF on Tinder which is known as a hook up site but can be used anyway you choose (I personally was not there and am not a "hook up" type of girl). I liked using dating sites because you can weed out people based on things you would never know if you met them "out" (kids, religion, job, ect). Good luck! Oh, my best advise is meet for a drink or coffee only, no full on dates with dinner so you can bounce, if needed, and do it as quickly as possible before investing much time getting to know them (so you don't feel bad when you're not attracted in person) This will save you a lot of time.

Actually met my wife on POF. We were both in our 30's, didn't do the bar scene anymore, started talking on there, then exchanged phone numbers. It's an easy way to meet people. Be up front with what you want out of a situation, and expect to meet a few crazies. It's a big crazy world out there.
I was just looking to date in my time on there. Really didn't want anything serious. Even though I made that clear, I met a few expecting a ring. I also met a couple that ended up being married or in a relationship and acting single. There are some good people on there, but you gotta sort through a couple hundred. Everyone on there wants something.

the advice I can give you based on my friends experiences on there, don't let them know where you live. at least not until you've got to know them well and can decide if they are sane .
